- A new report declares an area of Chicago as “America’s Mass-Shooting Capital” and described it as more dangerous to live in than some of the world’s most murderous countries, according to a new report.
West Garfield Park, which has a population of 18,000, saw 21 murders in 2014, according to The Daily Beast’s report. This makes the area’s homicide rate 116 per 100,000 people.
Honduras -- the country that leads the world in homicides -- has a homicide rate of 90, according to figures from the United Nations.
Of course, you can spin the stats a hundred different ways, but still. West Garfield Park is worse than Honduras? And this year, more people probably moved out, and the homicides are at 38, so the rate is only getting worse.

"A businesswoman was shot dead after a mobile GPS app led her to take a wrong turn into a gang-controlled favela in Rio de Janeiro.
"Regina Murmura, 70, and husband Francisco, 69, had been reportedly attempting to visit a beach in Niteroi, Rio – when they accidentally took a wrong turn into the Carumujo favela on Saturday after using navigation app Waze.
"They were led to the Rua Quintino Bocauiva area of the favela where they were shot at by drug traffickers – with pictures taken in the aftermath of the incident showing the couple’s bullet riddled Citroen.
"Mr Murmura rushed his wife of 50 years to a nearby hospital, but she died soon after arriving at a nearby hospital.

And spinning statistics it is! The population of Hondorus is a little over 8 million. You took the worst pocket in the U.S. and compared it to the whole country of Honduras. There are pockets in Honduras that have a homicide rate many times that of the pocket in cf Chicago that you chose. Using your methodology, my village of 378 people has the highest murder rate in the country. We had one murder, where a guy killed his wife. But, scale that up to a rate per 100.000 people and it blows the roof off of the murder rate.
Also, even in big cities, if the crime stays in its pockets (think cancer) it is not really bad until it metaticizes all,over the place and affects the entire city.

Angelo is costing fop/us about 120K a year less than Dougherty/Shields/Donahue. Dean took a 40K pay cut and the field reps took 30K less than the city-wide guys did. Plus Angelo deducts his disability check from his fop shortened salary.

On Friday about 1400 hrs the Citywide announced a man with a gun at 3510 S. Michigan, CPD HQ, and that he was being pursued in a foot chase. Anyone from HQ or 002 have the story? Too far to have responded but a disregard came soon after the initial call.

I don't know about others, but West has been stand up so far in 011.(there, I probably jinxed it). I haven't heard about any incidents where she jambed up anyone, but I have heard of a few where she was stand up, and did what bosses did in the past, help someone who steps on their dick. Who knows. I think she knows it's a lost cause, but still goes through the motions.

To the guy writing about Dean's salary: I do go to FOP meetings, and Dean never shiwed us how he takes a decreased salary. The changes Dean made to salaries don't begin until next term! Also, I see in the Treasurer bioks that the Field reps don't receive a decrease. In fact, they even cash their "stipend" checks.

Your full of shit. Yes the by-law change does not take effect until the next term starts but they are voluntarily taking the lower salary. The budget still allots for the higher city-wide team salary structure. But present board takes a lower salary.

Old Retired Guy Here Again !!!!!! Today I Rode My Bicycle To The Chicago Marathon. I Took Milwaukee Ave. To DesPlaines,DesPlaines To Harrison, and Harrison to Michigan. Michigan Ave. to the 11th. St. underpass. Got on the Bike Trail. I went to North Island. Rode Around It. I then took the lake front back to Addison St. Went Past Cubs Field. Great Day For a Bike Ride here in Chicago. Loved The Views and All The Energy of The Crowds. Chicago Is My Kind of Town.
