- Chicago police seized marijuana valued at over $1 million after stopping an East Garfield Park man in his car Saturday evening on the Northwest Side, authorities said.
Officers tried to stop James Hargrett in the Galewood neighborhood around 7:15 p.m. after seeing him fail to use a turn signal after exiting an alley in the 1700 block of North Moody Avenue, according to a police report.
But Hargrett, 37, continued north on Moody, blew another stop sign and again failed to use his turn signal before he jumped out of the 2007 GM Denali and ran off, with the car still in reverse. An officer got in the vehicle and placed it in park, according to an arrest report. It was then that he noticed several garbage bags behind the front seats.
Soon after, officers apprehended Hargrett when they noticed him hiding under a porch in the 1800 block of North Mobile Avenue.
You know, if these assholes learned to drive properly, dope seizures might go way down.

Perhaps he was just delivering stock to the politicians who all have marijuana licenses now. It's legal, so all the anti drug pols are getting into the pot game.
What a waste of time/effort. Marijuana is legal in several states. Why are the Chicago cops picking on some hapless motorist for having a little MJ in his car?

The magic weed is legal in several states so why arrest people with it?
One of my rules of life developed when I was younger and less responsible is "only commit one crime at a time". Another was "don't smoke the weed until the car is parked". Good thing this guy hadn't figured this out.

The Elite narcotic unit could not find a kilo in a grove compartment. The unit went to zero after the real narcotic people left 35 and Normal.
The great kids in patrol don't have a chance getting in narcotic' because only the annoited get in and spend their day planning a one bag SW' and brag about how great they are.
Narcotic' unit went to shit when the likes of Chuck Ramsey left the unit.
The unit needs to be cut 50 percent of 9161' and 75 percent of white shirts.
Get new blood in there and let the old narcotic guys out in the field train them and teach how to get weight and be honest.
Does he moonlight as a college counselor?

V.V. has cashed in on two merit promotions. If he still has the same political connections from before he will cash in on a third. however I think that ship has passed. his political connections no longer exits. he is on the medical studying general orders in an attempt to be promoted off the list. I hope he is keeping up with his tanning bed appointments. he has a better tan than ric flair and the jersey shore combined. love those golden locks too, whats left of them.
To the guy that’s talking crap about V.V. you are truly a moron who obviously has no clue. I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that you are a coward and hiding behind an anonymous post or the fact that you are an idiot and are posting stuff without knowing any of the facts. V.V. made detective off the list and was not meritorious. Secondly he is not on the medical but on IOD after fighting with a mope who had a gun. I bet it’s easier to hide in your mom’ basement and make stuff up than to actually take time and find out the truth. I personally have worked with and for V.V. and would go through a door with him any day. He will do everything he can to help you and will never jam you up.
VV is a perfect example of the definition of a boss. Regardless if he made Sgt meritorious or not. I personally would rather see a working police officer and sergeant such as VV be promoted as opposed to some office clown. Just to set the record straight he made detective off the list and NOT meritorious. So before you post make sure you have the facts straight. In addition, he is currently recovering from surgery due to disarming an armed offender with a gun who was attempting to use it on VV and responding officers. So stop hiding behind your computer like a coward and posting bs and post facts.
