Suburban Lawsuit (UPDATE)
Another nonsense suit that accuses police of wrong doing, diminishes respect for the law, and could make officers second-guess themselves - even in the face of video evidence:
- He was shot dead by police in the emergency room of Highland Park Hospital. Now, the mother of 27-year-old Christopher Anderson has filed a federal lawsuit against the city, claiming officers used excessive force.
[...] Newly released are some of the last pictures of Anderson seen alive. Dashcam video him taking a field sobriety test and then being handcuffed after he and his 9-year-old daughter were injured in a crash on Interstate 94 that allegedly was alcohol-related.
Minutes later, Anderson was killed by police, after he took out a gun during treatment in the emergency room.
Momma has the usual litany of excuses:
- “It was senseless. I just want to see justice done for my son,” his mother, Venus Anderson, says.
On Monday, she filed a federal lawsuit against Highland Park, after her attorney reviewed the city’s own reports.
“He never pointed the gun. No officer is claiming he pointed the gun at the officer. So, while he was seeking to comply with the officer’s instructions, they shot him,” attorney Blake Horwitz says.
The city contends Anderson was repeatedly told to drop the gun. Officers fired nine shots in less than two seconds.
“They weren’t trying to disarm him, they was brutally trying to murder my son,” Venus Anderson says.
It was a STOLEN gun momma. We've all seen the video of doctors and nurses running for their lives, and as the lawyer is no doubt aware, police don't shoot to "disarm," they shoot to end the threat.

At least the baby spawner wasn't complaining the police shot her unarmed baby. Now police are catching hell for shooting an armed, drug and alcohol fueled thug going berserk in a hospital emergency room. Why not sue the hospital for not saving her baby? And sue the owner of the stolen firearm for not securing the firearm properly thus allowing her baby to steal it causing the end of his promising life.

Coming from someone with firsthand knowledge of that incident, shithead pointed the gun to a nurses head at point blank range and fired shots nearly hitting personnel. The threshold is being in fear of yours or someone's life, that's it. This country will fail if people don't stop lying
I wonder if any of those doctors or nurses that were running for their lives away from jag off with the gun while the police stayed and ended a terrible situation are part of the "hands up don't shoot" crowd? If so, I hope they've seen the light. Those officers are heroes in my book.
If you ask me lawyers are all slim balls. They will take any case for any reason against the police just to get the tv exposer. With all this discrimination of blacks vs whites, blacks are still today discriminated against for this & that, why do the always hire white lawyers? Where are the black lawyers? Are they not qualified to handle a law suit?
The only way to stop these nonsensical suits are to hold the plaintiff and their attorney liable once it's determined that the suit is frivolous and without merit.
Make them face financial and possible prison penalties for filing these ridiculous claims.

And curiously, the link doesn't appear to work anymore. Using the station's search engine shows the same article, but nothing's there. Why might that be?
Insurance company will pay since it's cheaper to settle than to go to trial. Maybe if the the attorney for the complainant had to pay all costs if and when they lose, some of these frivolous lawsuits would dry up.
But none of these outraged people admit to the guilt of their children.
Moral of this story: Crime doesn't pay. Multiple felonies so lets reward the family especially the mother who somehow forgot to teach her son right from wrong.
Maybe before the family collects the State of Illinois can collect some of the state supported healthcare which his daughter received. After all, his family should be grateful such government supported entitlement programs providing needed healthcare, daycare, utility assistance, SNAP, LINK,school time nutritional assistance.
Where is the compassion for others in these near death or elimination of existence type help for others who may be in such desperate circumstances.
He was so poor he had to acquire a stolen gun for protection. Desperate times require desperate measures. Mama rise up, be that better person and donate the cash money to a soup kitchen, homeless shelter or domestic violence shelter in the urban poor communities in memory of your gangsta son.
The hospital staff should sue for emotional distress. The hospital should also sue for violation of its policy given the clearly posted signs prohibiting guns in the hospital. A simple sticker sticker in the window with a red line through the gun is the universal symbol for law and hospital policy violators putting them on notice their actions are not accepted behavior in this healthcare facility.
Can the nurses sue the dead man's estate?

The Attoyney for sure.Momma and son are clueless.The other one knows better,but still goes along with this game.
He was gonna get a GED,he was gonna get a job,he didn't know the gun was stolen,the police s could of shot him in the leg,the doctors and nurses that we're running we're going to lunch it had nothing to do with my convicted felon son high on drugs,and why couldn't the police ask my son to drop his stolen gun 30 times,they had to shoot after only 5 times? I want justice cuz I need a new car,new clothes and some diapers for my gran baby that helped me win the ghetto lottery.
This is Highland Park. We have LOTS of lawyers. Good ones too. Fuck these assholes - we can keep them tied up in court for decades - until the rest of the fambily gets themselves kilt on da street korner.

Gotta blame someone...
But it's hard to understand how they could have
put cuffs on the guy for DUI and missed that gun.
Hopefully the agency involved will deal with that internally. Whoever missed it put a whole lot of people at serious risk.

I'm only impressed if mama, daddy and baby ALL have the same last name. Mama and offspring, not so much.
