Rahm Getting Desperate?

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel is swinging for the fences.

Sneed has learned that Emanuel has personally gone to bat to reverse Little League International’s decision to strip the Jackie Robinson West All-Stars baseball team of their 2014 national championship.

Sneed is told Emanuel pulled out his battering ram during a 10-minute conversation Wednesday with Little League International President and CEO Stephen Keener in hopes he would rescind the league’s decision based on findings the team falsified boundaries to field ineligible players.

The mayor, a huge JRW fan, said: “Every home run was real. Every great catch was real. The passion they brought from Chicago to Williamsport was real. And the character they showed on and off the field was real.”
Here's the thing though Rahm-bo. If Chicago holds a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for city workers and we show up with Michael Jordan as our third, someone is going to cry foul. He isn't a city worker and doesn't reside in the city - see how that works?

Another example might be if there was some sort of mayoral election and thirty-to-forty-thousand American citizens showed up from Dallas or Billings or Salt Lake City and voted for one or more of Rahm's opponents. Right at the head of the line complaining would be Rahm Emanuel - guaranteed.

The Little League folks are sending a message that integrity is critical.

I'm sure they knew their decision might ruffle a feather or two, but I doubt they'll be swayed by Rahms's bat, battering ram, or insulting demands that their decision be changed because HE wants it changed.

So, Rahm, does this mean we can falsify our boundaries and live outside this city without being stripped of our police powers?

OConnor is also desperate in 41. Since she lost the ballot challenge on Naps, she thought she would try having his signs stolen. That didn't work either when the guy who took them got pinched at Canfield and Higgins. Well that didn't work out well either, so she had the ward office threaten the business owners on NW Hwy with building inspectors. Well that partially worked, some people removed them, some didn't! 41 is starting to act like it's a West or South side ward. Vote early and get rid of this part time idiot who votes with Rahm at least 98% of the time. What do you think she will do when the huge pension payment comes due? Remember Naps s the only one who can beat this pos!

The mayor means well. Unfortunately the rest of the world does not play by Chicago rules.

Meanwhile the governor has set workers free by his executive order which in effect makes Illinois a right-to-work state, and absolved government workers of the need to pay union dues.

It's residency soon to be ex-Mayor Rahm. Where does the child sleep? School year is 180 days (+/-)...CPS says 178. CPS policy says the child has to sleep half the days at a residence in order to claim residency at a location. So a child needs to sleep at a location 90 days to be a resident for sake of a school district. All the case law takes into account parents that are traveling salesmen, parents that don't get along, homelessness, shelters, kids that live at multiple houses for any number of reasons, kids that are in France for an entire summer and Vail during every school break, etc.

Did the children "sleep" 90 days during the school year at the location in question in order to determine residency?

Was the residence inside or outside the boarders?

Hold your ground little league, don't let a bully that didn't even reside in Chicago push you around. Do it for legit kids.

PS: Whatever Dean Sr. says about this, do the opposite. Where's the contract for reference?.....still waiting.

Only after they won, and the media, pols and revruns pandered to them publicly did it gain national attention. (DisneyWorld, White House, T-shirts etc.)
The Little League finally correctly acted on these 'known' facts based upon all the media attention, but not before they made sure they unequivocally had a minimum of 300% proof before they acted.(Sort of like our felony revue)

The coaches/managers knew they broke the rules. They tried to cover it up after the fact. The parents knew some of those kids didn;t live in the area. Parents talk to each other during the game "Who's the new kid on the team this year, Where's he from?"

Cheating is rampant in all sports even youth sports. Those leagues rely on whistle blowers to root out the cheaters because they don't have the time, or resources to check on every team.

The point is this, would the team have won if those ineligible kids had not played?

The residency rule for Little League on its face is unwarranted.

Baseball is all about rules, which is why it hasn't gone ghetto with players full of tattoos and flashing gang signs. The sport typically doesn't attract assholes.

There are plenty of non-ghetto people in the neighborhoods that JRW recruits from. There are some solid middle class neighborhoods and we all know that even in some of the worst areas of Chicago, there are decent people. There is plenty of talent to recruit from in the defined area.

What the coaches and management did is cheat, and at the expense of not only the kids of other teams but ultimately the expense of their own. They are not the only assholes in Little League. There are assholes in every LL from Winnetka to Woodlawn who think the game is about them and not the kids. Arguments, fights, rude behavior, unsportsmanlike behavior, it's unbelievable.

Last but not least. Jackie Robinson NEVER cheated. If you want to have a league named in his honor then you should hold yourselves to that level.

This was the worst kept secreat on the South Side. Everyone cheats in sports, especially in Chicago. The fact is that the way sports are today it's actually hurting this city, not to mention the countrty, Little League should be just that Little League. Keep it in a park or suburb, thats it. forget all this "world series" junk. At least give the kids up to high school before they encounter cheating. Play the race card, that will will help these young kids, just what they need. This is noting short of child abuse. Chicago Police Officers involved in this, shame on you. Get some balls and do the right thing.

It is sad that some people are making this a racial issue. The coaches and possibly some of the parents knew what was going on. In fact, they even falsified documents to pull this scam and then try to cover it up. The kids? Well, not so sure if any of them knew. I am sure they knew that kids were from out of the boundary line, but not sure if they were lied to by coaches. Allegedly, 5 out of 12 players were from outside boundary. Kids who should have played could not. Teams that should have won did not. What makes that right? Just because they are black? This is not the first time a team has been stripped of its title. I even heard on parent comment that everyone cheats. Wow what a parent. Sorry for the players and sad that someone pulled the race card.

Lets stay on point people...

1st, the youngmen of JRW played their heart out, did NOTHING wrong, and should not be punished.

2nd, the coaches aka adults are responsible for violating the play book rules. Punish them.

3rd, I played little league back in the 70's. We focused on playing ball, not where are teammates resided.

4th, If an NFL team can illegally let air out of a football aka cheating, get caught but still allowed to play in a superbowl and nothing happens, then leave JRW alone.

I understand rules, and some minor rules where broken but you dont embarrass an entire team of youngsters in front of the camera like they are doing! These kids will be affected by this situation the rest of their lives.

In closing, punish the coach not the innocent players...ashame!!

They should not get anything back, first of all everyone knows that there is boundaries to play for the little league World Series. Every team that plays at a Chicago park district knows that boundaries have to be followed and they select their best players from the park to be their all stars. So they can participate in the little league world series. So the parents knew that some of these kids did not live within boundaries. Worst thing is some of the parents are police officers which is worse, they should have known better.

Ms Renee Canon-Young says her son Jacoby was recruited to play for the Evergreen Park LIttle League even though he lived on teh suoth side. They filled out the form and told her to use a different address. So, the Evergreen Park coach who did the complaining has been doing the same thing, recruiting players from the south side to play for their team even though they were supposed to live in the suburbs. And Rahm needs to go find a job, complaints were sent to his office on the violence in the black areas and who are the culprits, the Hobos and some nuisance businesses and Rahm chose to do nothing. Now it is time for the black community to do nothing to put him back in office.

You kind of lose the "racism" argument when the entire city was behind them 100% during the road to the world series championship. The amount of support that these kids received was amazing. The city rejoiced and celebrated their win and these kids were stars for a while. To blame racism for losing the title after it was discovered that they loaded the team against the league rules is a slap in the face to everyone that cheered and celebrated for them.

Sure, every home run was real, but so was every home run hit by sammy sosa and mark mcguire. But cheating is cheating and you do these kids no favors by trying to skirt the responsibility for it or by blaming a racist society for having their title taken away. By telling them that the reason they are no longer champions is because they are black and the racist society is against them, you are cultivating a lie that may effect the rest of their lives. You plant the seeds of hate and resentment that could mold their future. The individual kids are not to blame as they are being guided and instructed by adults. However, since the rules were broken and the team was unfairly loaded with talent, there needs to be accountability and the title taken away and they need to be made to realize why.

Rhambo's rule: Rules matter when I say they matter (ex: city workers required to live within the city boundaries), otherwise they don't matter when one wants to become the mayor despite not living in the city for 3 years, little league rules... I'll call and tell them let the cheaters win, and if you want to run for president... Who cares about a little ol birth certificate.

Scammers.....

I have been out of town for a while (someplace sunny and warm) and have not seen Chicago TV or heard our local radio. I have dodged he political calls and there have several every day. I did get a phone messae from my alderman's office asking if I was all right.

So I am interested to know when Rahm pulled out the last ditch play of getting BHO or Hillary I town to stump for him.

Or maybe they hate him so much they would rather have someone less of a bully as mayor than Rahm.

boundaries?......rules?.....laws?...residency requirements (hey, you're the guy on residency)...well, Rahm, what happened to the rule of law, the notion that this is a nation of laws, not men?....in a race, should the finish line be shortened to that "those" who feel it is unfair can win?...and, in life, should the playing field be "leveled" so that everybody gets a trophy? (sounds like socialism?)..and, for that matter, what about integrity, and character, something that you and the liberal democrats, who are quick to scream race and unfairness, don't seem to know much about, or for that matter, have much of....

In a metaphysical method of thinking - nothing unreal exists.

So sure, the homers hit were real by definition, but they were hit by people ineligible to hit them in the first place, so although they're 'real', they don't count.

Cheating shouldn't be tolerated. At the very least, we need to send this message to kids EARLY in life before cheating or lying gets them killed (because we all know in the ghetto people get killed for much, much less...).

I understand rules, and some minor rules where broken but you dont embarrass an entire team of youngsters in front of the camera like they are doing! These kids will be affected by this situation the rest of their lives.

In closing, punish the coach not the innocent players...ashame!!

2/12/2015 05:05:00 PM

In life, some of the lessons we learn are tough ones. I learned to chain my bicycle up as I watched a kid pedaling away from where I left it unlocked.

Now those kids who lived outside the boundaries, I bet the mortgage they were told by the coaches to keep their mouthes shut about their true and correct home address. That would make the kids part of the fraud, no doubt about it.

And when I didn't graduate high school, that lesson was tough also. But no matter, I got hired by the CPD with a GED certificate. Lot's of part time classes got me to 120 hours of college credit and I got the diploma and a BA from a good school.

Yeah, life's lessons are meant never to be forgotten.

The North Korean Team has 12 year old players who are almost 6 feet tall and they shave and can press 300 pounds and go back into the North Korean Army in the off season.

2/12/2015 05:05:00 PM

1. Some of the young men did do wrong. They lived outside the boundary and they played for a team they weren't supposed to play for. They also denied players who lived inside the boundary the right to play.

2. Yes, they are, and they should be.

3. That's lovely, but it has no bearing on the issue at hand. Your warm childhood memories of playing ball have nothing to do with this team being stacked, with false paperwork being submitted, or with other outstanding teams being denied the championship, the trips, the experience, the White House visit, the parade, the magazine covers, the accolades.

4. A professional team getting away with cheating does NOT make it okay for a Little League team to cheat. (If anything, it makes a great teaching moment about how things should NOT be done.)

5. The kids are learning a real-world lesson. Cheaters are not supposed to be rewarded.

Their adult leaders should have thought of the ramifications of their actions before they did this. And, NO, it is NOT RIGHT to teach them that cheating 'a little bit' and 'breaking some minor rules' is acceptable.

And THAT's how we stay on point.

I hardly call stacking a team with ringers a minor rule violation, considering all the perks they received as a result of it. Plus, what can you do to the coaches other than suspend them from further coaching.

If you don't vote, it's like casting a vote for this criminal. Get out the vote. Vote for anyone and then vote for the other guy in the runoff.

OK, let's keep this in perspective. Why is there a rule on residency for Little League? -I never knew there was one until this came out. I always thought you just signed up and played. After all, it is not representing a school.

The residency rule for Little League on its face is unwarranted.

2/12/2015 05:04:00 AM

Then change the rules. But do not ignore the rules and cheat. They could have applied for a approved waiver to sign the players. Sorry, but outside of Chicago there are rules to be followed. The Chicago way only exist in Chicago.

2/12/2015 04:30:00 PM
------------------

You said you didn't know there was a rule.....You are a fool. It's plain as day. Everyone conspired to "stack" yes I said stack the team. The team is good because it was unlawfully stacked.
The rule is warranted because the idea is that the team is supposed to be local, not a regional all star team. It's about population density.

What a joke! Google the ACT test scam by upper middle class white kids in a NYC suburb. Has Obama or Hillary gone on the stump for Rahm? Not yet. Wonder why? Speaking of cheaters, does anyone remember a muscle (steroid?)bound Sammy Soso and that cork filled bat that broke apart one day at Wriggly Field. He may make it to the Hall of Fame faster than Ron Santo did or Pete Rose might.

Rahm also pushed for the HIGH minimum wage. Now watch all the restaurants, stores and all the other places with jobs along Chicago's borders move to just outside. Just like gas station because of higher city taxes.
