Another Off Duty Wounded
- An off-duty Chicago police officer exchanged gunfire with two armed robbers early Monday after one of the gunmen told the other to shoot the cop, authorities said.
The officer, 49, was hit in the leg, and one of the robbers may also have been wounded in the shootout, according to interim police Superintendent John Escalante.
Detectives were questioning a person who showed up at Little Company of Mary Hospital shortly after the shooting with a gunshot wound, Escalante said. Due to the timing, police believe he may be the person shot by the officer.
The officer was parking his car near his home in the 10100 block of South Green Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood around 2:20 a.m. when the two gunmen walked up on either side and announced a robbery....
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Officer.

Atlantic City employees will receive their last paychecks on April 8 if the city can’t raise more cash to pay them, city officials said Monday....
Members of the police department said they will still report for duty even if they are not paid.
Atlantic City Police Officer Keith Bennett who also serves as the state delegate for the Policemen’s Benevolent Association, Local 24, said he met with Police Chief Henry White on Friday and was advised paychecks could stop after April 8.
“Chief White brought us in to tell us it’s a possibility after April 8, we won’t be getting paid. But, you know what? Every single officer I’ve talked to has said they are still coming to work to protect this city,” Bennett said.
Bennett said officers were notified over the weekend that their paychecks could stop. He said he has advised officers not make any large purchases at this time.
Bennett said officers will still receive health benefits because they are still employed, and death benefits will also be available, but there are still many legal questions that need to be answered.
“We’ve all taken an oath and when you have a mayor and an administration that has your back, and then you’re going to have his back and come to work and not let the city falter,” Bennett said.
Get well SB. My prayers are with you.
There was a time not so very long ago when a police officer was injured or worse that the whole of the CPD came to the streets bringing all manner of hellfire and pain. Sadly this is no longer true. The Departmtment is nothing more than loose bowled puppy shit from DeEscalante on down.
My prayers are for this officer also. St Michael protect you. And your family.
I hope he winged one or both of them n they'll eventually have to seek medical attention.
SCC- with all due respect, why are you publishing the Officer's block/neighborhood?
I understand why an officer involved in a shooting is on desk duty for a little bit, but that should be adjusted when your a victim of a crime assuming your not injured, just saying. Get well officer
Officer deaths via assault are up 250% from this time last year according to the officer down memorial page.
Get well soon officer
Another note. It's been some time now I haven't been proud to be a Chicago Police Officer. That is truly sad that this city, state and county has allowed the shithead to take over. Can't wait to see what happens this summer as copper are not going to put their lives, family, loss of income, job and even criminal charges for a city that is quick to toss us under the bus. That damn bus might even roll us over a couple of times just for the hell of it.
Only thing this job is getting from me is my ass showing up to work and answering my calls.
This county wanted the kinder gentler police well you got it and now I hope you enjoy it

There was also a time when judges and juries didn't imprison officers and financially ruin them, making their families endure very light meals, holidays with no presents, and the very real possibility of homelessness as well as ending any chances for future employment in the same line of work. So you can save the "I'm an old timer and we unleashed hell on the shitheads" mentality and end your assumption that every cop is "nothing but loose boweled puppy shit." If you don't think every cop who puts a badge on would like to be able to unleash hell, then you don't know police despite claiming to be one. Your generation of Burges and every other numbskull is what ruined it for the next generations. Tell you what, since you're so passionate about it why don't you gather up your colostomy bag, strap on that wheel gun, and avenge us - since you probably have about 6 years left on your life expectancy and your kids are grown and the only person depending on you is your doctor who is stealing from Medicare? Maybe between Lawrence Welk episodes you can show us all how it should be done. Since we're all so fucking soft.
So save the bullshit. Every cop is doing the best we can with what we can do.
Get Well SB..Don't take these shitheads for granted...stay very viglant and don't be afraid to lay these piece of shit down...fuck this city, take care of you and your family. they have so many incompetent bosses (ex: 015 Dist) on this job right now, sitting in spots because they are in some fucking fraternity or kissing ass to some fucking caucus..someonr have the balls to take back this city and tell the ACLU to go fuck themselves..STOP voting DEMOCRAT it hasn't gotten this city anywhere..Fucking city/country doesn't care for anyone especially BLACK people.. but they keep listening to these fucken idots. I'm ashamed and embarrassed for the CPD..

"But... But, but...
(Indignant sputtering...)
Policing is safer than it's EVER been!
You cops are a bunch of whiners who think too
much of yourselves! You don't hear deep sea
fishermen crying about how dangerous THEIR
jobs are! That's why we don't like you guys
so much anymore."
(Nary a Tuna or King Crab ever busted a handful
of caps out of a window/doorway at a Policeman.)
The lack of prospective and feverish adherence to
the "agenda" in regard to this argument is
eye-watering...
We need to bring back old way of doing things.

If you've been reading this blog for any amount of time, you'll know when you see type face in written in italics it comes from another printed source.
Speedy Recovery Officer....
When I started this job there would be all kinds of cops swarming the streets doing a dragnet and beat down until we were satisfied that we found the offender. No one even thought of filling out a time-due slip.
Now what do we do if the DOJ shows up on the scene.
Here, make yourself useful, hold this yellow tape.

Still the victim of a traumatic event.
Take the time off and recoup and get well.
This kind of shit is going to continue. Everyone is focused on low jobs, low income, no equal opportunity.
Did the article say the race or ethnic background of the shooters? The journalists I mean urnalists didn't mention that. But we can be sure if an on duty police officer had shot a thug, we'd know his name, race, shoe size, address, how many kids he has etc, etc.
When will the trib and sun times start calling these POS robbers pieces of shit? That's what they are but they won't say it.
The focus should be this city, country, world is going to hell in a hand basket because we have no moral compass any more.
How fucked up are these democrats? People are rewarded for NOT working. This allows them all the free time in the world that we could only dream of to make babies with as many baby momma's as they can, kill, steal, rape, get high, get drunk, maim innocent citizens and rob them in the process, burglarize and home invade and then return to one of the baby momma's cribs to hide out. Sounds like our politicians want this crime to exist so we don't focus on the real crime they are committing and accept this as mainstream. Can't wait for Trump to at least restore law and order in this country. If he would charge all sheriffs like our own tommy dart for not holding federal deportees that would be a start. Can you imagine your own sheriff ignoring the DOJ who wants to deport an illegal alien who has committed a crime here against a citizen of our city. This is so fffffed up.

With this President, is anyone surprised. I am still in shock that the pendulum just keeps swinging one way. I always thought it would come back, but it keeps getting exponentially worse. I honestly feel like that Indian on TV with the tear in his eye as I look at this Nation.
Get well soon Officer.
Get from my over there
My house would be on the market the next morning

Who giv3s a fuck what your dusty ass mammy says!! He can come home anytime just like he could have been attacked anytime! Get well SB, and a big FUCK YOU to the asshole posting about his mommy & bad things!
And the most important comment from the news the officer will be on administrative duty for 30 days per the new policy. He's been shot fucking scum of the city news media he won't even be back to work for who knows how long. Shitcago doomed
God bless you, officer, and recover quickly. I'm so glad he made it. Let's see if the justice system will hammer the shithead now.
Broader picture: The department and legal system have finally unified a fetal postured response to attacks on our own brothers and sisters. Three fucking cops shot at once, on duty and the hammer still hasn't dropped on the west side. That POS may be dead but his gang is alive. What message does this send when we know the shooter's identity but, instead of fucking with them from all angles immediately, we investigate only? It makes us look like the bitches we have become. Unless you have the Feds thay are going to take over prosecution of the entire gang, fuck you, do something. This is one fetal copper as well but thay incident demands an OJC response immediate and long-term.
To 7:04. Desk duty in shooting situations is not ment to be disciplinary in nature. Even tho it appears to the public that it means discipline or
"don't worry he's not on the street to shoot anyone else", it is ment to give an officer a chance to breathe and gather his thoughts while still being involved in some sort of police activity with the officers that he normally works with. I personally think they should have been doing this a long time ago. Taking the life of another, even when it is deserved, is still a traumatic experience. Keeping someone at home for a length of time might make matters worse, so the officer is kept with his peers in somewhat of a less stressful situation. I don't think much about the positive programs that the cpd does have for officers, however, I believe that this is a positive for officers involved in these situations. At least it is a step in the right direction. I do believe it was put in place to appease the public and the powers that be could care less about us and our well being, but it could still be a good thing for the officer that needs a chance to regroup after a shooting. Just as long as the officer and his co workers looks at it as a positive and not as discipline.
And THATS why we are in the shitter right now.....that attitude. Yeah. lets go crack some skulls!!!!! Right!!!!
We need to bring back old way of doing things.
