Nice Job Sheriff
- Cook County Sheriff's Tactical Sgt. Michael Dwyer was driving west on I-80 in Homewood about 7:30 p.m. Monday when he looked up and spotted something unusual on the Halsted Street overpass.
"It just looked like a person sitting up on the guardrail there, it was just out of the ordinary. It didn't seem safe," said Dwyer, 39.
After about 9-1/2 years with the department, Dwyer knew that something was wrong. He quickly got off the expressway and drove to the overpass.
The guy almost went over the side, but Sheriff Dwyer caught his clothing and dragged him back. Nicely done Sir.

You should of let him go. Another person"society" will have to watch
Holy clothes line, Batman!
Bravo, sir.
Great job!! Unfortunately this site will probably be the only place you'll hear that. That's why we need to take care of our own.
Great job just hope this save was not an IR number!
Congratulayions to the officer.
I hope the other guy uses his second chance at life wisely.
Sheriff's Sargent Mike Dwyer...nice going, Congrats. You are a Hero, to be commended. Glad you are around.
Good job Sheriff, it's what we do!!!
Nice Job! Not only did he save the life of the jumper but possibly the life(s) of people driving below!
Unless the would be jumper weighed around 40lbs this was a stupid idea.Very lucky the Sheriff didn't go overboard also.
Any officer who saves a jumper automatically earns the nickname Clarence. God bless you all and may everyone have A Wonderful Life.

Good sentiment, but let's get it right:
Sergeant Mike Dwyer
I would have kept driving.
Nice job-but nothing any real P/O wouldn't do.
Dwyer's clout laden and from the southside-where else but?
Ask him again about how many years he has been on the Police Department and tell him to tell the TRUTH this time. Jail or bailiff time doesn't count!
Not as bad as his older brother but hasn't been around long enough to be as despised.
