She wouldn't stop using hers, which is why he was called. It wasn't allowed; that was the problem. Well, that and her unruly behavior.
Her attorney said the deputy could just have left her in her seat, so she could continue to learn, which is all she wanted to do. I almost retched when I heard that. Yes, we should let EVERYBODY do whatever the hell they damned well please, because, hey, they'll stop eventually and then everything will be fine. I really do hope that my comment gets approved because I am about to say something that won't be popular here, but black lives matter is not "making things worse" for the black community -- themselves atleast. I am NOT a police officer, nor do I keep up with most "police brutality" incidents that seem to be popping up almost everyday now. But I have no problem with police being held accountable for things that are deemed excessive, even if that means every last questionable situation comes in to question.
Now, It seems police officer are creating this narrative, or allowing the media to create this narrative that they are hated (newsflash guys, police officers haven't been popular for decades. Sorry, but it's the truth). But the truth is People simply want police officers to be held accountable for their excessive actions. Police officers on the other hand have made up their minds that if they can't police without beating someone who has done something to piss them off, or shooting someone who they thought had a gun but had nothing, then they simply aren't going to police. Or atleast that's my take on it, seeing as only a cop who worries about that doesn't want to do his/her job anymore. That thought process from a cop is more dangerous for any community across the country than some social media justice warriors can be.
When I was in Highschool, police officers tased kids. Get violent, get tased. Get violent, get subdued. If You had your cell phone out, you weren't slammed and dragged across a classroom. Let's be rational, she didn't "hit" the officer (if that's what it was) until the officer used unexceptionally excessive force over a cell phone, not the other way around. Charge her with assault on a peace officer if that's the case, but the fact remains the police officer didn't need to do that. I have NEVER seen a chicago police officer handle a cell phone situation in a high school, and I doubt that is how you guys would handle it. You know that and I know that. It was excessive.

I have never been in the military. Instead, I did 21 years here with the CPD. That being said, I know someone here with military background who either came back to this job or came on after serving Uncle Sam will be prone to want to chew me a new asshole because of what I am going to say, but so be it...chew away. How the fuck can anyone serve in the military in this country and A., think they are keeping anyone safe here, B., think they aren't being COMPLETELY punked assfucked by this country's ruling body, C., follow ANYTHING this muslim Manchurian candidate "president" who came from nowhere dictates, and D., doesn't believe that this country will throw them to the dogs IMMEDIATELY if battle lines are drawn on this soil? THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!! Your service was a noble act. But this country will not hesitate to FUCK YOU if they feel the need arise. This country is done. The experiment is a faiure. We lost.

How do members of the military do it? Work for a government run by corrupt politicians and their criminal friends? Have faith that if something happens, our families will be taken care of? Show up to work everyday, knowing that the leaders laugh at the code we live by. Honor, Duty, and Brotherhood. Those are just words to rats like obama, emmanuel, and their friends and supporters We do it the same way we did when Clinton was the president. We suck it up and know that we do it for the people, regardless of what they think of us. We do it knowing (hoping) that eventually this guy will be seen for the fraud he is and the damage he's done to our country can be fixed to a certain degree. I did it in the military the same way I do it here at the city. I have to have some faith that we will get through this. At the same time, I have plans in place for my family in case it gets a lot worse before it gets better. I don't use caps as much as you, but believe me, I feel just a strongly that we are on a dangerous slide into the middle ages with these people running the show.

What the deputy should have done was say this is not a criminal case or a police matter. Let the school handle it and if they want to remove her do it, or let her stay and then suspend or expell her. Doesnt matter to the the police, a school problem. Police chief should remove all po's from the schools and inform the schools, they handle their behavioral problems. Call the police when a criminal act is committed and when you want to sign a complaint. Let them hire private security and if the po's want to work on their day off, thats their problem, buyer beware.
The final reason I voted yes today was because there is no doubt that the men and women of the Chicago Police and Chicago Fire departments are our "Finest" and "Bravest" citizens. Our city could not survive without them. The fact is that as their employer, the City of Chicago made contractual obligations to them with regard to their pensions that must be met, and this budget does that. It is unfortunate that the funding levels were allowed to dip so low and huge lump sum payments need to be made. That is not the fault of our hard working police officers and firefighters who have contributed their share all along, but that was the reality with which the City Council had to deal today

You don't know what it's like to go through your whole career and then right before you retire there's a video of you looking at somebody wrong and now you have to worry about losing your job and your pension. This job has changed even within the past five years. Pensions aren't safe anymore.

Nobody ever lost their job or was even suspended for being videotaped for "looking at somebody wrong". Last I heard the Illinois Supreme Court ruled that our pensions could not be diminished.
OT: If you have less than 10 yrs OTJ and are under 35, get out. Departments across the country are having trouble getting people to test fotr the job. Chitroit is dead end! Your taxes will do nothing but go up. The value of your home will go down. The schools will not improve, and you will never, ever, see a raise above 2-3% a year again.

Couldn't agree more, been through the same times as you were except for the West side riots, (was on vacation in SE Asia)
We survived a lot of tough times and possibly there will be more, but there were many more great times and memories. Remember when we got hour for hour no time and a half for OT, and only comp. time no money. When you took your furlough you were only allowed to have 40 hrs. on the books when you returned to duty. (the rest of the time you earned just vanished. After living these hard times we also formed our union, received a contract, and almost got treated like humans.
Things could be a lot worse. Learn to treat each other with some respect and watch out for each other. Most of today's officers no what I mean. Remember that there are a lot of good people in this city and they deserve the best service you can give then even if after 36 years I was only told thank you less than a dozen times. Quit thinking of this as a job, it's a vocation and only those who do this job really understand that. For those of you who don't get it, try to learn, you might just have a good time after all. Stay safe.
