Contacts Down?

This may or may not be true, but it doesn't sound out of the realm of possibility:
  • Also someone asked about contact cards for first week of 2016 vs. 2015. We are down roughly 9000 or about 80%. 11,000 last year and 2000 this year, give or take.
Someone else commented that this came up at the weekly CompStat Number Fixing meeting.

Here's a question for some enterprising soul - what is the number of intakes at Cook County Jail lately? Up, down or steady? Not only for Chicago, but the surrounding suburbs as well.

The county jail should be a ghost town soon.

2000 this year? That seems high. I haven't really heard of anyone doing them. To do one lawfully and without manufacturing reasonable suspicion just to please the bosses you almost have to witness a crime. The law and general order is very specific and restrictive. You don't want to be the one caught up in some politicians, media outlets or bosses cross hairs looking to further their careers. Question..... How many contact cards were found deficient and sent to the integrity unit so far?

I work at Cook County Jail. Three Years ago we Averaged 250 Inmates new everyday. Last year we Averaged 175 Inmates Everyday. The last 6 Months that amount of Inmates taken in everyday averaged about 60 to 80 inmates a day. We have Closed Div 4. Div 5. Div 2 Dorm 3. And as of Feb 07. 2016 We are Closing Div 1. We have over 3500 Inmates on EM. Tom Dart is all about putting inmates on EM. We have about 275 Inmates that Violated EM and cant be Located.

Gotta be way down for people admitted. I'm sure they are still getting run through to court and processed out on bond, em etc.. I guarantee population in 8 months will be very low.. Low enough that the county has to lay off jail guards, court deputies and states attornies saving the county money.... Hmm, almost seems like a plan...

Contact cards down and crime up. Maybe the ACLU should patrol the streets, since they seem to know how the police should do their job.

Good idea to check the CCDOC inmate population. Then Prickwrinkle & little Dart the Fart can run to the #blm clowns and say that there are less minorities in jail (and more minority victims while the would be inmates are back on the street.)

I am surprised the number of contact cards is only down 80%. Most on our watch are doing everything we can do to avoid a situation where we have to write them for the obvious reasons.

Your question about jail intakes is a good one. I would think most officer initiated arrests are going to go way down and this pertains chiefly to dope and guns. Hopefully someone will chime in here with the jail stats.

Who the hell is still making contacts? At this juncture with just about every cop hater and liberal out there with cameras waiting to bait the police I am surprised at the number of 2000. Seems some people just don't get the hints.

Compstat no but everyone above the rank of capt. showed up last Thursday at 0900 where R&D went over the new Contact Card rules all the exempts were screaming the rules didn't make any sense and how could it be explained to the troops if they could not explain the new procedure to the bosses.

Chicago media ignores obvious job action as Cpd lays down . Shootings up 100% in week 1 but front page of trib is more anti police garbage. Maybe national media will report how fetal policing is working out here. And it's just beginning..wait till these assholes discover they can rob and shoot with impunity downtown as well. "Offender is not on scene squad, m1 who matters headed towards the redline. We need crime lab and a paper car."

And, once Div 1 is closed, they'll claim the "jail is full" and we need to get those numbers down again.

If your writing these your opening yourself and your families for scrutiny! The guy who is looking at these seeking civil rights violations is a retired black judge who has stated openly "I know what civil rights violations are!" this guy will then send them off for federal boys to look into, then of course your called in and you better be sure absolutely everything is correct, if not welcome to federal hell, media darling as your life is destroyed before your eyes, all for writing an idiotic contact card! think men and women is it worth it? "hey boss look all the work I done do I get early duck?" Not worth it! If you do this don't expect money for your fundraiser!

Hell, even 5 years? Too bad this kid along with every new copper on this job can't see how much fun it really was. Oh well, the quality of applicants and PPOs died about 2011 with this fucked up economy. On the application brochure it says "good starting pay"... That never used to be an important deciding factor when thinking about becoming the police. RIP beloved Chicago Police Department, you will be remembered fondly by many.

We need to make traffic court a ghost town. They treat us like garbage not realizing without CPD there would be no need for traffic court. Response post- I know I'm not the only one who is extremely saddened and concerned by this kids thinking. This job used to mean a whole lot to a lot of people. What will it look like in 20 years? Hell, even 5 years? Too bad this kid along with every new copper on this job can't see how much fun it really was. To above poster: um yeah....what else do you want this kid to say or think? Hey I'm going to still run and gun and get into vehicle pursuits because I need to prove to the dept that I'm the police!? Haha puleese man..there's nothing wrong with this kids thinking at all. He/ she is merely reacting to the non support police enviornment we work in today. Who's gonna pay this kids mortgage or bills when they get jammed up by merely performing their simple police duties? You?? Certainly not the CPD. I'm sure it was great being able to chase cars, people, etc and get hands on with the knowledge that there were little consequences and assurance that the dept and its bosses had your back, but that ain't the deal anymore and it hasn't for a long time now. So save us your back in the day stories and this "we don't have qualified recruits anymore non sense". Many of you guys took this job back in the day because IT WAS a good job with bennys. Many old timers had to choose either this or picking up a hammer and nail, and they didn't turn out so bad, they became the police and did their jobs well so save us your rhetoric. Many of these kids do want to be the police and many are sharp and can fight too, theyre just smart enough to read the signals when they hear a supervisor at roll call themselves say that the dept does not have your back.. dont blast these new kids, go blast your upper ranks (former academy mates) for not sticking together when they saw the prevailing winds coming and allowed this to happen.

Well 2000 is not a realistic number, do your math and it probably comes out to about 2-3 ISR reports per watch, and most likely those are due to arrests not the actual stops.

I've been on a little over two years and I've become jaded and no longer do proactive work! I always wanted to be the police but I now see that the criminals and liberals have won.. I agree to certain extent that the new recruits have a lot of issues but I blame the academy and department who have lowered the standards and pass anyone and everyone especially if you're the kid of a copper.

The numbers are accurate, retard. You don't need Compstat. All you need is a computer with CLEAR. You run total ISR for the week and then you go run the old contact card data base for that week last year. I'm guessing you aren't making detective anytime soon.

Don't listen to bosses when they say, "don't worry its the same a cc with a lil addition." or "The entire state does them, its not an attack against cpd." Truth be told CPD ISRs are more specific and a lot longer than suburban ISRs. The ACLU had input on CPDs ISRs because of the political correctness the politicians gave into and fear of the liberal ACLU.
