Dean, What's This?

First of all, this arrived in the mail Saturday:

But you've already announced that no endorsement will be forthcoming. Maybe you could release the actual totals so we can all have a good laugh?

But this here is actually more disturbing. We got this in an e-mail:
  • The FOP endorsed Amy Crawford for alderman of the 46th Ward. She's in a runoff with James Cappleman, who got the Police Sergeants endorsement.

Crawford has Marc Kaplan working with her campaign. Familiar name? Marc Kaplan, the guiding light behind CopWatch. The roving band of misfits who listened to the scanners and jumped on their bikes to film the cops. The same Marc Kaplan who was sued by an officer for encouraging kids to make false statements on police reports.

The third candidate, who didn't make the runoff, was Denise Davis. Kaplan worked for her campaign. The campaign manager, a guy named Cortez Duqette, has gone rogue. He's spilling the beans on what went on behind the scenes.

Here's the email linking Kaplan and candidate Crawford. https://www.facebook.com/150856738458364/photos/a.151266755084029.1073741828.150856738458364/344204319123604/?type=1

Duqette says that Crawford's campaign also paid former Aldercreature Helen Schiller's son consulting fees. He's a lawyer who sues cops for a living. http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/2011/04/whats-in-name.html

All tied up with a bow. The FOP-endorsed candidate in bed with the head of CopWatch and a lowlife lawyer who loves to sue cops.

It happened the same way in 2011. FOP and Kaplan endorsing the same candidate, Molly Phelan. http://www.uptownupdate.com/2011/04/endorsement-tracker-marc-kaplan.html

I wish FOP would stop making endorsements.
You know what? So do we. Hey Dean, what the fuck?

Can you imagine the phone call Deano will make to Rahm Election Night if Rahm LOOSES.

Ring-- Ring, Rahm, "Hello"

Deano, "Hello Mr. Rahm. This is Deano. Remember me?"

Rahm, "Yeah, Go Fuck Yourself!"

Now if Rahm WINS...

Ring -- Ring, Rahm "Hello"

Deano, "Hello Mr. Rahm. This is Deano. Remember me?"

Rahm, "Yeah, Go Fuck Yourself!"

Cortez is a complete moron...an absurd political hack wannabe take anything he says with a grain of salt.

Cappleman is Rammy's most reliable boot-lick, maybe that is why he is unworthy of the FOP endorsement.
Cappleman loves to compliment the police at CAPS meetings, on twitter...curbside. But he will sell the police down the river with whoever else Rahm asks him too.

A few people the police don't like are supporters of Crawford, big deal. Its not easy beating an incumbent in this town, who is she to turn people away.

An Alderman Crawford would be a friend to the police, stand up for the people make the city work.

Cmon do you honestly look at the FOP board and say these guys are on the ball?

They live for the stipend.

Most are in clout units and bought off fairly cheap.

Majority of them are retired with nothing to lose.

And the PREZ...

Is it too late to get Shields and his group of Irish wannabee politicians back in the FOP?

I never thought I would say that. This Holy Roman Empire regime is embarrassing.

Dean I couldn't vote for you because of my rank. If I could have voted I would have supported you. Either fix this mess or plan on living on your disability pay exclusively because you won't be reelected.

What the fuck is right?

Did you see Dean's lame-ass excuse on the front page of the newsletter regarding these ballots not arriving earlier?

Can you say "done by design"?

Had they arrived on time, thousands would have been mailed back in time for Tiny Dancer to see that the lion's share of the Lodge 7 membership has resounding support for anyone/option OTHER than him. Then Disability Dean would've had to tap dance around the topic like a man possessed; there's much less sweating repercussions of no poll results.

How about we conduct a poll to see what percentage of the membership see Dean and The Boys as a disgusting bunch of sell-out motherf*&^ers in the pocket of the Machine? I'll betcha those results would be deep-sixed alongside the elusive "Morale Survey" results.

I say who cares if we piss off 9.5 and he's re-elected? If history's any indication, it'll be time for the next mayoral election before our next contract is ratified.

Why doesn't Dean put it right to Rahm?

Ask the little prick why he insists on prolonging the mandated payment to the pension.

Ask the prick how he can justify 100's of millions for pet projects and entitlements while ignoring the pension payment.

Ask for total transparency and immediate disclosure as to the TIF balances.

Then follow-up with when and how the rules and regulations can be changed to allow that money to be tapped for shoring up the pension funds of first responders.

And ask all of these questions publicly, Dean, such as on a radio show like WBBMs "At Issue" or on television, ala WTTWs "Chicago Tonight".

What's that, Dean? You don't want to piss off the Master? Is this sorta like the 'Gentlemen's Agreement' of not negotiating in the press? We all see how well THAT worked out for the membership, didn't we?

Enjoy what'll surely be your first - and last - term as the Prez, Deano.

Sellout.

The FOP should get out of the endorsement business is a resounding fact, except if public safety staff seek the endorsement. The vast majority of the time all the FOP endorsement process does is cause problems at the local level. Let the state and national be involved in the process, if they wish. Do you really think Dean wants to be put in the middle along with the whole Bd. of Dirs. If you do I think you are very mistaken.

I'm in 46. Looking at Crawford flyer now. Two quotes from Dean:

"Smart and Tough"

Then the following. First part appears above the Dean quote:

Amy is a Crime-Fighter. Amy's raising her son right here in the 46th Ward-so she's committed to making our neighborhoods safer.

THEN THE QUOTE FROM DEAN UNDER THAT

"We need her on our side."

Did he really say those things? Amazing.

Here you go boys and girls, wonder why the rank and file do not trust the FOP board.

They email out a poll that is returned and shows the way the members feel. They then delay the News letter after it was printed since it has the same poll in it.
They just did not want to hear what the members wanted to say!

This shows bad management at FOP,
just like when the past president failed to send in the contract letter. Just trustworthy I guess

But is anyone held accountable?
I demand to know what the poll added up to prior to the FOP deciding not to back someone?

Back to the Future? Kaplan, Davis Backing Crawford for Alderman

Hail, Hail, The Gang’s All Here! 46th Ward aldermanic candidate Amy Crawford has said she represents "Uptown's Future", but a recently released email to her new "team" looks a lot like a return to Uptown's Past. Some of Helen Shiller’s most fervent supporters have joined forces with Amy Crawford's campaign in her runoff challenge to James Cappleman.

Ok, here is what I have learned: On 16 March 2015, at 0915 I called the FOP and spoke with Recording Secretary Greg Bella. He told me as of this time the FOP HAS NOT, made a decision, if they are going to endorse either candidate yet! Here is what has happened both candidates have met with the Political Action Committee (PAC), the FOP is still collecting the Mayoral Candidate Poll which was sent out by e mail, and US mail in the March 2015 Newsletter, and are talking phone call also regarding your choice. The results will then be given to the Board of Directors, both candidates will then be given the chance to meet with the Board of Directors who will then determine if FOP is going to endorse either candidate. I was also told that the results of the poll will be given, not the actual number of votes, but how the membership voted.

In terms of the day to day interaction the districts may have with Cappleman he's always supportive. The professional cop haters hate him. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. He seems like an ok guy for an alderman.

I read all the time on this blog about the $55 million squandered on fat ass daley park, the stadium for de paul and other financial catastrophes.

Has anyone been by Damen and Jackson lately? That big new building going up is Malcolm X College. Right across the street from.... Malcolm X College!

Rahm said, nearly 4 years ago, "I'm not going to be the one to tell these kids they can't get an education."

That sitting there is at least $250 million bucks that could have gone to pensions. $250 million bucks and there is already a Malcolm X College.

I hope they teach their students how to read at least.

$250 million!

And remember, the kids get a much better education at St Ignatius High School in a building opened in 1869 and still being used today.

$250 million! Malcolm X College, Hah!

4. Chuy did so bad the second time the only two people who wanted to endorse him were the two Hispanics on the PAC. One of the beat coppers on the PAC says while everyone wanted to endorse Chuy that no one can in good conscience after interviewing him twice.

Chuy has no idea how to fund the 550 million ARC payment, refuses to acknowledge property taxes have to go up, will not guarantee all TIFF that can be transferred go to the pensions, and is still against casinos.

Also remember that Chuy is beholding to the Teachers Union and SEIU. They both paid for buses to go protect in Ferguson and NYC against the police.

Don't reward incompetence and arrogance by re-electing it.

3/16/2015 05:29:00 AM

Take it easy. Also let's get real. Real as in that part of 016 has gone to shit in the last ten years. It isn't like that part of 016 went to shit over night.

What is sad is that people who make a meager living don't have many decent and safe places to live in the city anymore. Not everyone can afford to live in Downtown, Lincoln Park or the Gold Coast. The northwest and southwest sides of Chicago are going to shit because police man power is non existent and the city just doesn't care. When the northwest and southwest sides of Chicago go then there goes the city of Chicago. Thank goodness I only have to live here two more years.

Don't Forget about the local Aldermanic races. We have a friend in Nick Sposato in 38. We need to support Anthony Napolitano CFD, prior CPD in 41 and Lt. Garrido in 45. All of them will vote in our interests. If Napolitano and Garrido win, Rahm will not be too happy, but it will give us strength against him.

There are plenty of Aldermanic handjobs that used to be CPD.

This department is full of asswipes. Who says that they would make good aldermanic?

Why doesn't Garrido want to do his job as Lieutenant? It was okay for him when he took the promotion. Now he has his sights set on bigger things. Yeah. Sounds like he loves the department and would be our ally.

If I was the campaign manager of any of these Alderman running against Garrido or CPD members I would print bumper stickers that say, "Burke Was CPD"

You want your pensions...support Crawford.

You want you your asses kissed by Rahm's aldercritter support Cappleman.

Rahm was endorsed by Bobby Rush who by the way Denice Davis worked for.

This is all screwed up it is politics, a double-screw for being Chicago politics.

Your pensions and the pensions of other people who keep the city humming will take pension haircut under Rahm, if Rahm wins someone has to at least try to stand up to him on the city council.

Cappleman is a spineless kiss ass...never going to happen.

So the FOP endorsed Crawford.

I like the Holy Roman Empire crack at Dean at 1:57. Historically though that was more of a Germanic grouping of states. Not really Holy, Roman or an empire.

Then again when FOP endorses a copwatch lover I wonder if FOP is Fraternal Orderly or involves real Police.

He's still better than Mikey Shield though. Is Mikey working 19. If so perhaps he can weigh in on Cappleman V Crawford/Copwatch

When Fop endorses someone that candidate uses it in flyers. Older voters look at who the police are supporting. That is the power of our endorsement. We should not get out of making endorsements, We should force our union to back candidates that are pro police.

The FOP Newsletter is poorly written and very often arrives too late to be of any real use. I've suggested to numerous members of the FOP board that we transition to a digital format, which would greatly reduce costs and allow much more timely information. Then maybe they could put the copy through a spell-check, too...

3/16/2015 12:12:00 PM

Call them and tell them to remove you from the mailing list. Some of us like a paper copy. Some of us don't. Those who don't should be able to opt out of receiving it by snail mail.

Full day kindergarten , free this , free that , not enough minority workers , makes a comment that cps graduates get preference for police and fire department jobs .
That cost him votes . What about his cabinet , how many monorities ? He met with shooting victim parents , what about injured police officers and firefighter families ,
Choo Garcia is a man , future mayor , of all the people .
Rahm , open the books , you kicked the can down the road , now you have a CRISIS , that you want to strip benefits from unions . Pay up , end the free hand outs .

This department will never achieve it. The process is way too strict for this place. I don't think "the chicago way" is going to be acceptable in their eyes. "Has anyone been by Damen and Jackson lately? That big new building going up is Malcolm X College. Right across the street from.... Malcolm X College!

Rahm said, nearly 4 years ago, "I'm not going to be the one to tell these kids they can't get an education."

That sitting there is at least $250 million bucks that could have gone to pensions. $250 million bucks and there is already a Malcolm X College."

The current Malcolm X College (formerly Herzl College when the neighborhood was Jewish) opened its doors in 1974 and the officials promised that its graduates were going to become doctors and nurses in the Illinois Medical Center District across the expressway. Trouble is that the nursing students from Malcolm X struggle to pass the state certification exam after graduating.

How is it that a public building is obsolete after forty-one years?

The majority of City College credit classes are taught by poorly paid, part-time instructors who have not had a contract in three years. A new contract has not been a priority for the mayor.

The non-educator who is serving as the City College Chancellor has a vacation home in the suburbs while claiming to be an apartment dwelling Chicagoan for employment purposes.

7;34 am No one is beholding to anyone. Beholden. BEHOLDEN. Your verbiage is as bad as your judgment.

Rahm has no idea how to fund the 550 million ARC payment, either! He is actively working to have the law changed, to intentionally deprive our pension of the money it needs to generate investment income.

You complain because Garcia is associated with CTU? Rahm invites a meeting with the families of criminals who were shot by the police.
Rahm gives a MILLION DOLLAR grant to Ceasefire.
Rahm sends his new police superintendent directly from the arrival gate at the airport to Pf-flyer's church, to whine about the Pilgrims being racist.

Rahm is panderer-in-chief but you've got your head in the sand and won't see it.

What's so attractive about someone that just wants to move on to the next phase in his political career? It doesn't seem like his decisions would need to be long lasting in scope. Why would he care about the long term picture when he's going to scratch another political itch when it comes along.

You're obviously a friend or relative. I see no need to vote for someone that is unlikely to have my best interests at heart.

That was less than 80 people total. Less than 1% response

2. Members could vote from Survey from FOP site.

That survey is being thrown out. Jim Buckney, a former trustee and member of the City-Wide Team, called the lodge after having a conscience attack, and stated that he voted multiple times for Chuy. Yes you could vote more than one time using your email address if you did it from different ip addresses. Thanks officer Buckney for being honest.

3. Members could use the ballot provided in the news letter.[Which came out after the decision was made].
