"Thousands" Detained

Good lord, it's an outrage!

• At least 3,500 Americans have been detained inside a Chicago police warehouse described by some of its arrestees as a secretive interrogation facility, newly uncovered records reveal.
  
  Of the thousands held in the facility known as Homan Square over a decade, 82% were black. Only three received documented visits from an attorney, according to a cache of documents obtained when the Guardian sued the police.
  
  Despite repeated denials from the Chicago police department that the warehouse is a secretive, off-the-books anomaly, the Homan Square files begin to show how the city’s most vulnerable people get lost in its criminal justice system.

And of the supposed "thousands" held there, most were there for the 90 minutes it took to process their arrest reports and then they were brought to Central Detention, the 011 District or Guantanamo Bay for for "enhanced" interrogation techniques taught to a select group of coppers by a secret order of monks imported from the darkest corners of the ancient Mongolian Empire.

What? ....oh. Ok, we're being told that that last part has been discontinued and wiped from the memory banks and all documentation will be destroyed from this point forward.

The fantasy that this piece is is laughable and the cast of clowns includes such stalwarts as Craig Futterman and Flint Taylor. Lorenzo Davis even makes an appearance, a guy who always seemed to have corruption following in his wake, but no he's feeding the Guardian stories so all must have been forgiven...or buried too deeply.

A few amusing parts:

• Unusually for a police facility, people are taken to Homan Square from every corner of Chicago. Most arrests, however, take place in the predominantly black West Side and South Side. 54% of arrests took place within 2.5 miles of Homan Square.
  
  Um, the "neighborhood" is nearly 100% black and pretty much the biggest open-air drug market in existence - or doesn't anyone there recall the big sweep just last month?
• [two arrestees] were told they were being taken for processing at police headquarters, where they were charged with possession. Neither served time for the misdemeanor.
  
  Really? Because Headquarters doesn't even have a holding room, let alone a lockup or a print machine, and you certainly aren't going to find anyone at Headquarters to write a Court Transmittal or an I-bond. 
• Most of their sources are (A) anonymous and (B) pled guilty to various charges involving drugs and guns. Some of the stories are obviously made up stories based on TV shows and assorted People Law Office conspiracies.

This is a joke of an article meant to inflame the rhetorical war on the police and further a leftist agenda hamstringing any sort of law enforcement action in the communities that need it most.
