Shots Fired at Off-Duty

  • Police were questioning several people Friday afternoon after shots were fired at an off-duty officer in the South Shore neighborhood.

About 4:15 p.m., the officer was in his personal vehicle in the 7600 block of South South Chicago when someone fired shots in his direction, police said.

The officer did not return fire and no one was injured, police said.

Area Central detectives were questioning several suspects in connection with the shooting. Additional details were not immediately available.
Be aware ladies and gentlemen. Bad things can happen anywhere any time.

Did they drive through a typical half-assed drug dealer turf shooting attempt? Most of those clowns cannot shoot straight when sober, much less high.

Shots fired at ODPO on border of 012 and 014. Did Kulbida bring the shitheads from Englewood with him?

From Fox News:

The men—ages 18, 20 and 27—were in a dark-colored SUV that pulled alongside the off-duty officer's vehicle about 11 p.m. in the 2400 block of West Division, police said. The men flashed gang signs at the officer, and the officer pulled away.

Here is another off duty incident in 014 early Friday morning:

Aggravated Assault to ODPO PO Torres, #7509, at 2601 W. Division recorded under RD # HY233589.

Off duty assigned to Area North Saturation Team was driving in his personal vehicle eastbound on Division at Washtenaw on 23APR15 at approximately 2250hours when a black Trailblazer, occupied by multiple M/4/early 20's began flashing gang signs at him.

Torres continued driving east and the vehicle followed. Torres heard gunshots being fired from the offenders. Torres called 911 as the vehicle continued following him and shooting at him. Torres lost the offenders and drove to the 014th District. Beat 1465A stopped the offending vehicle a short time after the initial call and Torres was able to identify the offenders and the vehicle. Multiple shell casings found at multiple locations. A citizen called 911 to report seeing the offenders dump the firearm and this was recovered by the E.T.'s. Three offenders transported to Area Central where the investigation continues. No injuries to anyone at the time of this report.

WE ARE UNDER ATTACK.

I spoke with that officer. And it was more than being shot at. His windshield was shot several time and the second shooter shot at the driverside door.

CHIRAQ lives in certain neghborhoods

City Council should amend the Safe Passage Ordinance: CHIRAQ ZONE travel at your own risk.

The F. O. P. medallions, police hat bands, police memorial plates, all serve one purpose in this day in age. They make you a target at the worst time, when you're off duty. No one cares that you're the police so stop advertising it.

Hey he showed restraint. If only Severin did the same, the City wouldn't be on the hook for 4.5 million.

Which begs the question since when does the City pay out on off duty incidents?

Come on SCC. you say "bad things can happen anytime/ anywhere" but the truth is that more bad things happen in certain locations than others.

Glad the P.O.is OK

Note the photo shows a bullet hole right at eye level on the driver's side.

The vehicle looks like an unmarked police vehicle..

The left the P.O. license plate clearly visible in the photo. I hope it was not a P.O. that shot that photo.

Advice given many times, register your vehicles and just about everything else to a Post Office Box instead of your home address.

I second, about removing Medallions and FOP stickers. I will go one step further. . . if you are commuting to work in your uniform, COVER UP! If you don't, you deserve getting fucked with. Even your Dickie shouldn't be visible. Your FTO shoulda' told you that. Better yet, finished getting dressed at work. Even a plain white tee shirt is a dead giveaway.

When a sworn police officer is taking police action, that's when.

Just thankfully God was threr or angels protecting this officer, To Mota talking about the police items on your vehicle that I agree to 100%, why tempt anyone! I had a brand new car Black in color, went to a suburban mall about 2 years ago, came out big scratch right down center of hood, not a possible accident deliberate, had FOP sticker on windshield thought a police hater, now my new car no stickers.

If your the police stickers and assorted police items don't help, if your stopped your the police you can ask for a courtesy without displaying to the world your "the police!"

Two weeks ago, I saw in unincorporated Maine Twsp (Niles) a car driven with Police Memorial License plates with the Memorial emblem (on the left side of the plate) and the "LE" on the right side of the plate.
The license plate read 'ALLAH'.
Pictures are available...
How do you guys feel about that?

I thought specifically religious plates, as well as offensive plates (profanity), weren't allowed by the state.
