Fixes? Hahaha
- The fallout over the killing of Laquan McDonald and other police-involved shootings has led to a wave of legislation to overhaul how police interact with the public, including measures that would require all Chicago police officers to wear body cameras and police departments throughout Illinois to rely on nonlethal force when dealing with a suspect.
Oh boy, get ready for a list of dumbass ideas from dumbass legislators:
- Other newly introduced bills would make footage from body cameras more available to the public, attempt to limit encounters with police altogether by allowing officers to give nonviolent offenders notices to appear in court instead of making an arrest and require police to maintain liability insurance.
Great - don't arrest anybody. That's a brilliant fucking idea. And liability insurance? What company is going to offer that? We certainly don't plan on buying any. How about aldercreatures buy "bribe insurance" or the mayor buys "crooked contract insurance to protect taxpayers from the shit they pull?
- Democratic Rep. Marcus Evans of Chicago said he sees a greater problem not in individual officers but in what he described as a culture that has police reaching for firearms too quickly. So he filed a bill that would require police departments throughout the state to develop clear plans for the use of nonlethal force on anyone suspected of a crime or resisting arrest.
Really? According to all the stats we've seen and available, police shootings are down, and down significantly. We're already using non-lethal force when available and de-escalation techniques when appropriate. Firearms are already a last resort and we've had to use them far fewer times than in years past, but because of the artificial outrage ginned up by politicians and media with axes to grind, we're going to see the Law of Unintended Consequences come into play very shortly.
- "I don't think (police departments) have these plans in place, because I think instead there's this idea that shooting somebody is acceptable behavior," Evans said. "I don't think they're saying, 'Hey, make sure you don't kill the person you're detaining.' I think instead it's, 'Hey, protect yourself, make sure you get home.'"
Evans said he hoped that requiring nonlethal force strategies would make police shootings a last resort. He also said police should be exploring alternatives to firearms, like Tasers.
Um, no shit Sherlock. We go home. Period. And firearms already are the last resort - it says so in all the training.
- "Why are we still shooting people with guns? We don't have any way to stop a person who's running away other than discharging a bullet in their back?" Evans said. "It's 2016."
Right, and that's why your community is acting like it's....what year again? Some first century barbarian hordes battling Caesar's legions? Because it certainly isn't 2016.
- Another measure focuses on protecting taxpayers should a police officer be found guilty of wrongdoing.
Rep. Ken Dunkin, D-Chicago, wants officers to be required to carry liability insurance to help pay for costs of any possible legal action. The idea comes as the city has paid $42.5 million in judgments and settlements over police shootings from May 2011 through October.
The bill also would require law enforcement officers to undergo psychiatric evaluation before they are hired and every five years after that. Currently there are no state standards for psychiatric evaluations; it's left up to local agencies.
We'd like to see State legislators submit to competency hearings, knowledge of the laws they read and pass, that thingie called "due process" along with a wide assortment of sanity hearings. Especially when a sizable percentage of those payouts are actually "payoffs" to go away instead of fighting completely winnable cases.
Whatever. We're ranting. Just be prepared for a lot of stupidity from people who don't want to address the real problem.

Start fighting the lawsuits instead of settling. When Weis was Sup. he outsourced the lawsuits to firms and we won most of them because most of them are bullshit. The BS lawsuits dropped by 47%.
"...Law of Unintended Consequences..."
No. When ACLU gleefully says that "they're glad street stops will be down" following the introduction of their new ISRs, they know EXACTLY what that will entail for people in the neighborhoods they don't live in.
"Democratic Rep. Marcus Evans of Chicago said he sees a greater problem not in individual officers but in what he described as a culture that has police reaching for firearms too quickly."
So tell the crew to put their guns and knives and bats down and let's see what transpires.
Worthwhile social experiment.
No. No way in hell. Not even for one day a year, huh?
Didn't think so.
Well now Karen Lewis you anti-police racist looks like Bruce is going to get rid of your Union and let cps go bankrupt great job rahm and the 50 cowards!
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-illinois-republicans-cps-bankruptcy-met-20160119-story.html
Fatal police-involved shootings totalled what? 8 last year?
In a city the size of Chicago? That seems pretty darn low all things considered.
And that is down from something like 54 in 2011 if I recall correctly. That is incredible.
I'm fully indemnified.
Uh, don't bother asking me how, though.
Chalkie
Didn't Senator Raoul and his ilk do enough to "help" when mandating the new ISR's?
The amount of time and manpower being taken off the street while filling out this paperwork the geniuses down in Springfield came up with is staggering. Absolutely staggering.
Marcus, please tell me who is killing and who is being killed. Oh its your community, the one you represent. Exactly what have you done to rectify this problem, nothing but blame it on the police. Well I can give you a place to start. Introduce legislation if you are caught committing a violent crime with a firearm it automatically carries a 20 year sentence, of which the offender has to do a minimum of 85% of the sentence, including juveniles, not just juveniles charged as adults. That would be a start and you could be the new savior of your people.
The bottom line, lawmakers want a kinder gentler police force, not the cops shooting and killing voters.
Its absolutely astonishing that these people are holding any kind of office that has anything to do with taxpayer money. How about the city stop paying out and going to court on some of these cases. Well maybe because someone is getting a little something from the attorneys who are gettingbthese massive payouts ? This place is a joke.
Today, while I was being fetal, I stopped at the 7-11 for a frosty, carbonated, sugery beverage. While I was there, I thumbed though a copy of the Sun-Times. There was an article in there about one of these moronic alderfucktards who proposed a few things, including tasers for "all 12,500 officers" (yeah, right), and raising the retirement age to 67.5, from 63. He said the city could pay for the tasers by using the money used for police overtime (the article did not specifically say anything about VRI). This fucking genius also suggests raising the retirement age from 63 to 67.5, thereby saving money because people would have to wait longer to collect (and not get as much out of it, but the article didn't say that). It said it could start immediately with the exempts and then be negotiated with the p.o.'s. I'm almost positive it was Ervin that was floating this idea. If it's not, I apologize, but I think he said something to the effect of all the retirements of the higher-ups has left a void of experienced leaders, and this would keep them around longer. Fucking idiot. Ol Dean-o actually made a comment on it, saying "that's just what you want on a domestic, a 67 yr old responding". Apparently Ervin doesn't get it about 29 and a day either. Anyways, I didn't see it on the Sun-Times website, but it was in the 1-19-16 edition. I'm sure someone with a little free time could find it.
Don't forget drug and alcohol testing for the politicians too.
100% testing the first week of the session and random testing of 5% per week thereafter.
If the session goes into extra sessions, increase it to 10% per week.
If it saves just one life!
Everyone knows what the real problem is they are just afraid to say it because then they will be labeled a racist. So lets just blame the police for everything. Let the shooting /killings continue who gives a fuck. This city is doomed. Soon to retire thank god. Stay fetal fuck these mutts.
After reading this nonsense I almost pissed myself laughing at how obsurd these ideas are. Then , after digesting this bullshit I started to say , why would any copper give a fuck about anything after reading this ? If you are still playing police you are a playing with fire , because these fucking asshole politicians will lock you up and take everything you have worked for. They are telling you that NO ONE wants the police to be the police. So, give these fuckers what they want. Let this fucking city implode with violence. Let the tourism go to shit. Who gives a fuck. Obviously the politicians don't.
It sounds like a lot of good ideas, I'm in my last year. I hope these reps will don't have any children because there highly likely to victims of some type of crime. This will be a city of Victims. I'm glad things worked out for me and my family to get before the bottom falls out.
Psych evals and background checks every five years?
Sounds like they cribbed the ideas from the Nuclear Industry for their people.
Do you have any buddies in Springfield that could add a line requiring the same testing for the legislators and their staff?
It would never pass, but if it gets in the bill, they'd have to amend it to eliminate it.
A little news story and BINGO!
Shouldn't legislators be clean and sober?
Just wait until they decide seven rounds in a magazine are enough for the Police.
After all, you should never need a firearm anyway!
Think of how stupid and limited in intelligence these politicians are. Now think of how much dumber those who voted for them are. Scary, huh?
Be careful. DOJ is scrutinizing Search Warrants with fine tooth comb starting from how intel was aquired to the Search Warrant itself. It's time to do NOTHING. It's not worth your job or freedom. Please be smart. This is from a good reliable source.
Yes we can purchase Daley Insurance... It would also make sense for the city to stop paying criminal entities.. Gangbangers...aldecreatures...Daley...rahmster.Chicago Teachers Union aka BLM...
What's the plan for VRI? Will manpower increase in March? Crime is up so how is VRI down
Pandering for votes. It's so much easier than working hard for your community to deserve re-election.
Periodic psychiatric evaluations will do one thing for sure ; finally bring to public light and department recognition that amount of post traumatic stress disorder that goes on with cops. This will cause many cops to be put on the medical, many to go for early retirement or disability. The doctors will have no choice, ethically and professionally, but to recognize this problem and force officers off of the job.
A psych eval every 5 years?
Interesting.
You pass one to get on the job. OK
But what happens if 5, 10 or 15 years into your career you don'?
Sounds like "DISABILITY PENSION TIME"
Because obviously the job made you crazy.
The war on police continues with these idiots in charge of government! They make laws and expect police to enforce said laws and when BLM terror group don't like results then the idiot politicians bring up more stupid ideas! Just stay fetal Officers and let their blood run in the streets!
If you're still doing any proactive police work at this point, you need a psychiatric evaluation or a competence hearing because you're either nuts or just plain stupid. To all you citizens out there, I suggest you arm yourselves ASAP because shit is about to start getting really bad out there. To anyone thinking about signing up for this job, you really might want to seriously reconsider. Lastly, anyone eligible to retire should do so immediately and work a different job if the thought of not working and enjoying your life terrifies you for some odd reason. Policing is a dead end profession.
Just play armed insurance adjuster. Make that report so they can go on their way.
Ken Dunkin is a msssive, wet, steaming turd of a human. Dealt with him in a previous life as a civilian through my employer, and he was one of the most insincere and arrogant people I've encountered.
I am sooooooooooo glad I'm retired.....
Thank Goodness the FBI is riding to the rescue. Way back in the '70's we had a pursuit driving course, by CCSP and the Bureau. Was fun, got to run around a race track in old hemi's, SS Chevies, all confiscated of course. An old Feeb taught us some sneaky tricks the bad guys used, and taught CAUTION on street stops.
About the same time, FBI Stories was a big deal on TV. Inspector Erskine was the Man. Got into a shooting every week. He never killed anyone, shoulder shots, and as I recall more than one gun shot out of the miscreant's hand. Maybe the new breed of Feebies could teach our guys how to shoot the guns out of thugs mitts?
To the officers in patrol. Think about what you need to do in order to not end up a news headline, not get sued or end up in federal court or prison. The answer is simple. Do not be a proactive police officer. If your Sergeant orders you to arrest someone, make sure your first line of the narrative reflects that and list his name and star number. If you are a go getter and make street stops then eventually you will be on your own.
I grew up in the sixties. The Civil Rights movement of Dr. King was noble, warranted, admirable. It was justified. And it mattered. But this shit here we got today...tell me ONE thing that a black man or woman can't do. ONE place they can't go. There is not a law in the land that discriminates against anyone. And yet, we have people rioting in the street over criminals who don't go to school, don't work, cause nothing but trouble for everyone, have no respect for nothing, and when they come into contact with the police, which their behavior is going to result in, they act like a fucking fool. The shit these idiots are marching against today is bias. And you cannot legislate bias. Because bias is based on how you conduct yourself. If you're a shady motherfucker, well you know. As for people not LIKING you because you're black, female, Puerto Rican, fat, ugly, rich, poor, stupid, well if you can't handle that people, walk over to the corner of the playground and stay there because you ain't ready for life. And life ain't never gonna change.
How about incorporating some aspects of sharia law from our Muslim Brothers, get caught with an illegal gun and convicted with a felony gun crime, lop off your hand. I bet that would help slow down the shootings.
What about the proposal to have officers licensed? Do we have to display the licence in our squad car window? What a joke.
How about giant silly string guns, or blank rounds that would scare them into submission.
In the words of Harry Callahan, "What do you want us to do, yell trick or treat at them".
Hey Evans, when has a department member shot someone in the back from a non lethal crime or incident that they initiated. People shoot and run away. They don't usually shoot and run backwards. The whole concept to injure, strike, mame, kill, blind, wound and or paralyze the officer so that he/she can get away and not be identified or caught.
People who have a gun or act as if they have a gun do it f o r a reason. Replicas have become so real looking. It's not the plastic cowboy pistol with a red tip and a blocked barrel of yesteryear that came and with plastic bullets that could never be put into the toy.
These replicas have armorers fooled. Yes!the appear to be real, yes! the semiautomatic versions have removable magazines and slides that actually are functional and move. Yes! some are spring loaded and gas (CO2) powered and yes! some of these overly realistic "so called replicas/ starter) pistols" are capable of firing live ammunition.
As a "so called community leader" why don't you lead the community in education, respect, morals and yes responsibility. Responsibility of parents to educate their children, grandchildren, nephews, neices, cousins, neighbors and so on. This leading doesn't need a monetary program it needs a commitment. No extra state or federal funds just take a walk in the community you lead and mentor someone as a part of the community. I'll bet you don't do it unless a news crew can put it on at six and ten.
So yeah I'm going home. I can't tell these replicas from the real thing and neither can you. I have seen people pull their cell phones, wallets, pda, dark colored beer can, anything that can be fashioned as if they have a gun in their hands and point them like they have a gun and are ready to shoot you.
You sure do talk a lot of carp from behind a podium. Try being part of the solution with a stand up campaign instead of a handout one.

The elephant in the room is growing larger daily.
5.16 to 6.24 of this piece sums it up perfectly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0uT3QKQ88g
Staying fetal. Permanently.
So now we're assholes because we want to go home from work alive?
If you don't commit illegal acts you will not have encounters with the police--let alone lethal encounters.
You know, there really is no difference between a thug and a politician.
Don't worry, Dunkin will be out of town when his bill comes up for a vote like he was over the summer when other big bills came up.
Will any politician ever speak to the REAL PROBLEM ? Killary while debating the other night stated, that basically because of LEO one in three blacks will go to prison!!!! Fuck Them
Stay Fetal.Safe,and in the Squad.....
Just think....these are the people charged with making decisions that should benefit the City/State etc. Im all for new , outside the box ideas but bloody fucking hell, this borders on lunacy. Don't these people have paid staff members that should be telling them that this shit sounds stupid??? WTH!?!?!? Sad, very sad.
a lot of places the citizens as a whole have started to lose faith. police behaviour is mostly to blame for this. it won't be reversed without police departments changing the way they do things.
when cops changed mostly from enforcing the peace to revenue sources was the first big blow. very few people see a cop anymore and think they are safer. mostly they wonder what trivial offense they might have inadvertently committed that will result in them being hassled and fined.
the lack of a complaint mechanism that allows for a fair and open investigation of alleged police misconduct does not help. no one seriously believes that an entity investigating itself does so without a preconceived outcome being desirable by that entity.
I don't know if cameras will help that or not. the places where it has been tried have often experienced dramatic reductions in the complaint rates. the reasons are not clear. maybe because there is an objective and independent record of what really went on there are fewer spurious complaints. maybe because of that record there are fewer reasons to complain as police behave better. probably both.
Urban areas have a tough time changing police tactics because of the large organizations involved that have substantial institutional inertia, and the natural desire to not want to admit anything was ever done wrong, which is a pretty universal human trait.
I do not have the answer, but I am also sure that the continued application of brute (and especially deadly) force when it can be avoided is going to make it worse. What is legal is not necessarily what is right.
NAC
If Laquon McDonald had been threatening some civilian with a knife in his his own neighborhood, they would have shot him. It would have been ruled self defense and the incident would have been cleared immediately . There would have been no lawsuit and Laquon would have been buried in a pauper's grave when nobody claimed his body. We're not supposed to protect ourselves though. We have no reasonable expectation to stay alive.
What members really need to watch is the unions, mainly the Sergeant's and Lieutenant's unions. Their contracts are up this year and they have a habit of giving up stuff before the entire membership gets to vote. The wellness plan is a perfect example of something they gave the mayor behind the memberships back. Recently they allowed the city to force Sergeant's and Lieutenant's to go to training on our days off and not to be paid with time, in violation of our contract. They should have at least allowed members the option to go during their tour of duty instead of their days off or allowed members to pick a day and time instead of having it forced down their throat. Some of us do have a life. These contracts are going to set the agenda for the FOP contract.
FBI reports today homicide and violent crime up. Stay safe and FETAL!
Lord when did scum become such a valuable commodity in Chicago?
I hope the politicians break their neck looking around the elephant in the room, discussing laws to "fix" the police!
They must think everyone is as stupid as they are!

If I'm sane when I came on the job then found to be suffering mental health issues at the 5 or 10 year mark it can only be as a result of PTSD brought on by seeing what we see everyday. In that case I'm covered by the ADA and will be IOD and take my 75% disability with free insurance for the rest of my days.
It's simple: Don't act like an animal and you won't get hurt.
I'm pretty sure you can type "bastard children" on your own blog.
Here is a reasonable law that should be on the books state wide.
Any person who is a convicted felon shall be prohibited form holding any elected state, county, municipal or other elected office.
Thus, rep lashawn ford would have to go back to robberies.

As soon as gangbangers start using "non lethal" force, maybe I will think about it......
Fix the police. No, I don't think that's the problem at all. The way I see it, any time a so called parent has to call the police because they can't get their child to go to school, or because their 8 year old just hit them,( that would be the day)
is where the trouble begins. Don't give me the song and dance, that you're poor, don't know where the father is, and all of your other complaints. Your kids stop getting shot with you. For the first time in your lives, act like a real grown up, take the responsibility of raising your children,(sober) and maybe we won't see these kids in their "cap and gowns" on the news because they ( the honor students that they were )
just did something incredibly stupid and ended up getting shot by the police.
I've actually lost track of the number of politicians and the number of ways in which this Department has been thrown under the bus.
Here's an idea, if we're called to a scene everything is recorded and can be accessed immediately, if we initiate a stop its only recorded after we give a warning then it's recorded, it could be a tv channel, paid for commercials
$42 million in settlements!! Wow. I just read an article about the city settling a fire dept law suit for $68 million. What about the millions lost in suits against the city in discrimination settlements, hiring settlements, promotion settlements, testing settlements and on and on and on. I say make the mayor and alderman pay those settlements out of their pockets. In the scheme of things police lawsuits are chump change when compared to the city's liability in soooo many instances.
I want all of these bills to pass. Chicago will look like a Charles Bronson movie and only then will people come to their senses. Nobody wants the warrior until the enemies are at the gate.
Will these law makers be around to claim responsibility for the huge increase in homicides?

Hello. I'm not a police officer. Thanks to all of you for protecting us. I'm noticing a pattern with all these police shootings that the mainstream media does not seem to include in their coverage. The mainstream media makes it seem like these people are going about their normal lives when the police stop them, an argument ensues, and the African-Americans get shot. Why don't they mention that the person shot just committed a CARJACKING, ASSAULT, or some other violent crime? Doesn't that community want to be protected from carjackers, drugged out people armed with a knife, and other violent criminals? I would be treating the police like heroes if they shot a carjacker in my neighborhood. I don't understand how an entire community could be so upset when the police just made their neighborhood safer. Don't they understand if the carjacker got away, they aren't going to give up their current lifestyle and become schoolteachers. They could have panicked while evading police, broke into a house to hide and hurt the people living there. Or a hundred other scary possibilities. I read that criminals carjack because vehicles are extremely difficult to Hotwire nowadays. And they need those stolen vehicles to do drive-by shootings, robberies, or some other violent crime where they need a getaway car. I'm starting to think that some African-Americans don't want to become part of Mainstream American culture, it seems like they want to continue living THEIR way, but want money to do it. Well, thank you all for doing your jobs. If it helps, many of the people I've talked to recently about this subject are beginning to see the truth about inner-city culture. Come patrol my neighborhood where you would be appreciated!!
Off topic:
No More "VRI Quotas"
It turns out someone on the Chicago Police Department realized that requiring a certain amount of arrests, tickets, contact cards (Now ISRs) are a QUOTA.
YES!! Illegal by federal law.
Since the Feds have come to town, someone's balls shrunk up in them and they have been dropped.
You can now sign up for VRI regardless of activity.
This police shit is done, get a job in computers or finance
These legislators have truly gone off the deep end. Is there anyone, ANYONE, informing these idiots about our existing policies and training, and how it relates to existing state law? They need to get educated.
As to the payouts, well, QUIT PAYING OUT!!!
Oh, I forgot, not an option. Connected lawyer takes on anti-police case, greases the right people to get it through and settled, next thing you know it doesn't even go to trial, it gets approved in City Council and then the lawyer's cut of the settlement gets cut up between the firm, aldermen, maybe even the judge... all a funny joke on the tax payer.
These payouts are for what had been ruled justified police uses of force. Hello, Dept. Of Justice? Care to follow the money on all these payouts for police shootings?
Evans said. "I don't think they're saying, 'Hey, make sure you don't kill the person you're detaining.' I think instead it's, 'Hey, protect yourself, make sure you get home.'"
soooooo........ This elected official DOESN'T want us to go home safely? Does he hold biases against the police?

The police malpractice ins is just another anti-police leftist scam:
Minneapolis – In almost every city across the US, tax dollars are used to cover the damages and settlements from lawsuits filed against their police departments due to officer misconduct. Taxpayers in essence pay out massive amounts in damages for officers not doing their job properly. Additionally, the cost is compounded because taxpayers are forced to continue paying the salaries of these criminal cops.
City officials don’t have the guts to hold officers accountable for their actions. So a new approach is necessary to hold rogue officers responsible for their conduct.
Just like doctors have to carry malpractice insurance, police officers should be required to carry professional liability insurance as a condition of employment.
Read more at http://thefreethoughtproject.com/force-police-accountability-city/#O4DuQ5z3BRP8gFAL.99
All these clueless wonders throwing in their two cents.
How come nobody with common sense slaps them down? Are they afraid of offending "the community"?
more leftist crap:
https://www.popularresistance.org/should-police-be-required-to-have-liability-insurance/
Suppose that we could devise a system to relieve the financial burden on the taxpaying public? Suppose, in other words, police departments were required to have liability insurance policies, so if they were sued by injured civilians there would be money available from a source other than taxpayers? One would think that political conservatives would welcome that result because it would lower the tax burden. But who should be paying for the insurance policy?
The idea being advanced here is that such policies should be required, and individual policemen should have a deduction from their salaries to pay for the policies. This would provide financial protection for the policemen (they would all be insured) in the event they did something foolish, but it would also protect the taxpayers and provide an independent fund for the victims. For instance, the policies could provide for up to several million dollars towards the death or injury of a civilian victim. It might be recalled that local governments (e.g., Detroit) can go bankrupt, so the policies would provides assurance of compensation where needed.
WAIT till Gov Rauner privatizes the Police Department, glory times for the republicans, privatize everything, then Robocop will come on the scene and replace all of the cops then or maybe ED 209.
I'm glad that I am retired........ I feel sorry for the current P.O.'s.

THE SOLUTION
A coalition formed in Minneapolis has a new approach to reducing police misconduct. The Committee for Professional Policing (CFPP) has a fair and common sense proposal to greatly reduce police brutality by requiring that all police officers carry professional liability insurance. This guarantees that the decisions made about an officer will be about risk management, simply about whether an officer is going to be too costly on the street. More details.
THE DETAILS
The baseline insurance could be paid for by the city. Officers who act outside the Code of Conduct would have a premium to pay, just as a driver who has many accidents will pay an increased premium. Police officers will join other professionals who have personal liability insurance; doctors, lawyers, nurses, social workers, engineers and others. The City of Minneapolis will still be responsible for badly written policy, failure to train and/or failure to properly supervise.
I read about Chicago's butt stupid politicians pontificating and I think back to Lt General Russel L. Honore known as "The Ragin Cajun". He was in command of "Task Force Katrina". In a famous news conference (September 20, 2005). The General warned reporters "not to get stuck on stupid". When a reported asked a stupid question that was his answer, "You are stuck on stupid". Chicago has a bunch of whazoo's stuck on stupid and the MSM will not call them out on it.
The content in this post is about the most asinine shit I've read on this blog.
Use tasers? Then they will be hollering about that. I guess a pat on the head will do.
Liability insurance? Are you fucking kidding me? Those payouts likely are a drop in the bucket compared to how much the city has lost under Shortshanks and Swan Lake. Get real.
Easy to rant in front of a laptop, but I would love to see the day when the cops strike for 1-2 days and back Rahm into a corner that he will have no idea how to escape from.
But four underage youths not cooperating with police is ok, I assume.
This city (I mean taxpayers) are so fucked.

They want no brown people in jail and more entitled freedoms than the rest of the criminal element.
They support and honor repeat thug assailants and set their agendas based on criminal activity that was met by police interaction.

If they don't score at least a 90 -- the bottom number for 'average intelligence' (110 is the highest for 'average' category) -- then sorry, you cannot be in office -- period. Annnnnd a 'basic' 12th grade Literacy Test also needs to be taken and passed before being allowed to run for office.
(And NO, a HS diploma or enrollment in college is NOT an equivalent. High Schools 'graduate' functional illiterates now as SOP))
Seriously, why should People (and/or Folk) who are not 'normal', i.e.; Mentally Challenged, be allowed to write and/vote on Laws that effect every citizen. To do so is not logical. The same applies if a person cannot read a proposed Bill and grasp its real meaning. Or know that saying 'Black Hole' refers to astronomy, that it's not an insult to Black women (as some black politicians in Texas though (google it))
Yeah, I know. This would bar every Chicago & Cook County democrat from holding office but that's life. And Life is hard, but it's even harder if you're stupid.
Federal law prohibits law enforment from having private insurance for punitive damages. Otherwise everyone that came in contact with the police in any way, would sue. The aldermen should learn the law before they open their ignorant mouths. Liability insurance by law, is to be provided by the agenency the officer works for.
WOw! Great ideas morons! Is this to work for uber? Or to be assistant to state elected criminals? Stock markets diving, crime through the roof, economy (thanks obama) a disaster and this is what they propose? Nothing like an all out war on people that are the thin blue line between innocents and total anarchy! If the thin blue line goes more "fetal" the mayhem would be unleashed maybe even at these elected official;s doorsteps (sort of like rahms son incident that was covered up and buffed clean).
But yet you still have officers with insane ideas chasing the morons and thugs for what? To get gigged at court? To subject yourself and your family to media circus ridicule? the old adage "see you at YOUR fundraiser" should never apply if your protecting each other, police families the thugs let the laws of the jungle apply, they don't want police give them what they want. Alderman/reverends on patrol, could be like "cops" let cameras follow them around (Of course camera crew would be in armored camera truck), watch how great they protect their flock and constituents!
Pay is double to do this difficult job
For years Ive implemented my own no chase policy,No car chase no foot chase.
No Arrest is the best way to screw Lawyer's,No Defendant no money.
Off Topic:
Seems like the shitheads are migrating North! Rockford, the ugly little deformed brother of Chicago, has had 16 armed robberies since Sunday. A 79 year old man taking his garbage out, a woman warming up her car, etc. etc. all in (what used to be) decently safe neighborhoods. But police keep telling us crime is down here, too!
I cant help but hope these guys try to rob the wrong victim very soon....

Agreed they are telling you stay fetal, if your a hard charging idiot and you get jammed up, it is on you they are warning us to stop being "the police" you still get paid, less stress winning correct?
Glad to see Chalkie is out of hibernation and back to business.
Chicago must have a Black Mayor and Black Police Honcho. Only than will there be racial justice and harmony.
How about instead of paying out Millions of dollars to shitheads ( and their families), you pass a fucking LAW that would limit the amount someone gets paid depending on what kind of life they lived and especially what kind of future they would've had!
Limit the ghetto lottery because the more you pay out, the more these assholes and their families will sue!
"Democratic Rep. Marcus Evans of Chicago said he sees a greater problem not in individual officers but in what he described as a culture that has police reaching for firearms too quickly."
Yeah, coppers see someone aiming a gun at them, or about to knock their head out of the park with a Louisville Slugger, and right away they go jumping to conclusions.
"Hello. I'm not a police officer. Thanks to all of you for protecting us."

No, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! Thank you for realizing the dangers, split second decisions, how violent offenders can be and for voicing your support. If the majority thought like you I would continue to be a worker. I'd feel comfortable risking my life to stop aggressive and violent offenders with the old feeling of pride knowing I put a dangerous person behind bars. However, life is not so these days. I am truly sorry to say that I speak for all smart cops when I say I have to slow it down and think before doing anything. I'm truly sorry for this but at the same time truly appreciative for people like you. I wish you nothing but the best.
New ideas to be released next week.
1. If you are in a police chase and you get to your house before you are caught that will be considered "gool" and you can't be arrested.
2. If you have been apprehended and another one of your gang buddies tags you without getting caught you must be released.
And finally
3. If you are hiding from the police after you just robbed a store or shot up other gang bangers and come out with your hand up and yell "Olly olly oxen free" you collect $200.00 you get to go home.
These idiots think it is all a game.
Its simple no one cares what the police do as far as good work and it shows get that through your thick skulls all those idiots still fighting crime in a place where nobody wants you too!!!!
It seems, and correct me if I'm wrong, it's (mostly) the black legislators that have all the answers and none have addressed the black criminals actions that lead to an encounter with law enforcement.
They want no brown people in jail and more entitled freedoms than the rest of the criminal element.
They support and honor repeat thug assailants and set their agendas based on criminal activity that was met by police interaction.
Just look at who elected these morons, no wonder their neighborhoods are a mess, and they will continue to decline.
Every community organizer wants to be president now.

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what is going on in our country but the main issues here are really being ignored. I'm not sure why everyone is ignoring it and I'm not sure what the end game is in this. I'm really confused by what's going in our nation so much I'm overwhelmed with the confusion and it's really starting to cloud my every day judgement. How can everyone be blaming something that's not the cause of the issue?
"The bill also would require law enforcement officers to undergo psychiatric evaluation before they are hired and every five years after that."
This will dovetail nicely with the Obama executive orders that tear down the firewall of HIPAA "protection" for mental health records in order to create a new class of "prohibited persons." Hell, as it is now, they don't have to show you your own psychiatric records. Who knows what the "tripwire" will be here? Any snip of a "clinical social worker" will be able to issue forth with a "diagnosis" after a 30-minute interview, and that will, quite possibly, be that.
How about the Alermans go out more often into their neighborhoods and stop hiding out in city hall!!! Maybe they need to get re-aquainted with these neighborhoods that are plagued with violence and just stop sitting quietly blaming the police.
I here the commander of the 12th District is punishing his troops for not making stops on idiots. I think its time that the news papers and the Mayor look at him for stealing money. Look at his CRs, he should of never made commander.
what will happen when all the blacks fail a legitimate psychological exam given by qualify doctors not controlled by the city. Just like the written test given by legitimate outsiders Law suits will follow and the city will lose billions. These doctors don't understand black folks and are racist how can the say i am paranoid when i play the race card. help us jessie rev.al
OT Just a reminder to be careful as to what is said in squad cars. BGA investigation has a phone conversation of an officer calling a Sgt. to ask a question. And of course it doesn't look good for the officer.
No word on training or reforming these "communities" regarding their interactions with law enforcement.
Nobody wants to talk about that very important element in all of this.
It's just easier to keep blaming and attacking the police.
The police shoot more whites than they do blacks in this country, but the media only runs with the story when its a black person getting shot by a white cop. The media controls the feeble american mindset. Its perfect for the media. Most people never encounter the police so they see what the media puts out there which is a total hatchet job against the cops and people believe it because they have no or very little first hand experience with the police. The media lost credibility with me a very long time ago. I can't even stand next to a newspaper stand at 7-11. What americans don't realize now is that most cops are good and necessary. Americans will soon realize this after the american criminal takes over the streets and runs roughshod without fear of law enforcement and makes people afraid to go outside. By the time people start demanding cops take back the streets it will be too late. The good ones who the media are now demonizing will be gone and you'll be left with a police dept full of gang bangers because they'll have to drop the requirements to become a cop because not many people are applying for the job anymore. That's when you'll really have to worry about the cops.
Well now Karen Lewis you anti-police racist looks like Bruce is going to get rid of your Union and let cps go bankrupt great job rahm and the 50 cowards!
Rahm just dumped $400 million into cps pension fund. That was one of the promises he made Karen Lewis. The other promise being that the next superintendent will be black. Look for the media to back off Rahm and play nice and help him get reelected after all the promises come to their fruition.
Just watched Mad Max: Fury Road will sitting in my squad, these mission boxes are the best. I can say I will never talk to, put hands on or even look at a person again. This job is just that much easier now. Respond to job, cut paper for an hour or 19P forty five minutes later. This is the best thing to happen to a DOG like myself. If you are out here working in this day and age you need your head checked and a nice civil lawsuit to take that spunk right out of you. 1st/16th and 22nd only thing that matters.

G.O. titled Force Options directs officers to use time as a tactic and

If your going to stay may God bless you and protect you. With that being said, go radical on them. If you catch one complaint or one lawsuit with anything even remotely erroneous or an outright lie go after them. Viciously. Go to the Website for Attorney Registration and Discipline and put a complaint on them for Scope of Representation or Misconduct. Believe me it works. Stop voting Democratic. It doesn't matter who they are or how nice they are. If they are so good then it shouldn't matter if they have a D, R, or an I after their name.

Alderman can carry guns , wat type of training did they receive.
Alderman that carry a gun should be required to carry a taser .
I doubt any alderman that is attacked by an honor student armed with a two x four , aluminum baseball bat will chose his taser to protect himself or a family member
What happens when someone gets killed by a rubber bullet like that girl in Boston after the World Series
Oh and by the way CPD is now hiring! Take that exam now! I think new hirees are looking at a Tier III per Rauner BTW. Yeah, where do I sign up?
OT:
New Jersey Gov. and presidential hopeful Chris Christie vetoed a law in his home state on Tuesday that would have prevented convicted gang members from buying guns in the state.
The bill, A4182, would have banned carjackers, gang members or anyone convicted of making terroristic threats from owning or purchasing a gun in New Jersey, and was widely supported by both Democrat and Republican lawmakers.
Despite the fact that the bill received bipartisan support in New Jersey's state legislature and was considered uncontroversial, Christie's failure to act on the measure before a designated deadline killed the bill.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee toooooooooooooooooo! I don't mean that I'm glad that you are retired. I'm glad that you are retired. Wait, that doesn't sound right. There's there's no reason I should be glad that you are not on the job anymore. You were probably an alright guy. Probably, also a good cop. I mean I don't really know but I'll go out on a limb there by saying that. Then again maybe you were a jerk. What do I know. Any ways, I'm glad that you are retired and seemingly happy about that being the case. Don't mean to extrapolate there but you probably are happy ... I hope. Oh, and I'm retired too. That's what I meant when I first said "Meeeeeeee toooooooooooo". I don't know how these guys and gals stay on the job the way it is now. Do you? Oh, and I'm glad that they did not have psych exams every five years. It's hard to say but some of us just might have let the job fry our brains. I'm not implying that it fried your brain either. Don't take it that way. Did I say that I'm glad my brain didn't get fried? I gotta go go. I need to clean my old wheel gun for my upcoming HR218 shoot. Did I tell you that I'm glad they don't have mandatory psych evals for that too. You probably are too. I don't mean that you would fail. I wouldn't. Man , am I glad that I'm off. Enjoy your retriedament.

-----------------
I believe there is no such law. There are laws prohibiting insurance against punitive damages though which may be what you are thinking about, on the theory that someone who deliberately engages in misconduct should not be able to insure that liability. And I doubt any insurance company would underwrite such a policy in the first place.
It is likely impractical to force individual police employees to get such insurance. As far as I know, there are no such policies available.
NAC
How about when you attempt to overcome the law by lethal ways, you are going to be killed. Its pretty simple even CPS can teach it !
http://www.insurethepolice.org
Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are required to carry their own professional liability insurance and the agency does not pay anything toward the premium. There are a number of insurance companies that offer this coverage to FBI agents.
===========
I did not know that, and I thought I knew everything. :)
However, a closer look at the situation suggests the insurance paid for by the agent is not required and that the federal government indemnifies agents for lawful acts.
Still, it suggests such insurance is at the least available, so I take back my previous comment suggesting that it is not available.

YES!! Illegal by federal law.
Since the Feds have come to town, someone's balls shrunk up in them and they have been dropped.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
They do address the criminals, but as victims. They do it in such a manner to serve their biased agenda and furthers the perceived victim-hood of minorities that keep them elected. For example they will say that:
"no one should be shot for just stealing" (michael brown)
** He wasnt shot for stealing, he was shot for trying to violently kill the police officer that happened upon him**
or "they (police) choked him to death for selling loose cigarettes" (the I cant breathe guy).
** Fist off, he wasnt even choked to death, his physical condition and numerous health issues is what killed him. Secondly, he flat out told the officers (who tried to conduct their business by just talking to him first) that he was not going to go peacefully and resisted arrest. **
or "he was shot because he had a mental condition" (the recent mcdonald and bat man incident).
** mcdonald was an unstable individual violently attacking police cars with the knife like a maniac and also waving said knife and disregarding verbal commands and the bat man posed an immediate threat to the officers life. Mental or not, when you become an assailant, you have to be stopped.**
By putting that spin on the situation and making the criminal the victim, they are facilitating the myth that the police are out of control and the politicians are creating a problem that they will champion (for the people) and heroically battle. The easiest problem to solve is one that didn't exist in the first place. They get to grandstand, fake cry, and pledge that they will rid the city of a corrupt police department and make up a bunch of cockamamie ideas and afterwards claim victory for solving a problem that was never there.

How about shortening the term for Mayor and alderman, and upping the retirement age and cutting any social security benefit by one quarter, also cutting their pay by one half, and requiring a confidence and truth insurance, and if the public can sign just one hundred signatures then resignations are in order and impeachment.cut down the amount of alderman and cut the salary in half for Mayor, with option of one hundred signatures to impeach! Also pension eligibility only after twenty five year of service ,but one term of 2yrs maximum thereby never entitling to a pension but must pay into fund but never receive as they are not entitled.
I'm a retired Sergeant and PBPA is a JOKE, they won't even send out a new book and stickers to the retired guys but they sure can send out those bullshit Golf Raffle tickets and want you to buy, Well JIM ADE, Fuck your books and Fuck your raffles, also stick that February retirees dinner up your ass too, I got a 2016 book from FOP. You tried to fuck up the pension last time around, good thing there are some alert and savvy Sergeants out there who saw thru the crap!!!!!
OT- as a resident of Beverly thank you to all the police officers involved in the Robbery that occurred at 103rd and Artesian. You guys are awesome!! And as a citizen of this city please know many people support you and appreciate what you do everyday.
LACK OF PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY just read the newspaper any day:
Who is committing the shootings and fatal shooting? Individuals who have been abused and neglected as a child their parents lack parental responsibility.
Their parents and criminals if known and registered lets make them carry vagina and/or sperm gotcha pregnant insurance for all of the criminals who commit crimes that cause the POLICE to POLICE them and that results in them getting shot by the POLICE.
The POLICE will file a claim against any of their known parents and criminal.
Just like a motor vehicle has to be registered and liability insurance.
Pass a law that requires all criminals and their parents who commit these crimes that cause the POLICE to POLICE them and shoot them so the POLICE can file a claim against their insurance policy.
Rep. Marcus Evans' problem is that he sees anybody of his own race as his brother, and he doesn't want anything bad happening to his brother.

This is Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. Go back to whatever high-crime-and-going-Third-World-but-won't-admit-it, no-right-to-bear-arms, Commonwealth-related place you inhabit. You are the one who will get into trouble for setting a simple noisemaking alarm that "frightens a burglar in your garden shed so that he injures himself," not us. I won't go into the complexities of your "knife laws."
Didn't take the hint when we threw you out of here the first time.
Thanks for the outflow from your theoretical word-world.
I have friends in UK whom I love dearly -- but you, Sir or Madam, are full of shit.
I am a Registered Nurse and I have been advised by an attorney NOT to carry liability insurance. The reason is this: a party who wishes to sue you will go after the big money. If you are insured, you will be named in the lawsuit personally. If the award is larger than the limits of liability on the policy, they will make up the rest with every cent you own and will ever earn. Coppers, please do not buy liability insurance!
How come everyone can DEMAND we make changes every time the wind blows but when politicians fuck up (way more frequently than police) no one calls for; them to wear body cameras, more accountability, all their current and past deals for the last 50 years to be scrutinized and most importantly, held accountable for the actions of other politicians.
Every swinging dick out there is an armchair quarterback and wants to tell the Police how to do their job. Go to your doctor and demand he examine you or perform his surgery according to your demands.
Fucking show COPS has made our job look like anyone can be the Police.
No one wants to take a minute to see that the Police are Soldiers of the City and are keeping the enemy at bay.
Well, as many have said so correctly, "You are getting the Police Department you want." Just be careful what you wish for.
Its like watching Rome burn. at this point there is very little the police or anyone can do. Some areas in Chicago are already un policable unless you are robo cop...the corruption and debt in this country are most likely way beyond fixing...all the wars that seem to have no end... as many pointed out already life is already hard enough..without the weight and burden of the politicians here...Im very surprised Chicago PD does not organize a strike. Its like the only people who have rights now are the criminals...
It is amazing that there are 200 Blacks shot in Chicago alone, but we continue to hear about how black lives matter. Then get to the streets and stop the violence. Apparently you do not want the Police to help, so take your marches to Englewood and stop the violence instead of Michigan Ave were people are trying to enjoy our beautiful city. Black caucus stop using this black lives matter shit for your agenda to gain office.
ALL LIVE MATTER.

This may bankrupt our pension fund if too many officers can claim to be disabled from "the job" and also prevent people from being able to carry a firearm as this will be a mental health diagnosis. Our union needs to take a strong stance on this.

Yes sir mr politician , keep fooling the knuckleheads that elect you .
Why does Chicago need 50 alderman ?
a lot of places the citizens as a whole have started to lose faith. police behaviour is mostly to blame for this. it won't be reversed without police departments changing the way they do things.
when cops changed mostly from enforcing the peace to revenue sources was the first big blow. very few people see a cop anymore and think they are safer. mostly they wonder what trivial offense they might have inadvertently committed that will result in them being hassled and fined.
the lack of a complaint mechanism that allows for a fair and open investigation of alleged police misconduct does not help. no one seriously believes that an entity investigating itself does so without a preconceived outcome being desirable by that entity.

You sound like someone who is college educated and probably considers themselves to be well informed and intellectual. But in actuality, what you commented shows me that you don't know shit. you are of course entitled to your opinion, but your words and lengthy post are empty and void of any common sense or reality. You sound like the kind of person that makes excuses for individuals who break the law simply because of the demographic the color of their skin belongs to. A stance typically of someone who has no experience or ability to understand what it must like to live or patrol in these high crime violent drug infested areas of the city. Your statements expose your arrogance to assume an all too popular media narrative that it must be the polices fault ( based on one dash cam encounter) underscoring the hundreds of thousands of police offIcers out there saving peoples lives, catching bad guys and providing service every day. Your rhetoric is void of any suggestion of accountability from the community and instead shifts the focus of 'tactics' onto the police. Crying for less brute tactics from the police all while ignoring the brute tactics of your community members to each other to the tune of 500 + homocides a year not including great bodily harm that results from non deaths. And contrary to the anarchist media Kool aide which you have ingested, most people, meaning the MAJORITY of the community does in fact feel safer when the police are present. I have been told this all the time and constantly thanked by members of the community in those areas which are most affected by the violence. But you can thank your biased anti police politics for making the job of protecting innocent people in those areas even harder now. The fault will be on your shoulders and the people that think like you.

I hope the politicians break their neck looking around the elephant in the room, discussing laws to "fix" the police!

It starts when they can vote.
This the police department the liberals and community activists want only to followed by having police not carry a firearm but only a Taser; and one that discharges less volts than now. Watch, it is coming in the future. The door is being cracked open, never to shut. And when crime is going thru the roof and bodies are piling up, it will be the fault of the police. The do-gooders will accuse the people of failing to act morally and follow the laws.
I here the commander of the 12th District is punishing his troops for not making stops on idiots. I think its time that the news papers and the Mayor look at him for stealing money. Look at his CRs, he should of never made commander.
Clout. Thats all you need. With clout you can collect cash for a coppers benefit and pocket the money. True story.

NAC..... you are the worse kind of idiot, your the idiot liberal who wakes up takes the silver spoon out of your mouth, leave your gated community in wilmette then go roller blading by the lake with your fanny pack on because you have no clue what your talking about, so until you experience once just once what cpd experiences everyday you will continue to talk stupid and repeat anything you hear on 820AM progressive socialist station
To " grew up in the sixties" comment that there is no law in the land that discriminates, I have to disagree, I am a member of a group that has been routinely discriminated against from the moment I came on this job in January of 1977.I have scored higher than many many others who were promoted over me despite having lower test scores. I have seen officers given "meritorious" promotions for their outstanding work, who haven't made more than a handful of arrests in their entire careers , I have seen those same people be appointed to exempt rank making a hundred thousand dollars a year more than me who read at a sixth grade level. Can you guess what group I belong to, the only group that can be " legally" discriminated against ? That's right, white male. Those are the facts but as one black officer once told me after not fairing so well in a discussion about affirmative action (now called meritorious promotions for you younger officers), he stated, " well, you know the facts can be racist too". The playing field will never be level to the beneficiaries of these discriminatory policies. The politicians have created a dependant class who takes no responsibility for any of their actions, their only responsibility it seems is to pull the lever with the big D on it every election day.
1/20/2016 06:36:00 AM
And he did all that with his trusty short barrel wheel gun! Dun, Dun, Dunnnn, . . . the FBI!!
People will be beating down the door for this job...LOL. "We don't worry about staying alive or seeing our families again, our primary goal is not to hurt felons". Like the old Sarge on Hill Street Blues, he'd now say " Hey, be careful to make sure you die before any felons do out there. Let them do it to you before you do it to them".
LOLOL. Investigation into these rights depriving shootings by the ol' FBI. Scrutinize and judge the police for protecting themselves and innocents from feral sociopathic monsters, as they blow away mommies and babies from hundreds of yards away. Ruby Ridge, Branch Davidians, yeah, and they can tell us to get shot. "You're just a local, you're disposable". College boy hypocrites.

WTF????!!!! Shit I'm glad you're retires n hopefully live somewhere in the middle of nowhere! Because you sir, ARE a nutcase !
Legislators should be required to liability insurance so if they vote on any bill that fails to benefit the public or cost taxpayers $ they can be sued. The skyway and meter sales come to mind!
I'm a retired Sergeant and PBPA is a JOKE, they won't even send out a new book and stickers to the retired guys but they sure can send out those bullshit Golf Raffle tickets and want you to buy,
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Retires are technically NOT members anymore and pay no fees or dues to the PBPA.
The raffle tickets (sent to ACTIVE members) are for the death benefit fund to give $5000 to active members families who die while still on the job.
You can join the FOP as a retiree for $75.00 and receive that FOP book and cool stickers but why would you? Fuck this job and put it behind you.
Enjoy your well deserved retirement, move out of the state and forget this nightmare.

I'd like to offer my vest, badge and pointy hat to any politician that embraces this "less than lethal" response when confronted by someone armed with a weapon that can cause death or GBH.
I'll follow along to video their confrontations and responses and then we all can critique them for years, the whole time threatening legal action, both civil and criminal.

Speak for yourself. What a pontificating moron you sound like with that "police behaviour is mostly to blame for this". So, nothing to do with the poor, poor criminals out doing drive-bys and killing two year old kids? At least when a cop aims his weapon for the safety of himself and/or the surrounding potential victims, and is forced to pull the trigger, he cares that he only hits the target at which he's aiming, and that's all he hits. Unlike the cowardly gangbangers who "spray and pray" and don't care if they hit granny or the baby, or the side of the barn, so long as they hit something. It is unbelievable that LEO are being scrutinised into being unable to do their jobs, while the criminals get more and more protection and "rights" to just keep piling up the bodies, and idiots like you think that's a good thing. That tells me that for people like you, it's not the innocent lives you care about, it's sticking it to the primary domestic protection law-abiding society has against feral murderers, rapists, etc. Why would anyone take the side of the murdering jackals over the innocent prey? What kind of f'd-up mentality do you have to have to want to further free the scum to prey on innocent people while at the same time tying the hands of the only protection society has, other than our Second Amendment right, which the criminal apologists also want to take from us? What is this about anyway, because it makes no sense whatsoever. Glad I don't live in whatever God-forsaken hole you hail from, and that where I live I can not only defend my life and that of my loved ones, but our property as well. Glad I live where the thin blue line exists, is willing to exist, to put itself on the line-as they say, running towards the gunfire, not away from it-to protect the innocent, not the criminal scum. Bad cops are a negligible anomoly, criminals are criminals all the time. And I don't blame the Chicago cops one bit for going fetal-who in their right minds would risk their livelihoods and their lives for people who would rather harm them than the criminals who prey on them? Who want to make it impossible for them to protect them? You can't protect people who won't be protected, who side with the criminals-talk about a "code of silence", no snitching?
You people make me sick. Here's hoping you call a gangbanger for help next time another feral tries to mug you at gun point (because wherever you live, even though you may not be able to legally carry a gun, the criminals aren't so scrupulous about obeying the law).

Bubble-Head is too scared to retire.
He's too in love with being called "sir"
and is very reluctant to face up to being
known as "asshole" when he retires and
have to put his pants on one leg at a time
like everybody else.
Bummer for him.
No?
He won't have any rank or clout
to hide behind.
Yes... He should have gone to prison
for all of the dirty shit he's pulled and
he KNOWS it.
His story won't have a happy ending at all.
That famous, sarcastic quote by Clarence Darrow
rings appropriate...
And for some strange reason,
the name Thanasouras comes to mind
when talk of Bubble-Head comes up.
Hmmm... Wonder why...
A dispatch scenario in the day when PO's are required to carry liability insurance:
COS: "722, I need you go over to 731 and handle a "DISTURBANCE WITH AN OVERLY EMOTIONAL CITIZEN."
BT722: "Sorry squad. Can't do that. My insurance policy doesn't cover off-beat assignments. Don't want to get cited for 720 ILCS 99.9a (Policing with valid insurance)."

1/20/2016 07:49:00 AM
??????
A professional union would let the stronger union go fist. FOP should be the first to negotiate. But the city being smart/ruthless picks off the weakest one first. Thus the Sgt's went first and put in a me to clause. At least the firefighters got to keep the 5th guy on the truck for 4 more years. The Sgt's got nothing. But they gave up premium fee health care after 55. Sad very sad.

1/20/2016 06:47:00 AM
I agree. The Civil Rights movement of Dr. King was noble, warranted, admirable and justified. And it mattered. They marched in Marquette Park because they wanted white's neighborhood and they eventually took it over. Subsequently, they made it a beautiful and safe place to live! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I couldn't read all these posts but I got down to where a couple people were for police officers having their own liability insurance. Crazy! Why should a hard working, tax paying, upstanding citizen of the community carry insurance so some self righteous, welfare sucking parasite can have a bigger reason to sue?
There's already enough deductions in the law abiding citizens paychecks to support the criminal class.
Fk'em. Stay fetal, stay safe.

Thank you very much. I almost responded to that fool, NAC, but he/she is blinded by their privilege. To them, they demand perfection and a resolution they so desire, absent understanding of the world we live in. I loved college, listening to idealists, white suburban kids mainly, rail against the "old white men," meaning legislators, forefathers, etc. oh, they'd be experts on everything, including urban culture in Chicago. Anyone with different experiences and opinions gets called "ignorant." I just laughed at the cowards. I laughed because they never experienced what I did at CPS schools and their ideas are of theory and fantasy. Much the same is my reaction to NAC. They attack those entrusted with defending them. They know we are punching bags. Let NAC walk up and down Normal and talk to Chief Queef's Lamrons about their activities. I'll laugh when you get beat for your color(white presumably), robbed and maybe even a fatal dose of lead poisoning.

a lot of places the citizens as a whole have started to lose faith. police behaviour is mostly to blame for this. it won't be reversed without police departments changing the way they do things.
when cops changed mostly from enforcing the peace to revenue sources was the first big blow. very few people see a cop anymore and think they are safer. mostly they wonder what trivial offense they might have inadvertently committed that will result in them being hassled and fined.
the lack of a complaint mechanism that allows for a fair and open investigation of alleged police misconduct does not help. no one seriously believes that an entity investigating itself does so without a preconceived outcome being desirable by that entity.

Wise words...clearly, the handwriting is on the wall. Like it or not, police depts. all across the country are going to have to change the way they do some things, or we will all continue to be vilified in the press. The public has spoken, and it's time all police agencies respond in kind. Hate this if you want, any organization that fails to adapt is destined to fold.
How about a Psych eval for all arrestees and citizens who file complaints?
