This is Ironic

  • Baltimore's mayor fired the city's African American police commissioner on Wednesday and appointed a white interim commissioner for the troubled police department, according to news outlets. Many police officials told Examiner that usually it's a white police chief being replaced with a black one in order to help bring about the facade of positive change.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake blamed the increase in murders -- just weeks after an unarmed black man died of injuries in police custody -- for forcing her to make a change in leadership at the Baltimore Police Department.

Rawlings-Blake, who many in law enforcement accused of being anti-cop and a feckless leader, offered Police Commissioner Anthony Batts her thanks for his time as police chief and even praised his work as top cop in Baltimore. But she claims that there was a growing criticism of his leadership which was distracting the city from moving on past the riots and now the spike in homicide.
Frankly, we're surprised anyone stepped up to the plate, even on a temporary "interim" basis. The political structure has already demonstrated there is no support coming from their quarter, and the rank-and-file have made their priority known.

If the white guy fails, well, he's white....in a black run city, in a black run political system with a black run justice system.

If he succeeds and regains the trust of the Department, thereby staunching the parade of black bodies to the morgue, we can only imagine the howls of outrage from the left.

Wonder why it took so long. This thing happened on April 19th. Maybe they told him to resign and he wouldn't?
Who knows. Anyway, this is just an effort by the Baltimore pols to try and show the public that they're doing something about the violence. All BS. It doesn't matter if Bugs Bunny is Baltimore police chief, they're gonna kill each other anyway.

May those six officers come to own Baltimore and the assets

The police in Baltimore won't be able to do their jobs no matter what color the superintendent is.

The mayor was the one who "gave people space to destroy" and ordered the police to "stand down."

The county prosecutor -- with four whole months on the job, in between stage appearances with Prince and photo shoots for Vogue -- was the one who initiated "depraved heart murder" charges against six coppers for scooping up some head-banging, regular street belligerent.

They are the problem, not the superintendent.

So the mayor gets a kindergarten-endorsed Sensitivity Certificate, and the prosecutor gets a nice little jewel-encrusted hand mirror to further admire herself in from various angles. This way, that way...

You're just not going to get law and order with these two in office.

...and everyone gets a half-burned city with more residents and businesses leaving and more dealers moving in to replace them.

DEA: Prescription drugs stolen in Baltimore flooding the streets

Thu June 25, 2015

"(CNN)The open-air drug markets of Baltimore are flush with new product this summer. The source, at least in part, is more than 30 pharmacies and clinics looted in riots...

"More than 175,000 doses of opiates and other prescription drugs were stolen and are now on the streets...Enough Oxycodone, Suboxone, Morphine, Fentanyl and other drugs to keep the city's drug users high for a year.

"In a city with a large heroin-addicted market, the influx of looted drugs is adding to the problems facing police and city officials already struggling to deal with a sharp rise in shootings and murders. Law enforcement officials believe the new flow of prescription pills will breed new addicts and more violence.

"More vacant homes are appearing, more shops are closing, which means the drug dealers have the corners for themselves...the influx of drugs on the streets is inflaming turf wars...

"That partly, police say, explains the 42 murders in May, Baltimore's deadliest month in 15 years."

Can't point this up enough -- a lot of the "spike in Baltimore homicides" is being caused by drug dealers fighting over new turf.

The mayor's decision to "give people space to destroy" resulted in --

* Massive fires, looting, and destruction that damaged 380 businesses, which is even now causing more residents and businesses to leave, creating the perfect "blank spots" for dealers to operate in

* More than 30 pharmacies and clinics were looted in the riots -- More than 175,000 doses of opiates and other prescription drugs were stolen and are now on the streets. Enough Oxycodone, Suboxone, Morphine, Fentanyl and other drugs to keep the city's drug users high for a year.

This is a critical story to read if you want to understand what the mayor's "stand down" really caused.

I'm sure the mayor has lined up a nice cush spot for the former commissioner somewhere. He'll get two pensions and a very comfortable retirement for his role as political scapegoat and parting gift for playing in the shit show that is baltimore. The new clown they hired must be either short a few chromosomes or never owned a tv to take that job. It would have been impressive to see that no man or woman would accept the vacant position in total protest to the city administration. But then again, there is always another political hack who will step on a thousand necks to climb that ladder. In the end, they have absolutely no one to blame but themselves. They believe and support criminal drug dealing gang bangers and hypes over the good men and women sworn to protect and enforce the law.

Detroit Has Fewest Cops Patrolling Streets In Nearly 100 Years
July 9, 2015 6:59 AM

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) – The Detroit Police Department is suffering from its worst manpower shortage in nearly a century.

There are currently fewer officers patrolling the city than at any time since the 1920s. At one point, the Detroit police force was over 5,000. Today, the force is just 1,590 officers strong — and not all of those are on the street.

The city has lost nearly half its patrol officers since 2000 and ranks have shrunk by 37 percent in the past three years alone, according to the Detroit News. It’s so bad that precincts are reportedly left with only one squad car at times.

“This is a crisis, and the dam is going to break,” Mark Diaz, president of the Detroit Police Officers Association, told the newspaper. “It’s a Catch-22: I know the city is broke, but we’re not going to be able to build up a tax base of residents and businesses until we can provide a safe environment for them.”

It’s important to note that the city’s population has fluctuated greatly over the years. Here’s a breakdown of data segments comparing the number of officers to Detroit residents, according to the report. The city’s current citizen-to-officer ratio is 448 to 1.

1920: 897 officers — population of 993,678
1930: 3,141 officers — population of 1,568,662
1950: 3,548 officers — population of 1,849,568
1970: 3,973 officers — population of 1,511,482
1990: 3,312 officers — population of 1,027,974
2000: 3,139 officers — population of 951,270
2015: 1,590 officers — population of 719,777

.
Budget cuts have hit the department and some have left to work elsewhere.

Citizens wise up as they lose trust and faith in the establishment.

If anything is a vote of no confidence in Garry McCarthy/Rahm Emanuel's and their Broken Windows Crime Fighting BULLSHIT it's the surge in legal gun purchases

Gun Sales Explode In June
Second Amendment more popular than ever!

Background checks for gun sales spiked 11% in June compared to last year, making it the busiest June ever, according to the FBI's background check data.

Last month the FBI conducted nearly 1.53 million background checks, which are required for all in-store purchases, but not for sales at gun shows or between individuals. That's the highest volume of checks in June since 1999, when the FBI started keeping track.

Gun background checks have climbed annually since 2003 with the exception of just three years, one of which was 2014, indicating a clear jump in gun sales.

Michael Bazinet, spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a gun industry group, said the increase is driven in part by the influx of more women and first-time gun owners into the market.

Governments #1 job should be to protect it's own citizens and it's failing miserably.

Instead, the parasitic political leaders are importing poverty resulting in an ever increase in the loss of safety. Who are we kidding?

Then, using statistical bullshit to demand more taxes that they say would go towards things like TSA, more cops, bomb sniffing equipment and random checks of CTA riders. to "make us safe" it's all a sick joke

(ha,how many busts did the random CTA checks do for illegal fireworks over the 4th? How's that ban/war on drugs going? How's that ban on spray paint in the city going? Open your eyes and look around Chicago. )

Never let the crisis that you made go to waste, right?

LMFAO, no. these are tools to extract money from the productive people. How much of these grants end up going to clouted friend/CEO's/corporations or directly into some cronies pocket under the guise of safety?

Several big U.S. cities see homicide rates surge

(surging like the unaccompanied criminal illegal immigrant gang banger population some would say)

After seeing years of decline in violent crime, several major American cities experienced a dramatic surge in homicides during the first half of this year.

Milwaukee, which had one of its lowest annual homicide totals in city history last year, has recorded 80 murders so far this year, more than double the 39 it tallied at the same point last year.

Milwaukee police chief Edward Flynn said the mounting homicide toll in his city of 600,000 is being driven by Wisconsin's "absurdly weak" gun laws (carrying a concealed weapon without a state-issued concealed carry is a misdemeanor in the Badger State), a subculture within the city that affirms the use of deadly violence to achieve status, and growing distrust of police in some parts of the city.

Milwaukee is not alone.

Baltimore, New Orleans and St. Louis have also seen the number of murders jump 33% or more in 2015. Meanwhile, Chicago, the nation's third largest city, has seen the homicide toll climb by 19% and the number of shooting incidents increase in the city by 21% during the first half of the year.

In all the cities, the increased violence is disproportionately impacting poor and predominantly African-American and Latino neighborhoods. In parts of Milwaukee, the sound of gunfire has become so expected that about 80% of gunfire detected by ShotSpotter sensors aren't even called into police by residents, Flynn said.

"We've got folks out there living in neighborhoods, where . . . it's just part of the background noise," Flynn told USA TODAY. "That's what we're up against."

Stop pissing on our heads CPD and calling it rain. Fuck this shit we don't want to live in a police state with more and more cops. STOP IMPORTING THIS SHIT INTO THE COUNTRY for starters! Look at the root causes.

The leaders you serve are creating this crisis and then CPD and other police communities whine on how they need more boots on the streets. Yeah lmao, mayor of Mil. says "absurdly weak" gun laws. Oh don't look over here at the absurdly weak immigration laws destabilizing the communities like the CIA does abroad

Anyone that doesn't see that is blind. Guns don't need more controls. The bad people that are being imported here by Rahm Emanuel and his crew need and using the guns need to be banned. Gun bans are the distraction.

Don't want to lose that immigration unaccompanied illegal immigrant bullshit for if you do you lose the ability to grab more power and taxes. That means you can't hire more close friends to run a new crime fighting imitative like that waste of space "violence interrupters" (did ya see the hollywood movie?) or create a new Hollywood movie comedy about it all called Chiraq.

7/09/2015 08:37:00 AM

If an arrest has to be made, then it needs to be made. Most arrests are based on a signed complaint. That means a person makes a complaint and you the officer determines that a crime did occur based on reasonableness, witness statements, etc. Most officers don't make proactive arrests anymore. Because the chances of you getting in trouble are greater if you go that route. That is the real tragedy not just here in Chicago but nation wide. If you proactively stop people, then more than likely they are up to no good. Plus more than likely they have lengthy criminal histories. Most criminals have no shame, no honor, no integrity and are very unrelentingly vindictive.

My cousin was a police man in a Virgina suburb. He stopped a woman for not having a license. She only had a Mexican consular id card. She yelled and screamed so he made a physical arrest. This woman then made a complaint. She said that the officer exposed his penis at her in the station. The department then put my cousin on desk duty pending an investigation. Then the family made a complaint that he came to their home, brandished a gun and threatened to shoot them and deport the rest to Mexico. He did none of that. This woman and her family are gang members and have extensive arrests history. My cousin was fired from his job. Yes Virginia (no pun intended) most police departments will take the word of a bad guy over the officer. His police department simply didn't want to deal with pending litigation, payouts and further future problems. So they told him to resign or he would be fired. He resigned and is now a police officer in Florida. Plus Virginia is a right to work state. He only answers his calls for service and nothing else. As most officers do in our country. The concept is called "depolicing". The politicians and social engineer have succeeded. While the decent and honest people both citizen and law enforcement suffer.

I remember when Harold Washington's press spokesman was whiter-than-white - the Mayor wouldn't and couldn't have had any other kind. My take is, Baltimore's mayor wanted to draw favor from blacks by showing her concern for black-on-black violence. If the victims of the increasing violence were predominantly white, she would have done nothing. Picking a white police chief serves to cover up her racial motivation, and is good PR considering the critical views of her. For the time being, it will at least not make things worse.

The Police Superintendent (or Commisioner or whatever you call it) in a Democratic city is the biggest political fall-guy job in government. You are roughly the equal of the guy sitting in the chair behind the screen at the dunktank.

You take the blame for the crime which is usually the results for decades of failed social policies. Your command staff is not all of your choosing but loaded with scholarships.

You are called to stem the violence but have dwindling meager manpower resources to deal with it. And it is more important that the officers be sensitive, caring and politically correct rather than effective. As criminals get more brazen and more violent the police are made to be kinder and gentler.

I don't see why anyone would take a big-city top-cop job. Unless for the money and ego-stroking. Is it worth the headache?

Bet a major reason why McCarthy hasn't been replaced is that the City can't find anyone suitable to take his place. Smart enough to get the job, dumb enough to take it.

OT, libtard hosebag "journalist" Carol Marin trying to whip up a looting rioting frenzy with more cop bashing about the "MacDonald shooting last oct., pointing out that once all "facts" are out, there will be nation wide outrage. carol, do you mean your blowing the lid off the fact that "one police officer emptied his service reolver, shooting 16 times", this indicatesative of your facts, you shithead?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
A service revolver with 16 shots??? Now THAT's a weapon. But how big is it? The cylinder must be the size of a grapefruit.

Hmmmm... Carol Marin sounds like a real gun expert. Someone tell her to retire already.

That whole situation is a monster of the mayor and states attorney's own creation.

Dear black community in Gresham. When are you going to call out father faker about his bullshit? He's been at the same church over twenty years and the violence in your community has only gotten worse. He's selling you a bill of goods about stoping the violence. Hey at least the church and grounds are nice. Keep feeding the basket.

Yes, and he got over one million through the " anti-violence" grant under Gov Quinn which is now the subject of a federal grand jury.

Chief's do not run any police departments. They work for the mayor. The mayor is your boss. You don't do what your boss tells you. You are gone just like in any other job. What can you do. You have a job just like anyone else and want to keep it. You don't have a union or anything else to back you. You are forced to do or goodbye.

"Father Asshole does a great impression of a black guy... it quite pathetic, since when is it ok to act another race."

I have never been able to understand how the congregation just goes along with this.

One time all I did was play some Miles loud, and some idiot woman down the hall came out shouting, "He think he black!"

"Human Nature" and "Time After Time" from ca. 1986 Montreaux shows, to be exact.

The elevation of a white man to interim Police Commissioner in Baltimore; did that ever happen on The Wire?

7/09/2015 03:17:00 PM

Yep two white actors played the Police Commish in "The Wire".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Rawls

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stan_Valchek

A black mayor can have a white chief. Now Detroit has a newish Mayor who's white. No way he could hire a white chief.

Chief Commissioner Superintendent whatever you call it there will always be political considerations revolving around race, favors, who's owed what etc.

Only one I can think of where consideration didn't come into play was the unfrozen caveman Superintedent Jody Weis. Daley seemed the department needed shaking up after Abbatte and some of the other shit and he didn't like the inhouse contenders.

Another problem with being a police chief you're always one or two idiots away from being fired. Drunk who got clouted into job attacks bartender and you get forced out. It's always one scandal away that a chief may have nothing to do with. Riots that you didn't cause and you may get fired. Have a mayor stupid enough to invite the NATO and G-8 conferences to your city and if it had gone bad you might get fired.

Now being a mean drunk with a sense of entitlement who fights onduty suburban cops and you might get hired. Who am I thinking of? Hmmmm.

Why do you think Rauner picked Commander Ribbons to be State Police Director? His good looks? Some of the "reverends" liked Schmitz and voila..........State Police get a new director.

FYI All gun purchases from an FFL dealer must have a background check, even if you buy it at a gun show. The company that puts gun shows on in our area requires an FFL transfer and background check for all sales. If you meet a private citizen there and work out a gun deal, you have to pay to process it via an FFL and pass the background check and observe the waiting period.
