Retired Judge Does What?
- In a case the FBI is investigating, a retired judge released a dashcam video that shows a Chicago Police officer shooting into a car on the South Side in December 2013, according to the Chicago Reporter.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported last month that the FBI was investigating the shooting in which two black teens were wounded on Dec. 22 near 95th and La Salle. The shooting happened after Chicago Police officers curbed a stolen car packed with joyriders, the department said in a statement after the incident.
This is an on-going investigation. And the judge is retired from the bench - should he even have this in his possession?

They CURBED it?
Post-prior restraint, annoying interruption with malice aforethought -- unlawful forcible containment, kidnaping or some f__ing thing.
"Loevy! Loevy! Come thee hither and be our $alvation," cry we from the depths of our inherent and bottomless depravity.
J-riders a new flag? What they throw up passin by? Make like a "J" or something?
Tried, can't do it. Ol' hands cramp bad enough as it is. Never get the arthritis untangled...
...unless I have to let a few off. That is non-negotiable, Advil or not.

Heads up. Skull men be on the road, my brother.
See?! Deys was joyridin' and da poleeese done shot dems nice boys fo no reason!
Just wait until the copcam videos start making their way onto YouTube! It's going to be high hilarity! Be careful what you ask for, folks. You might just get it.

Forget it Jake, It's Chicago.
An ongoing 18 month investigation? With a video? Was a Daley family member involved? Have the detectives retired and started working for the CCSAO?
Clearly Lord Rahmulus was trying to hide this video. Remember spin spin spin. Crime is down. Why last year in the 42nd precinct, I'm sorry imaginary 42nd District, on this date there was one murder. This year there were none. CRIME is DOWN.
As for the Judge having the video I'm unsure of what the consequences or "legal ethics" is of that.
City is stupid for trying to hide the video.
Let the arguments and trolling commence!
Go Rauner bust up the public the unions ALL the unions. Get the police and fire unions too.
This asshole proudly proclaims that in addition to being a judge for 18 years, he was a public defender for 17 years.
He is still defending these people.
"Joyriders." Is that what we call auto thieves now?
A> the video is wrong. It was a stolen car not speeding
B> It appears like the bad guys stuck the 1st squad car.
C> How was the car taken? Gunpoint?
D> Was an officer behind the car?
E> Did one of the offenders reach for something or point something resembling a weapon at officers?
F> Department policy does not equal state law for use of force.
See homicide guys can retire then give away files that are evidence to appease the news jerks too.
Shooting into a car full of people? Wrong on so many levels. Yes, these dash cam videos should be released and this case should be investigated. I agree with the judge. Nothing immoral or illegal here.
"...the judge is retired from the bench - should he even have this in his possession?"
No one went through him on the way out and "recovered" the gavel?
Whoa-ho. Slipup.

The retired judge is wrong in releasing the video. I saw the video. The officer was unjustified in shooting at the moving vehicle. The vehicle was moving away and was in reverse and he shot into it. The car at any time was not a threat. Like it or not, love it or not, the department does have rules, general orders, etc. Those rules are there for the pure legal indemnification for the city of Chicago. You would be wiser for following those rules. Some people better wake up and realize that. I am not saying to ever place your life or your coworkers life in danger by not following basic rules of precaution and common sense.
because the city chose to have it leaked and found the right idiot to do it, just like the "antlers" picture got leaked when the city figured it was going to lose the McDermott case, that strategy worked
Being the police is hazardous to your freedom and financial future in this climate. You could have 20 years on without ever having been involved in a shooting or obtained a CR number, and after being involved in a shooting the media brands you a rogue officer. Not cool at all.
the fed close their eyes to some judicial "dirt" in exchange for the video
SO after seeing this video the only question you posed was should the Judge have the video ???? Ummmm, did you watch the video????
I can think of a few other questions. None of them have to do with a judge.
Retired judge Berman from juvy court has always favored the criminal in his courtrooms.
He's a far left loon who had trouble ruling impartially.
Note his racist comment on how no officer would have fired on a carload of white teens.
The big question is: how did this person get the video? Something isn't kosher
"Should he even have this [video] in his possession?" is your question?
Not "should the officer have been holding his gun sideways and unloading at a reversing car full of unarmed citizens?
Priorities.
What firearms instructor at the academy taught this officer to hold his gun sideways with one hand? C'mon man! Perhaps just another shitbird with a star.....just sayin.
OK Anita Alvarez what are you gonna do to the Judge?
The States attorney office signed for the video and why does the judge have his own copy?
Never recall a judge handling any evidence!
No special prosecutor No new Conference with all your underlings in cheap suit behind you. If the state attorney does nothing then every police officer will be free to make copies of all those exciting police cams and post them freely all over the net.
Never forget the states attorney in the dildo store whose case was thrown out. judge and states attorney are all in the same click.
I was a ppo in 006 when this happened and remember it like it was yesterday. I remember one of the guys on scene telling everyone that it was not a good thing. What got me was that he was on the same team. Hope everyone gets cleared somehow. Even the idiot Copper on scene.
The judges are above the law. They think they are GOD.

What-up Though
and WHOOO!
Hmmmm...
>Reaches for bottle labelled
"Totality of Circumstance"<
Unless there is "something else,"
the actions of ONE has the possibility
Of making the optics of this video
very difficult to overcome.
Retired Judge Nimrod who (illegally?) had possession of this
video?
Being a critter of Chicago political fuckery, he was told to
hang on to this for future use in Rahm's War Against The Police.
Or...
He held on to it as a self enrichment bargaining chip.
Watch him to see what "coalesces" around him.
As for the Copper who dropped shots?
Who knows what, if anything, he saw that
perhaps everyone else on-scene missed?
Shit.
Can.
Happen.
Policing is maddeningly messy, unpredictable
and dangerous because of the majority end-users
of Police service are messy, unpredictable and
dangerous themselves...
The upside?
It appears the other Coppers on-scene didn't do the
old "Well I shot cuz somebody else was shooting."
Trigger Discipline in a kinetic situation.
The Officer who fired will have his chance
to explain the how and why.
Other upside?
No screaming, hair-on-fire, dick/balls/ass hangin'-out-da-window
triple digit speed chase through the city's streets.
No stolen car full of hyenas in head-long, break-neck
flight from The Police - Blowing through a red light and
spontaneously disassembling a school bus full of nuns
on their way to bingo...
No Policemen and Firemen responding to the
above scene and having the joy of sorting out a wadded-up, fused
together, God-Awful flaming metal and human flesh mess.
Within THAT context,
The discharging Officer saved more grief than he caused.
BUT...
The big problem as I see it is the officer did not have his hat on.
I'm not rooting against this guy but damn, how is anyone going to explain this away? Is there an angle from another in car camera that will show something that justifies the shooting?
What firearms instructor at the academy taught this officer to hold his gun sideways with one hand? C'mon man! Perhaps just another shitbird with a star.....just sayin.
6/18/2015 11:31:00 AM
I thought the same thing. I think the copper has watched too many rap videos.
The fact that the video was released by a judge does not excuse/explain what is on the video.
The officer is fucked
(OT) Look over here where the race baiters are calling for race riots as usual! This is ridiculous, the Black hawks just won their 3rd cup no problems, whats the common denominator? The bulls won years ago tear gas, destruction, taxpayers paying so much overtime and paying for damage to property!
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jun/18/black-activists-fear-race-war-amid-charleston-shoo/
This shooting was terrible a crazy punk goes nuts and shoots up the church, like the crazy that shot up Colorado theater, and the other who killed all the children! Face it people are insane, but it does not justify more destruction right so called black leaders? Calling on obama, jackson, sharpton and the rest of the racial "pay us off crew" to speak to their people about this!

Gee, I wonder why race baiters think everything is about race. I just can't figure it out.
Just watched the video....what a clown.
' You could have 20 years on without ever having been involved in a shooting or obtained a CR number, and after being involved in a shooting the media brands you a rogue officer'
You could replace your notion of being a police officer for 20 years and good with being just a person for 20 years and never having caused issues... then one day you shoot someone. Are you still good because you've been good the past 20 year? No, absolutely not, that's ludicrous.
Your actions now will be what people remember, not what you did 15 years ago.
The story says that the Judge presided over one of the cases meaning that the criminal case for that defendant is over. The video was part of the evidence and therefore is part of the court file. Anyone could release it. Unusual, yes. Illegal or unethical, No!

OT. Has anyone who lives on 1631's beat ever call 311? I called in an incident at 3300 N. Pittsburgh and I was told by the caller taker that the computer says that address comes back to River Grove. I explained that Belmont was the border. My explanation was met with a snide remark and was told again it was River Grove. I still don't know if the call was dispatched. I guess I live in River Grove then, I hope I don't get fired for living in the burbs.
When I read about the large number of court settlements and the amounts the City pay's out, I think of crap like this! And then idiots make every attempt to justify this clowns behavior.
If the retired judge is bored maybe he could investigate Denny Hastert's relationships with the students he taught and coached when they were in high school.
I hope that he is canned and the FOP distances themselves from this loon. What in the crap was up with him holding his gun like that anyway? Was he trying to recreate a scene from some movie? I for one am glad he isn't out on the street anymore, and couldn't care less about the judge having kept this video and releasing it to the media.

@@@@@@
What about the citizens in te small black car in which the offending vehicle was quickly approaching at an increasing speed? I'm sure if those citizens who were right in the path of the offending vehicle would have been struck they would have sustained injuries.. Who knows, if the offenders were determined enough to still lay on the gas and continue ramming the vehicle and pushing it until they made good their escape they could have further injured the citizens in that small car.. Also, if they would have struck that car, injured them then fled and got away is it possible they would do it again to more citizens? It's entirely possible.. Be sure to rewatch the video and look at the path of the offending vehicle and that citizen vehicle.. No doubt that vehicle was going to get smashed. Something to think about...
Copper isn't a shitbird, don't open your fucking mouth if you have no idea who or what your talking about.
I learned how to hold my gun sideways and shoot from watching tv.
Someonein the car may have been screaming for help and the officer may have shot in preservation of life. The things that took place on camera after the shooting look worse than the shooting itself. Looked like a combo of scenarios in the academy and the dallas pd video.
Please tell me there was at least a gun in the car

Crack-pipe logic much?

Maybe not but he's definitely a moron for holding his gun like a gangsta in the hood.
C'mon man.....Gotta do better than this!!!

9:25pm....Looking at that video, despite the fact they were reversing into another car on the street, there was no way that even if they had struck them, they wouldve been seriously injured. That wouldve been the ONLY excuse to still fire into a fleeing vehicle since it was traveling away from the officers. Bad shoot period.
Unless the p.os report stated the guys in the hot car pointed a weapon at them during their escape......bad shoot.
Copper shooting the pistol sideways,"Gangsta Style" is hard to defend. No Police Department trains that move. Then again, there is so little in-service training at CPD outside of videos; maybe cops learn more from the movies and T.V. about being a cop than they learn from the Job. Does this mean the Retirees are the "Expendables"?"G"
The judge better take a look at 720 ILCS 5/32-8(C) (Tampering with public records). The sentence is a class 3 with a loss of all pension benefits.
Wow, didn't realize how many marksman and accurate Olympic shooters there are in this department, maybe look at the video closer and interpret the law in its entirety....
Has anyone who lives on 1631':
when your in front of the computer desk top or PDT click on the intranet, sign in CLEAR, go to the CABODLE link type in the 2 week time period, beat 1631 look up the one specific crime on the beat cover the time period for over at least the last two months- look for any crime trend(s).
I called in an incident at 3300 N. Pittsburgh and I was told by the caller taker that the computer says that address comes back to River Grove
That's how crime is killed in the busy end of 016
I agree no cop in the history of policing has ever been taught to hold or shoot a Gun "Gangsta Style" obviously he learned it from his favorite Boys in the Hood movie. You are right he may be a great person ,but based on the video he is obviously a bit thuggish. If the video is accurate unfortunately his use of force was not justified and he should be at call back for the remainder of his carrer. I hate to see cops get jammed up ,but honestly who among you would work with that officer if the video is accurate ? I suspect very few if any at all!
@ 12:27------
You must be referring to "The Mouth". One Drunk Dumb Fuck!
Exuberant youth. Joyriders. Let's hope the journalistic morons who write this Orwellian prose meet up with them one of these days.
It look like a good shooting.
They should give MP and his awful gun toting thuggish ways the boot. We don't need him.
I realize that not everyone in the department has the full story on this one. Here they lay it out pretty clearly. I'm glad that I found this on a different post on social media about this one. It pretty much erases any doubt about this one being a bad shoot, or not. Sadly, no matter who he is or knows, he is probably done.
http://chicagoreporter.com/video-chicago-cop-opens-fire-on-black-teens-in-car/
All the "What if's" posed by previous bloggers better be used by this copper to save his job and possibly keep him out of the shitter. Because by the looks of the video, he's going to need some creative scenario.
Just a little thinking before you let a magazine go at someone will serve you well. And always remember, once your shit ends up on the news or goes viral, no matter how right you think you are, if it looks bad, you're going to go through some shit.
Ppo on scene must be an expert on different scenarios when sh:# hits the fan....lord forbid your ever in a dangerous situation and have to make a split decision for yourself or others....what are u gonna think about what the media and your coworkers are gonna say....by then you better hope the reaper doesn't choose you for eternal life you idiot. You must be talking about the mouth as well!!!
THE MOUTH!!!!!!!
-- he doesn't give a f***!
If you use one hand to shoot in situations that warrant it you can definitely cant your weapon to the side. It is any appropriate shooting method.
Not sure why this blog would question the legality of the retired judge releasing information that should be public. Yes, it is incriminating, but that is no reason to hide it or potentially bad behaviour. If you take umbrage with the "stop snitching" code on the streets, then lead by example, start snitching when you see something painfully obvious in your department. Stop throwing stones while living in a glass house.
