- A three-time convicted violent felon who was released from prison on parole this summer is charged with firing a handgun on Clark Street as the Cubs victory celebration wound down last night.
Dolton resident Hoytuan Pierce, 31, is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and with being an armed habitual criminal, according to court records.
Chicago police witnessed the incident outside of Roadhouse 66, 3478 N. Clark, at 11:33PM Tuesday. Pierce and two others were taken into custody and a weapon was recovered, police said.
Pierce is currently on parole after serving part of a one-year sentence for his second DUI. His previous convictions include robbery in 2002, aggravated battery of a government employee in 2005, and being a felon in possession of a firearm in 2012.
Information about the other two individuals taken into custody with Pierce was not immediately available.
Quick! Someone check his FOID card! And get on the horn to revoke that Concealed Carry permit!!!

(a) A person commits the offense of being an armed habitual criminal if he or she receives, sells, possesses, or transfers any firearm after having been convicted a total of 2 or more times of any combination of the following offenses:
(1) a forcible felony as defined in Section 2-8 of this Code;
(2) unlawful use of a weapon by a felon; aggravated unlawful use of a weapon; aggravated discharge of a firearm; vehicular hijacking; aggravated vehicular hijacking; aggravated battery of a child as described in Section 12-4.3 or subdivision (b)(1) of Section 12-3.05; intimidation; aggravated intimidation; gunrunning; home invasion; or aggravated battery with a firearm as described in Section 12-4.2 or subdivision (e)(1), (e)(2), (e)(3), or (e)(4) of Section 12-3.05; or
(3) any violation of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act or the Cannabis Control Act that is punishable as a Class 3 felony or higher.
(b) Sentence. Being an armed habitual criminal is a Class X felony.

As a civilian, I never ask the question "do they have a CCW permit/FOID card?" because if they didn't the media would say it repeatedly. But a 3 time winner getting that little jail time? It makes me wonder what it takes to actually get real jail time in Crook County.
And just wait until 6000 "non-violent" felons are released from the federal system.
We have plenty of laws,,,,the police lock people up under those laws, it's the SAO playing "Let's Make A Deal" and Judges give leinient sentenced (I've seen probation being given for violation of probation) and IDOC playing "Let 'Em Go Mo" releasing people only 60-90 days into a ten year sentence.
Wait a minute I thought it was a joyous celebration with no one arrested.
So how many years would lil' Hoytuan be up for if the feds decided to prosecute him under federal law for all this garfoolenurky? About 250, give or take a decade?

One of my superiors dropped that little tidbit to me the other day while he was griping that the Clerk was out in the 39th and 45th Wards while I was last week and the week before.

On September 11, for example, two asylum seekers from Libya attempted to shoplift items from a Netto-Markt grocery store in Freiberg, a town in the state of Saxony. After the men were caught with the merchandise by a security guard, they became violent and managed to escape.
A short while later, the men returned to the store with a machete and pepper spray, and began threatening the employees. When police arrived at the scene, the men attacked the officers, who fired warning shots into the air. One of the migrants was arrested; the other escaped.
Within hours, the detained man — a 27-year-old being housed at taxpayer expense in a refugee shelter in Freiberg — was released without charge. The next morning, the two men returned to the grocery store, pulled a knife and threatened to behead the employees.
According to local media, public prosecutors instructed police to release the men because they did not use force during the initial act of shoplifting.

I am retired now but this guy Hoytuan Pierce reminds me of a banger from the old Lathrop Homes. If I am correct, he got shot in the gut after shooting another cohort from Lathrop in the middle of Clybourn Ave. That was the only guy I ever met named Hoytuan.
