Whoa? Another Study??

Does no one ever ask street coppers their opinion? We could save the tax payers billions:
  • As overcrowding and budget shortfalls plague U.S. jails, the response increasingly has been to go softer on sentencing.

But that trend is raising concerns that the jails are only feeding the problem, releasing criminals who in turn go on to commit more crimes.

Washington state's King County is the latest to consider a softer approach to crime. County Executive Dow Constantine recently announced that if judges, prosecutors and public defenders can't figure out a way to speed up the time it takes criminal defendants to go from arrest to trial, he'll institute a "book-and-release" policy.

"That would be an absolute last resort," Constantine said. "But the fact is we have a capacity challenge and a financial challenge."

Washington state leads the nation in property crime, yet car thieves, package pilferers and home burglars rarely do any real time. Book-and-release would keep even more of the suspected criminals on the streets. People arrested for most property and drug crimes would simply be booked, given a court date to appear for arraignment and released. Even after their initial appearance, few would see a jail cell until they're convicted, if at all.
This sounds almost exactly like Cook County and IDOC problems with parolees and persons supposedly on "house arrest" going out, dealing dope, banging on the corners, getting they-selves shot and in more than a few cases, committing burglaries, robberies, rapes, aggravated batteries and :::gasp!!::: murders.

As you reduce (or eliminate) the time spent behind bars, the criminal realizes they pay no real penalty for their misbehavior. And if you reward bad behavior, you get more of it. Current sentences are like a temporary time-out for these scumbags -they get three hots and a cot, medical check ups, hours a day with TV or weights, and a learning environment on improving their criminal behavior. Plus, they won't usually get shot in the joint, so it's a relaxing trip all in all.

It is the liberal/progressive thing to do. After all, criminals are merely the victims of society, and conservatives.

I wish they would get rid of the weightlifting. There is no way in hell a family man has the time to fucking spend hours in a gym and lift to compete with them when they get out. If the prisoners want to improvise, so be it. You can't stop them from doing push ups and sit ups, etc. but to reward them with weights?.? . We get hurt trying to arrest these mofo's , let alone a female trying not to be a victim. She doesn't stand a chance. Unless she's carrying.

Liberals love rewarding bad behavior. Just look at Ferguson, Mo where you have people rioting and barely anyone was arrested.

Liberalism is a mental disease where common sense is non existent, and ideas are all emotionally driven.

Way off track- I just heard the Jackie Robinson little league team was stripped of their championship. It was by crooked ways that this team was put together, and the adults who were in charge knew it. Whats really sad is the legit teams eliminated due to this bullshit team. Every adult, including Parents, involved with this team are responsible for this hoax on the nation. Now, instead of showing society that inner city black kids can rise above and become winners, their own people( coaches, parents, managers)decided not to follow the rules and cheat. That's a great lesson taught to these kids by adults they respect. We do as we want, and fuck the rules. The city and the black community is again the laughing stock of the nation. And if I can quote a word from a mayoral candidate, Its not "whiteys" fault.

One would think that it would be in everyone's best interest to get trials moving along a lot faster than they do. That way the county would not have to pay to house potential felons in the county jail when they could be in the state pen, or at least the state would be paying to incarcerate then.

For minor offenses, it makes a lot of sense not to clog up the works if you can come up with some way of dealing with them that keeps them out of the courts.

a technicality? err plain and simple cheated and were caught! what about all that large cash raised will it be returned? this is like a fake wedding we thought they married but they didnt!

It's all the po-leece fault!

>Snicker!<

It's the way things are in Chicago...
Every failure and short-coming MUST have an easily identifiable boogey-man as the causative instead of the finger being pointed at the funky ass(es) that moved in furtherance to do the funky deed/commit the funky crime.

...Even the stripping of the Jackie Robinson West little league team (which was trotted hither/yon and exploited for cynical photo-ops by Rahm & Mistuh Brutha's Keeper) of their national title, will be blamed on myriad other things than the adults who ruined this experience for the kids.

This is so symptomatic of the top down, doing funky shit behind the scenes to affect outcomes that has percolated through every strata of life in Chicago.

Fuckery in the name of getting things "done" regardless of the cost and with a fools hope that
the funky deed goes undetected but with an ass pocket full of "so muthafuckin' what?" to tender when fuckery is revealed...

Suffer the little children?

"We can't compete, (AND WIN!) unless we cheat..."

How about leaving the cheating to the OTHER guys and y'all keep it on the square so these kids learn USEFUL lessons in life?

Watch for this thing to metastasize into something really ugly now that local media have taken their shoes off, blackened their faces and are now creeping through the house and pawing through everybody's (even the kids) panty drawers for some kind of "connection" to link this shit show to.

The targeted sub-demographic?

See how it plays out...

The Jackie Robinson West team was strip of its championship status based on their coach’s decision to circumvent the established rules that everyone else is playing by. The narrative was a neighborhood of champions in a community with a daily backdrop of violent criminal lawlessness. Politicians such as Gov. Quinn, Mayor Emanuel , Prez O’Bama all put themselves in champion’s limelight and somehow associated themselves with their competitive ball playing successes.

The players and their families should receive accolades for a job well done. And deservedly so. The coach’s personal decision to ignore the guidelines which everyone must adhere to will be a dark cloud to the personal athletic accomplishments of the players. The lesson learned is failed leadership and the lack of ethical behavior of those in charge. I’m sure some responsible adults were aware of these infractions and failed to correct these wrongs. Inaction has led to tarnishing the good work of the players.

The kiss of death for the JRW baseball team was all the praise and association of ethically challenged leaders such as quinn, emanual and o’bama. They all love athletic competition, but when it comes to making policy through legislation and associated administrative law, they level the playing field citing preferences and set asides based on skin pigmentation, historical inequities, gender, orientation and the same strategies of the old, tired feel good divide and conquer playbook. Competition is only permissible in athletic endeavors but not permitted and subject to rigid government controls in all other avenues of everyday life.

The problem in the far south communities is that so many make the personal decision not to follow the rules, namely criminal laws putting them at risk of incarceration. These politicians won’t take credit for the eternal unemployment, crimes, murders, drug abuse, failed public school systems, etc., but are all in on taking credit for other’s successes which fits their narrative template and further promotes their personal image and credibility.

one of her early ideas because there is a spike in auto thefts, write the victim a ticket for unattended motor vehicle if their car is stolen while warming up in front of the house.

really ? add insult to injury.....and she said that applied to cars running with remote starts on them. apparently she has never had a car with remote start because if she did she would know its impossible to steal a car that's running on remote start.
