No Openings Again?

They took 100 patrol officers and made detectives.

Took another 31 and made them sergeants.

Certainly more than a few retired since 01 January.

There must be openings somewhere.

Naw...

I pray for anyone on a beat car.

cameras hanging on their necks

Too many white shirt worried up contact card.

10 hour days in future.

commanders not letting officers have time off.

YET you continue to believe that the cream rises to the top.

Don't go on the medical when you are sick.
Change your start time so the city won't pay you overtime.
Don't go to court even thou you know you will be out in 15 minutes.
Train multiple recruits and not be compensated.
Blow off paper jobs so you will not be in backlog.

You have the city by the balls good luck with the dream of being a merit anything...

Watch each other's 6...

Carry two.

At least one magazine of +p ball for vehicle borne
assholes.

Yeah yeah... Carbines are ok but every car should also have a compact semi-auto 12 gauge.

Be prepared to tear your car up....
These assholes ARE actively hunting Policemen
and they know Policemen are constrained from

the media and the politicians will predictably

You know...
Policeman with a smoking pistol and some dead shit-heads avec guns laid out in a blasted to pieces ghetto

Bunch o' ignant m/fers jaw-jacking about "bad optics" when Policemen ruthlessly tear that ass up in these bad street encounters.

So I'm hating the 10 hour days in 005. The labor management team comes into our roll call in December and tells us sorry so late that we going to do this pilot program. But if it's not for you there will be a super bid after the first quarter. That's come and gone. Still waiting on that superbid you lying fucks.

A little off topic but I wanna rant on the shit I saw during the NFL detail. How the f*ck does the city get away making brand new recruits/ppo's working from 0700 to 2330 for four days straight? I just got off my status and I could not help but feel bad for these guys! A lot of them were not getting lunches either so me and some of the guys were going to different post and telling to go get something to eat. White shirts were so unorganized, one is telling you one thing while the other is telling you another. They took all this manpower from other districts and had us doing shit. On the last day we sat for over an hour at the end not knowing what the hell they wanted us to do. Any PPO reading this is you are assigned to details don't expect a boss to give you lunch or break you need to do your own thing. Help each other out for Godsakes!! Lessons learned never volunteer for any of these pathetic details.

5/04/2015 01:29:00 AM

Hey "just got off my status", relax Francis... You are one salty little guy and you got a very long and miserable career ahead of you with the way you sound. You do realize what dept you work for right? The CPD is the definition of ass backward political buracracy. Do you think your the first copper to realize the bosses are worthless? Save your anger and "ranting" for your non cop buddies you always try to impress. You just got done with probation so you should know that ppo's are very expensive security guards. That was very heroic of you to come to their rescue and save them from starvation. Good job reciting what you heard guys with time on say about not volunteering for shit. So good luck tough guy, and sorry to anyone who had to train you or has to work with you. But don't worry, your go get 'em screw the bosses attitude will land you on a tac team in no time!

The NFL wanted it there. The NFL also wanted to close down Congress Pkwy in front of the Auditorium Theater. The NFL wanted the visuals provided by the skyline like they had it. I don't know who paid for police to be there nut the NFL asks for, and received, police at all other NFL events and games. So I guess they figure, why not here.

Doubt it, not with both with new police stations. It would make more sense to close 025 and divide that between 016, 017 and 015; all new stations. That way they can bulldoze the old 025 and get some "campaign contributions" from the developers.

I too work a beat car ( have been for the last 12 years) . Maybe I'm wrong but I sense a hint of "hate" for guys/gals that make it out of patrol. I've never aspired to be a detective/ sgt/et/ swat guy or whatever but if that's where people end up because they truly want it I'm happy for them and so be it . The problem as I see it is the city not hiring enough bodies when clearly they are budgeted for and our " union" not making a big enough deal about it , .. Just my two cents

5/05/2015 12:18:00 PM

They are drawing down beat cops in the districts to prep for the 10.5 hour day Citywide. Again, wiping out an entire watch means loss of positions. There's no more afternoon beat car, just days and midnights. Why the FOP is allowing the department to downsize and lose members I have no idea. Less coppers paying into pensions. Once this happens the City won't go back to 3 watches because they would have to hire cops to fill those beats again. This is a permanent downsize.

As long as everyone is short there will be no bidding. If everyone is down 8% from the new and improved authorized strength but a few districts are down let's say 15% you will see some bidding to them. Look for very little bidding if any until a recruit class is coming off probation.

That's too funny. 4 whole days?

Our class did "loop traffic detail" on probation and got treated like garbage for 5 or 6 months of 10-17 hour tours with bosses announcing cancelled rdo's on your friday right before checkoff the entire 5 months and intimidating anybody who called in...

No time and a half, of course.

But we called FOP anyway and asked how the city can get away with violating federal labor law. They said, "you're a p.p.o and you're a salaried employee."

The whole group went and got a labor attorney who said "that's bullshit. You're union is caving in, we''ll take your case."
signed on to class action but the city notified our FOP, who, in turn, called us back in and said, "on second thought, we'll take that case...come on back, but you all have to fire your attorney and sign with ours..."

FOP then proceeded to throw out our case to earn some favor with city hall.

Shields wasn't the only snake. Donohue and Nolan are in cahoots, too, just like Dean is now.

City is unlikely to care about stations to be closed, look what they did to 019/023. 023 was a few years ago a brand new building, their lockup was used only temporarily, when it got closed it was cannibalized for parts. Now arrestees have to be processed there initially then sent to Belmont/Western for prints/photos/holding.

025 also contains the court building, judges, and personnel, and there are no facilities for courts, their workers, or prisoner separation from police for court in 15, 16, or 17.

Why would you elect to close down ANY district? Let alone 025? Sure, it's the land of misfit toys, but still a very busy district. The station is falling apart, but compare the 025 station to the Harrison station and we're talking world's apart. Why not close 011 and merge with 015? Silly ideas. Or close 007 and merge with 006? Who starts these dumb fucking rumors? Merging 016 and 017 would account for exponential square mileage to police.

City will merge 24 and 20. Likely merge 14 with someone either 12 or 17. That would leave the city with an even 20 districts. Re number 25 as 13, 22 as 14. Then go to 10 radio zones. Put 2 on the same zone as 3. 9 and 12 on same zone again. 19 and 20 on the same zone.
