In the last election, hell, the last two elections, an endorsement from the White House meant almost certain defeat for the candidate. Let's hope he still got the touch:

Jobs like all those that are fleeing for the suburbs and out-of state?
Schools like the 50 that Rahm closed, mostly in the black community, without any input from the people and without any clear plan except to sell the land to Rahm's buddies or open charter schools with (again) Rahm's buddies?
Safety like that burgeoning homicide count? And the shootings that are up in every single district this year except 012?
Based on those metrics alone, Rahm should lose.

Progressives are heavy into Garcia. The Daily Kos, Democracy for America Howard Dean, MoveOn Chicago, Green Party, SEIU, Teachers Union, etc all progressives endorse Garcia. Progressives are the next step to socialists. Voting for Garcia is tantamount to signing your own and your children's future away to that of reaching the socialist utopia.
Voting for Rahm is not much better except Rahm doesn't want to flip society upside down like Garcia does. Rahm like being an elitist.
Neither candidate has any idea on how to fix the pension problem other than to penalize those who have contributed and the retirees by diminishing their in by stating that all the stake holders have to be willing to sacrifice for the good of the collective least there be no pension left. So boys and girls be prepared to pay more into the pension and get less out, while your aldermen, mayor and other public officials walk away with full pensions and bennies.

The two votes from my household went to Chuy earlier today as a result of everything you listed above, and more. Hopefully come April 7th Rahm will live up to the loser status he has projected throughout his campaign and the last four years all along.

historically low enrollments and high cost to repair the crumbling buildings sounds like a legit reason to close schools.
also, charter schools are much easier to manage, especially in the ghetto. a fight in a small charter school is easier to deal with than a brawl at a 3000 student high school that could turn into a riot in seconds.

Suburbanite here. Used to come to the city at least every other week end years ago. Now I bring the kids to one Cubs game a year and that's it. Too expensive and I feel unsafe. Even Navy Pier isn't the same anymore.

Daley endorsed Emanuel in 2011 and 2015. Daley and the Hispanic Democrat Organization worked to defeat Garcia when he was in the State Senate. Garcia was not the HDO candidate.

Pretty funny, can you name even one, "police hater" action Mary has ever taken? Why would you come on here every day and spread lies to your fellow officers? I do remember when Mary introduced a bill to get our retro when Shields fucked up. If you live in Norwood, Edison or Edgebrook, you know that for over 20 years, long before being a politician, she has been a decent person who made these community’s better.

It was not a bill it was a non-binding referendum that cost her nothing but gave the appearance she was concerned about the police, strictly a political move with no downside and no teeth because it was not a bill and could not become law.
Speaking of bills she has offered nothing in the way of a bill in her 4 years as a alderman. We want our alderman introducing meaningful legislation to help the working class, instead of voting 100% of the time for the ideas that the mayor comes up with that only benefit the top or bottom of the wage earners. Rahm claimed to not have raised property taxes but mysteriously my tax bill has gone up 10% for 2012 and 2013 since he has been in office.
On pensions:
Chicago Police and Firefighters have also have been stripped of 65% of their social security benefits even though they paid in the same as everyone else. They were promised a simple COLA by the City of Chicago of 3.50% non-compounding but the city reneged on this promise failing to award this benefit to those officers and firefighters who are now retired and born after 1955. Police and fire has just recently agreed to pension reforms where newly hired officers have to work longer for less of a pension benefit. If I hear another politician like Mary O'Conner say "Pensioners have to give a Little" or "COLA's need to be adjusted to the cost of living" or "I will not approve property tax increases until there is reform" like she said on the channel 11 debate I'm going to explode. All these politicians spout off and know nothing of the theft, concessions and abuse police and firefighters have experienced with their pension fund. Typical response from a part time alderman.

Rahm never took 1500 Asian , Caucasian , Mexican women to a free lunch downtown . Looks like buying votes from black ladies is ok . Maybe he should think before shouts the f word at black ladies . Let 's hope they don't fall for it .
Let's hope all the other women of different races remember that when they vote for Chuy .

Nope. Not cute. Never.
Tens upon thousands of people died for your right to live in a free country and for your ability to vote for a peaceful exchange of power every four years.
You demean yourself and you spit in the face of every family whose loved ones died for that right when you play children's games with your vote.
We have to change pension. No gold braid pensions and all police officers retire at rank before a merit promotion .
Raise minimum age to collect a pension to 57 , at 58 I plan on working until 63 . Cola should be started at age of mandatory retirement and compounded . If cpd raised mandatory retirement to 65 I'll be there , straight days , good furloughs , making $100k a year , not a bad job .
