Spotlight on the Problem
- When Dani Asmaro was arrested with a gun last month, he was charged with a misdemeanor, posted $150 for bail and was a free man.
Weeks later, he was back in court after the police said they saw him toss another handgun under a car in Rogers Park.
This time, he was charged with a felony, and his bail was steeper — but his cousin posted the $4,000, and he was back on the street.
The 23-year-old from Skokie is one of 12 people, including seven juveniles, who have been charged twice with gun possession so far this year in Chicago.
That's 12 people in 6 months. How many in the four years that Garry has been here? Because it's too many, and eachone is a lost opportunity to (A) prevent another crime, (B) prevent another shooting, and (C) humiliate and reform the system that allows this to happen.
How many years ago was it that judges were sending gun offenders to "boot camp?" Multiple charged gun offenders who were ineligible for alternative sentencing?
Stop picking on the law-abiding by making the law impossible to follow. Hammer the law breakers. This is exactly what Garry should have been doing all along, not showing up in town and making appearances at the St. Sabina minstrel show.

St. Sabina minstrel show......now THAT's funny!
Seems to be lots of guns available in a city without a gun shop
Someone needs to dig deeper and expose how many juvenile offenders were arrested of a uuw and were still out on the streets committing more crimes because judges gave them the ok...which tells me aren't judges just as guilty for not keeping offenders behind bars so they wont commit crimes!!! Making police jobs ten times more difficult trying to keep violent criminals of the streets, its a never ending cycle...
Ask plaxico burress about gun laws in NYC.
All the gun control talk out of the city politicians, lawsuits against suburban gun stores, etc. Yet when we arrest someone in the City with an illegal gun we do virtually nothing. WTF. How about stop bitching about "Americas gun problem" and control the illegal guns in your own city when you get ahold of them.
Very well said! The problem is those who refuse to obey the laws and the lax courts who refuse to punish those who are caught.
Off Topic subject about 012.
Has anyone driven by the 012 District lately?
The weeds are taller now than the few landscaping bushes that were once visible when the building was built. The building looks horrible with all the weeds abound the place.
Hey Commander E. Kulbida(aka Mr. Vegas) get off the poker machine and get the maintenance staff to clean up the place.
Not new. As a young copper about 30 years ago I grabbed a latin king (lower case) with a gun who was about 6 months into a 12 month supervision for UUW. Went to court (then at 11th & State), same judge before whom he had appeared earlier. I thought the judge would hammer him for violating the judges own supervision. Judge gave the excrement another 12 months of supervision. I guess that was pretty harsh, sort of like double secret probation but not quite as harsh as , say, making the POS write "I will not carry a gun" 100 times.
I dont like Gary,But its the Courts that are the problem.
Wow.

The agency proposes using nonwhite populations of 50% or higher as the threshold for classifying segregated areas.
Federally funded cities deemed overly segregated will be pressured to change their zoning laws to allow construction of more subsidized housing in affluent areas in the suburbs, and relocate inner-city minorities to those predominantly white areas. HUD’s maps, which use dots to show the racial distribution or density in residential areas, will be used to select affordable-housing sites.
Fuck Dani, and fuck Garry.
Fund my pension.
The kids coming from the juvenile detention centers are only going to get worse.
Officers in in the state run juvies are only allowed to use handcuffs in certain situations now, and if they do they have to take the kid to medical right away to have the kid's wrists checked and a report needs to be filed.
So, carrying & being caught with an "illegal" handgun is cheaper than obtaining an FOID, applying for a CC license, paying for a training course and purchasing a weapon from a reputable dealer, legally? Where is the deterrent?
anyone notice that the sgt/part owner of cpd test prep study group is now attending bernstein for the lt. test????? spy? or does he realize his group is worthless?
nothing here, move along.....it's a problem in the ghetto neighborhoods...only sometimes it's a problem in the nicer neighborhoods of CHI-RAQ!..... just ask former Alderman Sharon Dixon!
Exactly. That mouth piece of Rahm is noting but a political tool. How many felons are caught with guns and then on the street the next day? Do they care about more laws? Nope, they'll just ignore them too. I've been a gun owner for nearly 30 years. My guns have never shot anyone or been used in a crime. I'm a CCL holder too (not a cop). Stupid me, I lock my gun in the trunk when I go to places that have the GFZ signs. Unfortunately, the places with those signs is where I need my gun the most. Criminals know it's a joke and HOPE that NY Garry gets his wish and gets guns banned. Easy pickings for them then.
This is still Cook County. Where a person can be convicted of armed robbery and they do one year and they are out. Where you can be convicted of doing great bodily harm and be given probation. Because there are too many people of color in jail. The social engineering will never stop.
Spotlight on another problem --
Governors Authorize National Guard to be Armed After Chattanooga Attack
"Full-time military personnel at National Guard facilities in six states could soon be armed after deadly shootings at two Tennessee military facilities raised questions about the vulnerability of the country's troops on home soil.
"The governors of Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Florida and Indiana have authorized the arming of full-time National Guard members to deter attacks and allow them the ability to protect themselves and civilians in case they are targeted.
"The orders made Friday and Saturday were in response to the deadly rampage in Chattanooga, in which Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez allegedly launched an attack against a storefront recruiting center and reserve station and killed four Marines. A Navy sailor injured in the attack died Saturday.
"It is painful enough when we lose members of our armed forces when they are sent in harm's way, but it is unfathomable that they should be vulnerable for attack in our own communities," said Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin."

McCarthy is also going to produce pamphlets of some kind -- "14 Important Points For Young Black Men To Remember When Dealing With The Police." Report says "it will describe how police think."
McCarthy has obviously been poked in the a__ with something sharp as the 2015 Summer Of Love gets rolling. All of a sudden he is on all channels.
On "At Issue" with Craig Dellimore, I believe he put forth that the increasing number of offenders turning when challenged and aiming guns at police -- with the inevitable result -- is due to the fact that gang punishment for losing a strap is worse than anything the legal system can do. Except maybe the legal system kills you right there?
...being reported as I write, another one in 2300 bk. E 23rd St., turned, pointed gun, was shot.
Probably not that many out there are carrying such an "issue weapon;" most probably have their own to love, cherish, and leave laying around until the five-year-old finds it...I write this off merely to increasing general craziness, as with the growing number of incidents in which vehicles are used as weapons against police. Been watching too many rap videos, yo.
One can only -- wistfully? -- hope that this go-hard, save-my-job PR stunt is directed at actual violent street criminals, at least while it lasts. It's always been easier and safer to nail decent people for paperwork violations. You know -- one name, one address, easy to find. Not like "My cousin, he my uncle. He been staying up in my mama's house with my brother but we don't know where he at."
*
Perhaps we should close all gunshops in Cook County. And not allow sales of weapons to city residents since they can't control their anger and aggressive nature.
SCC should publish judge recommendations before elections.
OT but in all the press reporting about Trump and his latest comments, this story came and went to back page in record time. I guess all lives don't matter. At least not to Martin O'Malley.

prisons, and more of them.....longer and stronger sentences, without a doubt.....no chance at rehab....so what......much more expensive to society, but....anyone want to put a price on an innocent life taken by some thug?....rehab my a$$!.....lock the sob's up, along with all of the Jihadists that Barry Hussein seems to love
Here's a wild idea;
How about the Supt and his BigTop Brass band, maybe the Mayor, Aldermen, State Reps & Rev Runs, start showing up in numbers at 26th & Cal and sit it on some criminal cases or pop in a branch court for some gun cases. We know the Media won't go.
The blue shirts have been doing this for a long time, showing up at hearings and trials supporting our own when it matters. It shows we care about our own. It shows we have "skin in the game".
Talk is cheap and that's all we get from the elected and appointed/anointed officials.
Start by doing. Start by going to court, at least on cases that matter. Oh wait, that's would be an election year tactic, right?
And please, don't tell Preckwinkles, as this sort of thing may wind up putting someone in the jail house.
So put up or shut up, because its the democrat judges that make all your commentary worthless.
McCarthy you dumb fuck... arrests don't matter, CONVICTIONS matter... anyone can get arrested on trumped up charges, good luck with the conviction
Amish rake fighting near my pretty loft? NO WAY! Do something Garry.

The pension fund has more problems than funding levels. City Treasurer playing with those funds and risky investments. Very risky investments.
The other giant of a financial debacle waiting to ignite is municipal bonds. Especially bonds from municipal entities that are on shaky financial footing. Chicago's bonds are already at junk status. Chicago makes debt payments only by issuing new debt. If I could find a way to short Chicago Muni paper, I would. Some of the same people who recognized early the sub-prime mortgage catastrophe of 2007-2008 are now saying muni bonds could be next.
This city is sitting on a mountain of debt. If it all implodes forget about pension funding. The danger will be massive financial collapse of entire American cities, counties etc. Chicago and Illinois are well positioned to be in the vanguard of the mess.

Maintenance has nothing to do with it. its a private company, maybe christie webber or something, I dunno, but regardless i'm sure that commander who sits at the throne there is more concerned with contact cards not how
' his district looks " he doesnt give a shit . so quit your yapping and go out and talk to people , get those contact cards!!
Drove east on 103rd St. Didn't see anybody using the bike lanes. The 4th Dis. Weeds were so overgrown it looked like one of those old temples in a Tarzan movie.
If you google his name one of the first things on there is his photobucket account. Tons of pics of him gang banging, bagging up weed, a baby mamma coochie shot, and holding all his money.
Heard they want the Det's to follow up on UUW's again. The last time was a pilot program in the busy districts. ATF was supposed to be involved to try to break up or charge the straw buyers but bailed immediately when they realized they didn't have the time/manpower to come out for the amount of guns brought in. The shit heads won't talk, a complete waste of everybody's time. Glad when it was cancelled.
What, having the Detective involved makes it a stronger case? It is what it is. Typical knee jerk reaction to to a problem that was created by the liberal politicians who don't want the black and brown people locked up.
