A Sea of Red (UPDATE)

What? No, not the Blackhawks parade, although that was a festive event.  No, we were talking about 007 and the south side:
  • A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead after he and two other men were shot Thursday afternoon in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood, officials said.

Four other men were also injured in other shootings Thursday, police said.
At one point Thursday afternoon, Englewood recorded something like 5 separate shootings during the afternoon/evening. Officers were so busy responding to and cleaning up shooting scenes that regular police work fell by the wayside. Which, ironically, contributed to a sizable percentage drop in crime across the city - because if the police aren't recording regular crime, it doesn't count!

Crime is down!

UPDATE: According to comments and various e-mails, NINE shootings in under 16 hours. And the only reason it wasn't worse is that even the thugs have to get some sleep.

WTF D-Chicago Troops? You guys on your lunch break at Wrigleyville watching the police working or what?

Really...why were you there if you weren't doing squat?

Looked real professional standing around with your uncovered heads and your hands in your pockets!

To the shaveleg Troop: That horse was WORKING! Quit petting him! Do you do that when a K-9 is working? Probably not since no dogs are looking for dope wherever it is you hide all shift! You'd only do it once...

You want to pet some horses, come on down to my district.

Btw State, some squads were damaged and arrests made but it's cool if you want to play with the mounted unit

6 shootings- 9 shot in 007. I thought Sgt. Shemp was coming to teach us how to be the police. Oh, that's right he's IOD just like every summer.

The city claims 2 million downtown and Soldier Field for the Blackhawks Rally. They always overstate that stuff so I will maybe give them anywhere from 750,000 - 1,000,000 people in real numbers.

Out of that, how many shot? How many killed? How many arrests? How many convenience stores looted and burned? How many squad cars burned? How many police officers injured? How many armored vehicles were needed? How many outside agencies sent people? How many State Police, National Guard, FBI agents etc. were called in? What about the new Eric Holder? Was there a Justice Department investigation launched?

How many drunken, drug addled idiots drove stolen cars into officers? How many fat breeders screeching about how their "baby" was innocent. Where was Jesse Jackson, Pfleger, Sharpton etc? How many lost children were at the lost child tent at the end of the event? How many officers will swear at roll call today that they "will never again work that event because of all the savages." No IOD reports?

As far as I could see the answer to everything was zero. Zero officers accused of wrongdoing. Zero indicted, so far. Zero accused of doing whatever to "innocent" people. All I saw was Police Officers doing their job perfectly. I did see one officer wearing the baseball cap on duty along the parade route. Disgruntled guy heading for some suspension time, for sure.

It was so nice to see huge crowds of people from the suburbs saying things like "Gee, I haven't been downtown for 20 years but I just had to come down for this" as they came early and lined the parade route with their lawn chairs etc.

What a great City this could be if it were populated only with Blackhawk fans. That can be the new standard of behavior, "Why can't you behave like Blackhawk fans, you don't see them raping and robbing and killing and shooting and shit."

Indeed.

That district is quite small area wise yet they have 400 plus officers assigned there. They've also got dozens and dozens of officers working VRI there on a daily basis yet the carnage continues. Hmmmm what could be the problem?
It sure as hell isn't from lack of police resources. Englewood has probably 2-3 times the police resources as some " quieter" districts like 022, 016 etc.

So the state was at Wrigleyville, and they were taking pictures 1:49 and 2:33 in, at least they got to wear their ball caps and the D.I. Hat
Also it's a good video on the mounted unit

Worldwide attention and they still have no clue....hey Rahm, you send Garry packing and get someone from within. Someone that everybody can work with....then tell those dime store preachers to shutup and stand back.

Well, at least CPD doesn't have to worry about being vilified.

The community leaders, State Attorneys office, and news stations will go about as business as usual.

I'm not a Garry supporter by any means, but what do people think is going to happen if he is replaced? Do they think people are suddenly going to stop slaughtering each other because there's a black or brown superintendent? He's the scapegoat and that what they pay him for, but it really doesn't matter who's in charge.

The WORLD should be filled with Blackhawks fans. Well, except the fans who choke cops and throw bottles at them.

We also wouldn't have to deal with people who like to shoot up churches.

I hope there wasn't too many of those who choke cops etc. Probably fewer than on an average Thursday in a crowd of over a million people. Statistics and all say there should have been some shooting and maybe a few murders in there but there were not.
