Man of God Catches Lead
- A pastor was wounded when someone fired into a Back of the Yards neighborhood church Sunday afternoon.
The attack happened about 3:30 p.m. at a small Evangelical church in the 1700 block of West 47th Street on the South Side, police said.
The pastor, a 40-year-old man, was shot in the arm and taken to an area hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
It's not clear why he was shot. According to preliminary information gathered by police, someone walked up and fired into the church, striking the pastor but not injuring anyone else.
What kind of city do we live in when a pastor isn't even safe in his own church?

Pastors are fair game of they piss someone off, or say the wrong thing.
I find it crazy that whether it's a 12 year old or a pastor, they get shot and my first thought is, "for what?".
Uh, we have some of the most corrupt "church" people in the country here. It begins with Jessie Jackson and goes on from there.
Some of these small churches in the ghetto provide the "pastor" with a nice income, a nice car and plenty of women to "share the faith" with. You don't pay no taxes, neither.

I don't find this funny at all. This guy was not some west side store front reverend. A real good guy who actually has great intentions in the community. I work in 009 and I can tell you this guy has helped the people over there more than any copper has ever helped people over there... A very pro police guy who helps homeless and families that need help not to mention a real man of God. Glad all of you can just laugh it all off. No wonder we are so hated in the community, in the movies and on the news. We bring the hatred on by our own actions and words. I can't wait to retire and leave town to get away from the rest of the coppers I have to endure on a daily basis at work. Big mouths, know it alls and as fake as the come along with the biggest self promotors of any profession I have ever worked in.

Had a few professions now did you Spunky? Couldn't hold a job, or like this one, no one could live up to your standards?
Let me tell you about the men and women in our profession, lad. I've seen them live and die to make this city a better place. I've seen them run towards gunfire to protect people they don't even know. I've seen them cry over the bodies of children whose parents couldn't be bothered with them. I've seen them talk families through some tough times and stand between them when they couldn't even stay in the same room together.
In short, little man, it is you who isn't fit to be on this job. You are an arrogant, narcissistic know it all that believes you are above these heroes? You are not good enough. Go early. Your absence will make this Department better.

If you can't wait to retire and get away from these horrible coppers you have to endure on a daily basis, why not leave? I'm sure your pastor buddy will help you out if you need a job. Since you've made yourself out to be better than all the other cops you work with, I'm thinking no one will miss you. Shit, maybe you could start a new service where ghetto pastors respond to 911 calls instead of the police, since this guy has done so much more for the community than any police, ever. You could even train them, so they would be better than your coworkers, more like yourself, a whole group of supercop pastors led by you. That should all but end crime in this city. Wherever you go, you're going to find "know it all" "fake" "self promoting" coppers. That's just how cops are made YOURSELF included.
Just look at how you insinuate that "WEST SIDE, Storefront" preachers are somehow, lesser than this south side preacher. Just because you know and like him, doesn't make this preacher any less of a tax free, money grabbing asswipe than the "West Side, Storefront" preacher.
