Mitchell Makes Sense?
- Chicago’s segregated housing pattern and the race of persons accused of committing most gun crimes make it likely that the Chicago Police Department will bump heads with the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois.
That happened on Monday when the organization released its analysis of stop and frisk arrests.
The ACLU found that the controversial policing strategy is “disproportionately concentrated in the black community,” and that African Americans were “subjected to 72% of all stops, yet constitute just 32% of the city’s population.”
[...] When you look at these numbers, it certainly seems to suggest that Chicago police are targeting black people without reason for the invasive and humiliating treatment.
But I don’t believe that to be the case.
We're going to have to start smoking dope again, too.

If you're going to start drinking and smoking pot again, you might as well go all the way, and come out of the closet too.
What?!!!!! I find this post offensive! I mean, come on. You don't drink, SCC? What the F?
It's about time one of you lunkheads said it!
Thank you Mary Mitchell for your article. Nothing else is needed guys. Whatever articles she wrote in past against law enforcement, let it go. She got this one right. We're not going to complete our mission unless the community trusts us. Mary Mitchell wrote an accurate article and perhaps opened the door for better media reporting.
Repent for the end is nigh!
Good thinking SCC. I'm gonna roll up a big 'ole prescription dube, pour a tumbler of Jack, grab a bowl of tasty zesty snax and then me and the quadruped are gonna put on some Floyd (me) and Hawkwind (quadruped) before perusing Missy Mary's article.
"Chicago’s segregated housing pattern" has a very great deal to do with "the race of persons accused of committing most gun crimes."

There you go -- the "dialogue" which Eric Holder says "we're too cowardly to have," but which is immediately suppressed when someone does speak out about what they have experienced and observed for more than half a century.
Pass all the enforced-integration laws you want -- it cannot stop people who want a safe, quiet life from voting the other way with their feet.

...and she's still saying "No reason." Go have a look in the new expanded county morgue cooler with the electric hoists before you say that.
Have some kid at the Starbucks write racial remarks on my cup of coffee. That'll fix this, right?
Oops. Missed Mitchell's last line. What I wrote still stands otherwise, though, and I can be excused after being inundated with liberal goo all my life. Not awake yet, either...
"But I don’t believe that to be the case....the only sure way to reduce the number of stop and frisks in black communities is to significantly reduce the crime in those neighborhoods.
"That’s not on police.
"That’s on the people who live there."
Correct -- and it's good to hear.
Mitchell has to make Rahm look good for the election. Even if it means negating her usual lies for the moment.
The sheeple have short memories and after the election it will hate whitey as usual.
Crime is highest in black neighbourhoods among black men. What about that stat?
I have some 50 year old single malt scotch. Let me pour you a drink, you lovely young lady. You have the potential to become an A-list Hollywood actress. I could be your mentor.
I wanted you to meet my wife Camille. She's visiting her family a thousand miles away. Cheers!

The ACLU needs to sue the state of Illinois to reduce/eliminate the draconian expense and burdensome requirements for a concealed carry permit -- clearly the honor students would have permits for their gats if it wasn't so costly and time consuming to jump through the legal hoops of licensing, and that's discrimination, dammit!
Won't someone think of the hood rats' Second Amendment rights?
Mary turns 66 years this May, concern with her legacy?
I've been detailed to the academy for about 2 months now. I was floored to learn of the new stress free work place program they run. When a recruit is feeling overwhelmed or like they are being singled out, they can hold up a red card. They are then excused from that activity, and the instructors can't talk to that recruit for at least 2 hrs. If the recruit holds up the red card twice in a day, they are allowed to skip the next class and stay in a "stress free zone" and take a nap or relax until they feel better. What is going on with this department?
I don't care how liberal you are as long as you're honest. Give credit where credit's due.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but " stop and frisk " is a NY thing. It is NOT the same as a Terry stop ( Terry v. Ohio).
Chicago does not engage in that practice or isn't suppossed to according to dept policy
What is the overall stat of crime and what race commits the crime. For 32% of the population they commit near 80% of all crime. The figures are there in the CPD crime data report even Mcdata can see that.
Ok. DNA test time. Who has taken over Mary's body?
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Holy Shiite, I think I woke up in an alternate universe?!?!?!?
[This article is so 'un-Mary' maybe it should be investigated to see if some Alien Life-form took control of Mary's body and 'it' wrote the article. That would explain a lot ;-)]
Mary Mitchell defending law enforcement?
What next? Legit promotions on this job?
It's the end of days I tell you!
Look it up in the Bible...."and when the second seal was broken, Mary Mitchell started to make sense."

It has been destroyed.
I hope they give the recruits a stack of red cards to use when offenders swear at them, shoot them and aim their cars at them. Better save a couple of cards for when they handle a bad child abuse case or see a dead body in the gutter, too.
To the commenter about the red cards, well this department is GONE, RIP, DOA.....it will NEVER come back. Just survive and escape, get a pension and get out ASAP.........also a big congratulations to class 90-1 on starting our 25 th year, be safe, retire and move on.....

There. There it is -- the solution to "police overmilitarization" and "excessive use of deadly force." All patrol ofc. to be issued a red card.
200 of them coming down off the porches at you on a hot night, you hold up the card.
Like magic.
Everyone turns around, walks back to the stoop, and gets into the gin 'n juice again, and we're all good.
I knew we could do it.
The Liberals are the biggest racists. Most of the head Liberals are white. With theur law degrees from top notch Universities they are experts at ruining the Constitution. They only understand the 4th, 5th, and 14th anendment when money is involved. They even classify a person as "African American" when they are a fraction black and mostly white. Those days were over decades ago. Stop blaming the police for your mistakes LIBS.
"Never trust a man who doesn't drink." W.C. Fields.

Because when they call it "stop and frisk" it's a better news story since "stop and frisk" is controversial. Even though we all know only a fraction of people contact carded are actually frisked.
We're not going to complete our mission unless the community trusts us.
If you have a monopoly you don't need the trust of the community. Kinda like City Hall
Proposed Referendum for next Election,
Should Chicago Police target their street stops in regards to race, gender, and age to reflect the,
a) population of the city,
b) most common race, gender, and age of identified criminals in the area they patrol.
Let's be democratic about this.
If the citizens of Chicago want the C.P.D. to stop females half the time, and races by about a third each, and to spread those stops among various ages, then so be it.
It might be hard in some areas to find enough Native American Elderly Women to stop to round out the target demographics but give it a shot.
Major crime will go up.
Police brutality will go down.
Old women and 5yr old kids usually aren't high, holding dope, carrying a gun, or wanted by any police agency.
So its not a street stop turned into a fight for life.
Protests will go way down.
We will be a P.C. Police Dept.
We would not be doing our job, but what the hell.
What's this world coming to when Mary Mitchell occasionally makes sense?
The asshole editorial board of the Sun Times writes today that CPD can keep the lid on crime without so intrusively violating civil rights?
Apparently those strokes are not only noted economists(
they repeatedly call for our pensions to be cut),but now they're experts in policing too!
Hey Sun Times: GFY! and tell your good buddy Rahm to go fuck himself too
It is scary when we agree with Mary Mitchell!
UGH!
Lots of retired CPD enjoying the weed.
"When you look at these numbers, it certainly seems to suggest that Chicago police are targeting black people without reason..."
How can it be "without reason" when blacks commit well over 72% of the crimes?
What's going to happen next? Obama and Holder will admit they have a "black agenda"?
House on Forest Preserve is gang house. old man is a friend of the Milwaukee Kings. Simon City and MKs going at it big time. Lay with dogs wake up with fleas. Boo F'n Hoo!
OK, I'm may be confused but what neighborhoods seem to have the highest shootings and, God forbid, what neighborhoods have the highest homicide rate?????

It was the 8300 block. I believe it was 8315, and this shooting is related to the homicide that occurred about 10 days ago on 5800 block of Patterson. Someone else posted Milwaukee kings and royals feuding. 8500 block is forest preserves or golf course. tough crowd here.
2 things. If I held up a red card when I was in the academy it would have been my last day after frost or tremaine beat the shit out of me.
The shooting on forest preserve is gang related. That guys is a piece of shit.
Last two Supt's have been outsiders. Maybe it's just a coincidence - but up until they both arrive - we didn't do many CONTACT CARDS. Somehow under their leadership - these silly cards became an important factor in THEIR crime stats - up until then - very few cards were actually done - and CPD brass didn't use them as a viable stat - hell, bus checks counted more for activity than a contact card. Now a days - big bosses have out such an emphasis on these silly CARDS - and commanders want more, more more - for fear up being called out at CompStat. One of the first things they look at are amount of cards written. In Typical CPD fashion - CONTACT CARDS have become more important than ARRESTS or any other form of activity. Back in the day - they played the numbers game with ARRESTS - vs. today's numbers game with CONTACT CARDS. Silly games.
yeah, because bullets are flying past her in her neighborhood too.
