Baltimore to Fire/Arrest Police
- More Baltimore police officers likely face arrest as the result of reforms in a scandal-ridden department that requires "wholesale change," Commissioner Anthony W. Batts wrote in a wide-ranging opinion piece published in The Baltimore Sun.
"Our reform efforts will very likely see more police officers arrested," Batts wrote. "We will have more officers who are forced out because their outdated, outmoded views of policing do not match the standards the community expects and demands."
The piece was published Friday on The Sun's website and appears in Sunday's print editions.

There are Baltimore Police that deserve to go to jail. There are already over a dozen that have been convicted and are in jail. Baltimore has others that should give up their shield and find another career.
But this "Leader" has just tarred the entire department with his "editorial." Their clean-up will be a witch-hunt, and the politically connected will be absolved.
Do Police Departments ever employ recruiters to entice officers from other cities? Because I bet the recruiters in Maryland could do a land office business this year.
If I was anyone that worked in Baltimore, the house would be up for sale, and my resume would be out on the street. It is going to get bad out there this Summer. And the Police are not going to be able to stop all of it.

What is lacking is 'LEADERSHIP!' What any "NORMAL" police boss knows is that everyone above the rank of Lieutenant ,especially from HQ,, should hit the streets in a beat car riding 3 or 4 deep with the PO's and show them that they have their back, and how to do police work in the new environment. The Mayor, especially, should hit the bricks with the Dept. members and condone their hard work and effort, to stem the violence, from the front. That's right, you don't manage people to fight a battle; you 'LEAD' them. This is what has been lost on the civilian millennial's. It's not their fault really, because they never learned from the lessons of the greatest generation, and what ever B.S. approach they come up with must be just as good as real leadership, so they think. And yet, it seems that all the police politicians (exempts) and elected politicians, are still running for cover to see how it plays out before they make a move, Very sad really, all they have to do is show they have guts and will do the right thing even if it torpedo's their career. I work in a busy district. In the last six months we have had like four vehicle chases. In each chase the vehicle pursuit was terminated. Yet some of the officers decided to keep chasing. You are stupid! Stupid as stupid can be!!! Look around you and see what is happening in places like Baltimore. If you run over someone or crash into someone you are fucked. You will end up wearing an orange jumpsuit. If the chase is terminated then for the love of God just stop chasing and wait there at the termination point.
Pretty soon the leadership in Baltimore will clamp down and then the officers will get proactive again. All the bosses have to do is deny time off, kick officers off their car, switch start times, etc. Then boom the officers will become proactive again. That is what happened in New York. The white shirts hold all of the power.
I don't care about Baltimore or New York or any other place and how they do things. The sad, sad truth is that this is Chicago where se once had a police department second to none that knew how to handle both the decent citizens by keeping them safe, and the criminal element by keeping them in fear. Those days and the acceptable balance that existed are now dead by the hands of socialist progressives, or more properly, domestic enemies of the Constitution.

Yes, the chief made it clear that Baltimore is an African American city. He also seems to be laying a foundation to keep his job once things go from bad to worse, as they are assured of doing. When things start to hit bottom he can rely on his efforts at " reform". I am not sure of what scandals the chief is referring to, but I would be willing to bet that Baltimore, a once proud and competent police department, sunk to new lows because of lower hiring standards, just like Washington DC went through a decades ago. Baltimore had a great rep in the 90's.
I just finished watching "The Manchurian Candidate" staring Frank Sinatra. It is exactly what's wrong with our country today. We have a fake leader in the White House that should be kicked in the ass and impeached.

There are some reports that whenever Baltimore officers even do a traffic stop, crowds of people will surround them. If the officers do a street stop then a crowd will surround them and have their cameras out. Imagine working in those kinds of situations. The solution then is simple, don't make traffic stops and don't make street stops. Just answer your calls for service and do reports.

The other day CU was cut to 10 % for 3,5 July.....some guys with approved CU are getting it unapproved. Turns out the letter that FOP signed gives the dept. absolute say in what the alottment for CU is. See the catch phrase or wording is " up to 15%" .... So the department will attempt to grant CU "up to " 15 %..... It's not 15% but up to 15%... So any district can restrict CU from 1% UP TO 15% ....so in essence the department doesn't have to grant any time due percentage based on the wording of the letter signed by FOP. So for those of you who still don't under stand this it means " the letter between FOP and the Department regarding CU is worthless"...the city can set any percentage for CU they want.....enjoy your summer and thanks to FOP for coming through for the membership again!
