Hey Garry, Charged Like This?
- Witnesses helped to identify a woman who is accused of firing a gun multiple times in Lincoln Park early Saturday morning, police said.
Around 2:10 a.m., shots were fired near the 2600 block of North Halsted Street, near Wrightwood Avenue, according to witness reports and Chicago Police.
According to Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown blog, which first wrote about the incident, 911 callers said that the fight began at the nearby Wild Hare nightclub.
A video emerged on YouTube Saturday night that shows a group of people arguing and shoving each other. There are about five gunshots over the course of the two minute and 30 second video, in which the group continues to fight on the sidewalk and shout at each other.

We get to see what kind of fight everybody has in them

I've watched this video multiple times(mainly from reposts on social media) trying to figure out.. Anything. We only get (well I assume) the middle or the end of a "fight". I've come to the conclusion, what if it's self defense?
See, I still question it though (I'm not a CCW permit holder) because who I assumed her attacker(s?) were, "retreated", but technically they just sat in the car right in front of her as she continued to shoot. THAT I assume makes that theory null, since they (if there is a "they") pose no threat, I assume. But, once again, we don't see what was happening in that group before the camera starts rolling and she could very well have been the aggressor.
Read on facebook a latino woman was arrested for reckless endangerment for this incident also, but she wasn't the shooter. Don't know how true it is, but I Will be keeping an eye on this nonetheless since I stay a couple blocks away and want to know what comes about of it.

In all the years that I was on the job, every reggae club was nothing but trouble, nothing but fights, guns and stabbings. Just not worth having on in your neighborhood. It seems the women either start the fights or aggravate things and usually escape arrest or prosecution. But, firing a gun in the city limits is just a minor crime and will not result in any jail time. Too bad.

That neighborhood is a lot nicer now, but it is still sad that you cannot look out from the balcony of your $400K condo without the fear of getting shot by a stray early morning bullet. I remember that neighborhood was "the border" of LIncoln Park 25+years ago. Even then Las Fuentas restaurant on Halsted and Wrightwood searched it's late night patrons for weapons.
I loved living in Chicago. I was there for over 25 years. The perpetual corruption got me thinking about moving out. The spike in violent crime convinced me it was time to move. The increase in crime is solved by more police officers, not less. Nothing will change for the better until that happens.
I believe in the saying "The rules that are obeyed are the rules that are enforced." Letting off this "loose cannon" with a misdemeanor charge is a joke.
It would be interesting to see when did anyone call 911? No Police response? No 911 call = No response! Apparently the police didn't find the gun on the suspect. And the suspects "Crew" seems to adhere to the "Snitches get stitches" code of the street.
So, the only evidence is this video.

I don't know the demographics now but don't imagine they have changed much. About twenty years to twenty five ago I was assigned to 019 and worked the beats roughly bordered by Fullerton to Belmont, Clark to Damen. Almost all the citizens toed the liberal line, were proud of voting for any democrat over better qualified republicans. Support for police was lukewarm. Better than the ghetto I worked before but still an underlying contempt as if I were a menial servant and they were my betters.
to bad folks from Edison Park ,Sauganash have to work , otherwise we could shut down LSD , Michigan avenue , disrupt city council meetings about high taxes , lack of police service .

How do you know who he voted for? You seem to make a broad generalization of everything, maybe he is actuality a conservative, and maybe he is independent. We don't know what his views are aside from what he posted.

I was in and out of there also as a Medic same time (1990's), didn't care for the detail, preferred working in the ghetto. Lincoln Park Libs deserve what they vote for! Hated their disdain/indifference for the police and CFD! But they had such a TOLERANCE for the shit that SURROUNDED and ENCROACHED on their neighborhood! Never understood. I've driven through there lately, not much has changed, all they care about is their Latte at Starbucks and, oh, #BlackLivesMatter you know........
