We recognize it as a sarcastic question - the type that we would usually ask, but didn't get around to following this weekend's mayhem. Someone decided to give an answer that we certainly appreciated, and ought to be the standard response to all of those who don't get the sarcastic bent of this site:
- People like you, Mr Troll, have told us to stand down. You have told us not to stop cars we think are suspicious because they will run and there will be a chase. You have told us not to engage offenders with knives and guns and win. You have told us that any person who abuses drugs and dies at the time we engage is our fault. You have told us not to CRIMINALLY profile. You have told us we are expendable.
You have told us that we will lose our families money. You have told us we will go to jail. You have vilified us. You have protested against us while we try to protect you and your family. You have wished us dead. You have whipped up an anti-police sentiment that has caused the deaths of police officers. You have empowered the criminals in this city.
So let me ask you, you moron: What are YOU going to do?

To all the media trolls and civilians, This is what you wanted. A Police Dept. that's not going to do a damn thing. We have families to take care of and I'm not about to lose the little money I make just to give you someone to burn at the stake when I make a decision to protect myself or my partner. A. Ambulance -- along with 10 or 11 others -- is maybe miles away clearing up a wild-ass stolen car/collision/gun battle thing, under a hail of rocks and bottles from the "community."
B. Police cannot roll tape backwards so the slug jumps back into the gun and the guy's head comes back together, all the empty 40s laying around stand themselves up and refill and the cap goes back on, etc.

I had a couple of calls yesterday. I answered them, ate, then sat in a hole the entire tour and did NOTHING. THAT'S what I'm doing about it.
To bad that on any given day, officers can't stick their heads out of squad car windows ( without fear of getting them blown off or worse ) and call out the number of murders committed every day.

Who knew that "Demolition Man" was as accurate as Biblical prophecy? The only problem is, is that this coty/department won't let the whole go all "John Spartan" like in the movie. Proactive police work is soon to be a thing of the past
15 shot in one day. "What are the police going to do about it?"
#1: Respond to the scene in a safe, responsible manner.
#2: Conduct on-scene investigation.
#3: Meticulously document your acions and findings.
#4: Preserve evidence for recovery.
#5: Notify appropriate follw-up/assist units.
#6: When on-scene investigaion is completed, depart scene and proceed to previously agreed upon lunch location. On arrival order repast.
#7: When food arrives, clear from job, request lunch and enjoy.
As long as any of the 15 (or 50, or 500) are not shot by the police, no big deal. No one cares. You will not be on the news with your life in ruins.
