Dallas to Protect Police

  • Dallas officials say it could cost nearly $1,000 per square foot to install bulletproof glass at police headquarters, the scene of a brazen weekend attack by a gunman.

But Mayor Mike Rawlings vowed Monday that money would be no object in providing long-term protection for Dallas officers.

"We've got the money to do what's right," Rawlings said. "We've got to make it safer."
Of course, Dallas is in a successful state, not a failed one

I think it's true. Texas seems to have a different political philosophy, than does Illinois. I am also sure that the city fathers of Dallas are quite unlike Chicago's leadership.

Also, a red state, not a blue one. Coincidence??? I think not.

From what I hear Texas may be a good place to move to, once I put in a couple more years in this crappy city. I hear it gets real hot down there in the summer, but they have AC.

Police deserve protection.
So do the Courts, the Hospitals, City Hall, and a dozen city departments.
So should the citizens and taxpayers.
Where do they stop?

Will they armor up the police cars? Or is the protection just for the bosses and their butt-buddies downtown?

"The Dallas Police Association and the local Fraternal Order of Police lodge said they had complained about unsecured parking, unlocked interior and exterior doors, and the lack of bulletproof glass at headquarters and the department's seven substations."

Chicago isn't the only one?

The problem is that it would be cheaper to lose some cops than it is to put in bullet resistant glass. A "progressive" would not spend the money, cops are the enemy. "You knew you could be killed when you took the job."

Looked like the glazing in the lobby was pretty good to begin with...no matter.

Time to up-armor.

In Chicago it would cost two grand per square foot. Rahm wouldnt pay for it if it was only one buck per square foot.

Now, kees me you fool!!!!

OT - So just came back from a short furlo in the Sunshine State looking for a place to run to when we retire in a few years from this sinking ship. Landed at O'hare about 9pm after a rough flight because of the T-storms. Walked through the terminal to baggage claim and you know what we didn't see . . . not a single CPD officer, none, zip, zero. Waited for our luggage for over an hour because ground operations were suspended because of lightning. Not that there was any kind of announcement from O'hare personnel or the airline as to why we were waiting. We actually had to get the info from a baggage handler taking a piss in the shitter. People were agitated, stressed and getting loud. We finally get our luggage and head out to find our son who has been circling the pickup area for over an hour waiting for us only to find a situation that has broken down into total pandemonium. Drivers screaming at each other, passengers screaming at each other, people in general pushing and shoving. And you know what we didn't see . . . not a single TMA or officer trying to control the situation, none, zero, zip. So great to be back home in the city that works . . . NOT!

The only lives that matter in this cesspool are those of the privileged city officials. 24/7 security details cost the city a ton of money and subtracts from the already scarce manpower we have, but hey -the "man of the people" needs protection from the millions who hate him. They wouldn't spend 2 cents more than they had to on anyone else's safety. As long as the money keeps coming in, they could care less.

So now CPD is responsible for your luggage, making an announcement as to weather, why your bags are taking an hour, and irate passengers? Go back to Florida and stay there, fuckhead. As for the traffic, this may come as a newsflash....you weren't the only one coming in on a flight. The roadway there, for lack of a better term, is like a giant cul-de-sac. A one way circle that gets backed up. But it's your world, we just live in it. I forgot that it's all about you.

Slowly but surely, we're heading towards a dystopia where police hole up in fortified bunkers - leaving the streets to the savages. I suspect this is the norm in a lot of third-world countries now.

The problem isn't bullet-proof glass or lack thereof; the problem is devolution to a "society" where's it's needed at all. I don't think there's any solution.

I retired to Texas...one of best things I have done great weather..terrific housing prices the best neighbors and no sympathy for criminals. My street has whites, hispanics and blacks. All either work or are retired our properties are well maintained. If my neighbors could vote to bring back public hangings they would

6/'21-07:52 You are right- It's embarrassing to travel to other destinations and observe well armed, good conditioned Police Officers & reflect on the sorry state of our CPD Airport Detail. Then you see the younger Aviation Police with everything on the duty belt but a firearm. Our Aviation police are certified peace officers but His Royal Highness Richie the Chicken Hearted disarmed the Aviation officers. When you realize how insecure the airports are-how can we ever hope to see well constructed, secure facilities and parking lots at our District stations - let alone HQ??

Be mindful...

The liberal fruit-nuts are fleeing the failed state of California
and are trying to infest the "Free" western states with their
foolishness.

They tend to gravitate toward larger cities/state capitols.

>Liberal Loons blow into town and weave themselves
into the local fabric<

"Hey guys! Let's make a law prohibiting... (-insert der verboten HERE!-)"

The Common Sense People Should Say:
"Why? Common sense says not to do that or do it at your
peril already."

Liberal Loons in whiny voice: "But if doing it was against the law, everyone
would be saferrrrr! Think of the chill-drennn!"

The cosmos rolls it's collective eyes at these nannystatist twits.

Hey,11:45, do you have ANY reading comprehension skills at all? He didn't say that the CPD should handle your luggage, make weather announcements or anything even remotely resembling any of that. He simply said that there were no Police around anywhere even when trouble was brewing. That makes him a fuckhead? Oh, wait, I'll bet you work at the airport and took the guys LEGITIMATE complaint personal. And YOU call HIM a fuckhead? Take a look in the mirror.

11:45:00 AM - Reading is a skill moron and obviously one that you lack. Your retort makes absolutely no sense as to the original post. I suspect you're just a "fuckhead" who likes to see his rantings on the blog OR more than likely just a lazy fat ass that is assigned to the airport.

I once had a guy from New York at O'Hare, in between planes, ask to make a police report for his stolen laptop. I asked where it was stolen. He said near the American Airlines ticket counter, at the Mexico City Airport. In Mexico City, Mexico. He was in a hurry. Apparently he didn't like my suggestion to take it up with the Mexican authorities or Mexican Consulate. The Mexican Police at the airport in Mexico City told him to go to a local police station outside the airport. He left Mexico instead. It probably was last seen on http://www.ebay.com/bhp/mexico
