Chewie, Stop Spending Money

This program should have been killed at birth - paying people to watch their own kids. Now it's turning into yet another handout of money:
  • Mayoral challenger Jesus “Chuy” Garcia joined the Chicago Teachers Union in a call for a $15 minimum wage for public schools employees and contractors on Wednesday, but did not say how the cash-strapped school district could pay for the expense.

[...] The teachers union said it would request language in a developing labor agreement that would require CPS to pay district workers and union members a minimum of $15 an hour. CTU Vice President Jesse Sharkey said the union believes a number of subcontracted workers, including employees hired to provide for the district’s Safe Passage program, do not make a $15 an hour.
The schools are broke. Last week, some bond restructuring might lead to the schools being on the hook for another $280 million or so. The well is dry. Stop.

And stop pandering Chewie - that's Rahm's schtick.

Karen Lewis convinced Mr. Garcia to take up the gauntlet and challenge Emanuel. We have to expect Garcia to go along with this stuff right now. He can't afford to alienate them before the election. After the election, he can tell them there really, truly, honest to God isn't enough money for it.

I don't care if Garcia walks naked across the North Avenue bridge between now and the election. I'm still voting for the guy who isn't Rahm.

Oh. . . .and the boys didn't join a gang and think of a Felony & Prison Record as 'A Rite of Passage'. Rahm is a compulsive gambler with our tax dollars, blowing hundreds of millions investing (providing windfall profits) to investment bankers. Those high risk credit swaps are plummeting, then just like gamblers do, CPS has to cover the losses. Something like $260 million has come due. Rahm is the Babe Ruth of big spenders. He spends our tax revenue on his Wall St. friends. Paying working people $15 an hour would save the taxpayers money because they could support themselves instead of relying on government programs. No comparison.

The mayor (and his predecessor) have blown hundreds of millions of our tax dollars investing in high risk credit swaps and other risky financial investments which are now plummeting. Just like gamblers, the taxpayers are now on the hook to cover those losses. CPS has to cover to the tune of $268 mil in this latest financial crisis. Go to this site: www.bondbuyer.com and enter in the search engine "CPS bonds" and read all about it. Hundreds of millions of dollars blown: providing huge profits for the investment bankers. If you read the first article posted on bondbuyer (about CPS bonds) you'll see towards the end of the article that of course the mayor's friends, his bankers blame this crisis not on their reckless gambling but on pension liability. This is what this mayor and his investment bankers are planning. Gamble all the revenue away, then blame it on anybody with a government pension.

Ask yourself some simple questions, has anything gotten better under Rahm Emanuel? Pensions no, Debt no, crime no, schools no, neighborhoods no, fines yes, fees yes, and all while having access to federal dollars and the POTUS. The one thing we know is certain, he's sold off the city's debt to hedge fund friends who'll make millions and when his done he will walk away as Daley did and leave us even worse. People have to understand that people with more money in their pockets will allow people to spend, bring up the economy and require less help and assistance. Fix the neighborhoods and make them vibrant will improve the condition of the ill effects affecting this great city.. Something Rahm has no understanding of, because his been a privileged child all his life...!

Today's Detroit News documents Detroit Public School's are in terrible shape financially. Take a look at the future. Let Chewie jack up the teacher's pay. It will just bring on bankruptcy sooner. Then the judge can declare are labor contracts void and set wages at a level that is reasonable. If the IL Supreme court rules the pension payments have to made, the judge will have to lower the teachers wages more.

As for janitors, last time I heard, they all were contract employees working for Magic Johnson's Sedexo/Magic Company. Their wages are between Magic and the janitors, not the city. Of course the bankruptcy judge will toss that contract out the day after CPS files for bankruptcy.

Oh, for the love of...

A. Could this have anything to do with the rapidly approaching runoff?

B. Going to hire more police, enough to man posts, each within sight of the other, all along the trail? That's the only way to actually make that trail usable. Illinois Prairie Path, along the old Chicago Great Western right-of-way, is great too -- except when traversing Maywood.

Yeah, let's close schools without regard for the de facto gang territory and control over so many Chicago neighborhoods. By closing those schools to supposedly save money, now SPEND millions of dollars for nonsense 'safe passage' signs and nonsense 'safe passage' workers. So, zero savings, much upheaval, and no true benefit. Genius move on Rahm's part.

Does non-Chicagoan Emanuel have ANY clue of the importance of each of those airport names? My dad heard it, too, and as a WWII veteran, he was incensed at the thought of overwriting those very significant airport names.

Another CPS graduate chimes in on a matter he knows nothing about, economics.

The price of your Big Mac will go up, the price of gas will go up, groceries will go up, water bill will go up, any business that has an employee will raise their prices BECAUSE the wages ACROSS the board will go up. Some businesses will cease to exist, some will move elsewhere and then, your delusion of all these well paid employees not needing government subsidies will die. Don't you dummies realize that the government DOESN'T create wealth? Everything you buy will cost more. Boy, that really worked out well, didn't it?

Next, you will say, TAX THE 1% MORE! They don't have all that money because they are all stupid. They are rich because they are smart or have smart advisers and can relocate to Florida to escape high taxes. I can tell you who is going to get a new tax. We are, when we retire. If you move out of state, they Illinois politicians are going to say that if you leave, you have to pay income taxes here BECAUSE your money came from HERE. If I'm not mistaken, California does this.

Here's my true story: It was just after 2am. I was driving south on Nagle just before I-90 by Bryn Mawr. I saw a guy wearing all black (hoodie/black pants etc...) He was white. I seen him pulling and collecting Chuy signs from the yards of the homes along that street. Had to have about 10-15 signs under his arm. There was a dark colored sedan driving very slowly curbside next to him. Like I said. I went around the block hoping to get some pics or footage and they were gone. I drive down that street all the time. For the last month literally every yard had CHUY signs. Now there is nothing but Rham signs. Hmmmm.

These people that are clamoring for $15/hr should be careful what you wish for. You may get it and not like it.

#1: It may push you into a higher income bracket and you lose you Earned Income Credit and other handouts.

#2: You will have to work much harder as the number of employees will probably be reduced. Fewer people doing the same work.

#3: As there will probably be more people seeking employment at the higher wage, your employer will find it easier to replace you and will be less tolerant of slackiness. Employer may tolerate some BS at $8/hr. But not at $15.

That's the problem. He doesn't want to shore up our pensions. He wants to fuck us, and the constitution---he's above such people and documents. The politicians underfunded the pensions and misspent...but lets blame it on the Police. Use the "Crisis" to tell uninformed people their property taxes will go up 150% or some other astronomic bullshit number. I'll give Chuy 4 years and if i don't like his regime i'll vote him out. Like a previous poster said if we give Rahm four more years---it will be his job for thirty years. Karen Lewis is not qualified to be mayor of this city or any other city. The people complaining about closed schools are too stupid to tell anyone what to do. These people had Collins High School built on the west side because they said Harrison High School was too far away...this only because CTA cut service on Douglas and a few other routes because people relocated because of the violence. Harrison was a much better school and a technical high school but, because of low attendance this excellent school was closed and mediocre Collins is here and they have been trying to close this school, too. If I was mayor, I would ignore much of what these idiots demand too.

Keep your eyes on the ball.

Chuy will be a weak mayor who will be forced to at least listen to people and compromise on occasion.

He will also have a factionalized city council.

That sounds like democracy to me.

Re-elect Rahm and you get a full force corporate ass fucking coming your way.

Bingo!! Right on the money.

The mayor and the city council need to be at odds.

No more of the rubber stamp city council!

41 vote Napolitano, 45 vote Garrido. We need to build on CFD and CPD in the city council, that will vote in support of the pensions and insurance. We have a friend in 38 with Sposato.

This happened 3-27-15. I couldn't take a pic or video with my phone because when I slowed down my vehicle and went around the block. I think at that point this guy knew he was MADE. Hmmmm.

This happened 3/27/2015 around 330AM I was driving around Bryn Mawr and Nagle and I noticed no Chuy signs in the yards so I became suspicious and after driving around the block to investigate and when I returned I noticed a black guy dressed in white with a mask on carrying a hammer and Rahm signs and all the yards had Rahm signs in them. He must have made me and fled I tried taking a video but it was to dark. Hmmmmm
