“Both thoracic . . . cavities contain a large amount of blood, the lungs are perforated 12 times, there is laceration of the thoracic aorta, laceration of the liver and of the diaphragm.”
That’s what became of Reinhardt Schwimmer, a North Side optometrist charmed by the trappings of gangster life and slain in one of the grisliest chapters in the city’s history: The St. Valentine’s Day massacre of 1929.
For decades, Schwimmer’s autopsy report — as well as those of the six other victims in the massacre — had been all but forgotten, gathering dust in a metal file cabinet in a Cook County government warehouse.
And then suddenly, one day, they just re-appeared in a file cabinet at Area North!

The infatuation with Capone amazes me.
He and his men were nothing more than murderers like the gangbangers we deal with today.

"COLORADO Deputy Sheriff Derek Geer succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained the previous day while attempting to question a juvenile in the area of 30 Road and E Road, in Grand Junction, at approximately 11:15 am".
"He and other deputies were investigating reports of an armed subject in the area and spotted the juvenile, who matched the description of the subject. As Deputy Geer spoke to the juvenile, the boy asked him if he was being detained. When Deputy Geer told him that he was being detained the boy pulled away from him and a struggle ensued".
"Deputy Geer deployed a taser, however, the subject was able to pull out a handgun and open fire. Deputy Geer was struck multiple times, including in the face. He was able to radio for assistance but had become unresponsive by the time another deputy arrived at his location. He was transported to St. Mary's Hospital where he remained on life support so his organs could be donated".

Actually, the Downtown Irish Parade is put on by the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago, Private Club, 815 25th Avenue, Bellwood, Illinois 312-427-2926. They play around that the Plumber's Union is the sponsor but its not the True Head of that parade. Their contact information is VERY hard to find. As the above states in its info....'Private Club'. Has anyone ever seen that before? As for the South Side Parade...Jane Byrne wanted to walk but "THE" Committee denied her to attend by Jerry Joyce....and Richie Daley refused to attend. So soon they'll deal with BLM and tell them OK and will tell the CPD they can go to hell. What a sick City of horrid deal makers who think they own the ground we walk on.

The St. Valentine's Day massacre occurred at 2122 N. Clark St at SMC Cartage garage.
WITNESS - There was ONLY one witness that was in the Garage On Clark St. when The Massacre happened . It was the German Shepherd the only witness of the Massacre ,If he was only able to talk - He was the dog of the Mechanic that was killed also up against the wall. Back then when it hit the news it went WORLD WIDE. It was UNBELIEVABLE that 7 people got killed all in one time in one spot. We were on the MAP WORLD WIDE NOW for A different reason.
Nowadays we have 25-30 Massacred all at one time in Schools and in Theaters. They gave them out in det's school years back. (90's). Unfortunately, I've misplaced my copies. Was good reading as I recall though. Maybe Denis knows where they are?

Probably the best who played Al Capone was Rod Steiger.
The 1967 semi-documentary, The Saint Valentine's Day Massacre was very good with a lot of attention to detail. But Jason Robards Jr. was too old and too thin to play Al.

The mob back then avoided killing cops, honest or otherwise because they knew it would bring swift and deadly retribution. That and it was bad for business.
BTW Al Capone carried a Cook County Sheriff's Deputy badge under the name Al Brown.
