as i have been saying since day one, it wont be a current cpd insider. It only breeds questions and protests. This guy from atlanta is in per the fop. hes CNNs police expert and top commentator about police policy and he is Obamas guy. Lets not forget what this guy from atlanta recently compared the CPD to.. He said the CPD ride through the streets of chicago like the redcoats of boston". Yeah, we were just compared to the redcoats by our next supt. There have been numerous petitions to have this guy thrown off of CNN because of his ultra liberal and anti police stance on CNN. Yes he was a police officer but he was never the police... always a politico and sides with the liberal agenda more than anyone we have ever seen the likes of. If this guy comes in not a single media outlet or protester can say a peep about it. If gene gets it alls it does is give protesters and media a rekindled voice of outrage about "business as usual" in CPD. Stop fretting about it, hes already got the job. He is just finalizing his personal affairs to get into town.
Whoever it is is gonna bring changes. Changes suck. McCarthy is a perfect example. He did a whole lot of nonsense and talked a lot of nonsense and forced a bunch of idiot policies on us like no skull caps. Look for more great ideas like that. Ot: off-duty PO from 019 sees "aggressive male reaching for waistband" and conducts a protective pat-down. Male calls to family when one relative comes out and confronts PO with baseball bat, striking him multiple times in upper torso, PO shoots him twice in response.

I'm not saying he is wrong but I don't even make stops on duty anymore and never felt protected enough doing so off duty. 019 takes time to get into so I'm assuming he's not a young, proactive officer. So excuse me, but that's not exactly kosher. Good old Cedric could have waited to read the resumes of applicants, then write his, adding some things others may have omitted or not went into detail with. Making sure that his be just a 'little bit' better than the rest, giving himself an obvious unfair advantage.
So once again Chicago lives up to its reputation for corruption and inside deals. Because even if it's all above board with Cedric, it appears the fix is fucking in. And THAT *should be* the last goddamn thing Tiny Dancer wants now. Then again, Rahm would actually have to give a shit about making Chicago better for that to happen.

The association/union that represents the supervisors of CPD and many other departments, part of a national organization, NAPO. Sean is a very knowledgeable individual and you are lucky to have him on your side. Much better at what is going on nationally then what local Lodge 7 has. Sean is also on the DOJ team for the City of Cleveland and for the CPD, representing the working cops. He also had his hand in helping the cops in Fergusan, MO.

There's precedent for this. After the Summerdale scandal in 1960, Richard J. Daley put together a committee to select a new commissioner of police (subsequently changed to "superintendent). He asked O.W. Wilson, then a professor of Criminology at the University of California at Berkley to head the committee. Wilson had been a Berkley police officer and for 11 years was Chief of Police in Wichita,KS. It turned out to be all a smoke screen as Daley wanted Wilson to be superintendent from day one. He gave him an open checkbook but made it pretty clear to Wilson that City Hall would still have say over promotions, etc. Not much has changed in 56 years, has it?
Williams screwed up narcotics BIG time. Thats why Hillard and Cline kept him away from any real POLICE duties. He took care of that other clown triple merit Dep Chf in OCU. Narcotics is a joke with current leadership and Williams only wants more females to promote. Williams is completely UNQUALIFIED as he has been part of the problem under Jody and Garry that put us in this mess.
Some "Democrats" were shooting from one car to another downtown on Balbo near Michigan Ave on Saturday afternoon at 2pm in broad daylight. What happens if you ignore them. NOTHING Many big police departments don't have anything to do with them. They are nobody
CPD Uses them if they want to implement a policy. If CPD doesn't want a policy they won't implement it because of Calea. They just use them as an excuse to put changes through, but only if CPD wants the changes

Unless things have changed since I retired, Graphic Arts has been doing posters and tickets for decades for the various groups and their functions. In addition, we used to call the Crime Lab for a photographer.

Holy Name Cathedral has a toilet in the sacristy that's been on the job and seamlessly interacting with minsters and the public at large for more than sixty years. Hiring that shitcan to be the next CPD Superintendent would be a better idea.

I agree with maxing out deferred I stayed in fixed saved money now have $500,000 I can take interest only as extra income pay tax on it that would give me extra $1,050 month cash without touching principal, interest compounding works!

The max U can put in Def Comp is $18,000 per year unless U'r over 50 and then U can play catch up. Theres no way U'r putting a G a check if U'r under 50.

Isn't Gene Willliams under investigation for giving out test answers?? And also using the Graphic Arts Dept for his own personal use for his organization NOBLE. Free flyers, booklets and tickets . LAPA and the Emerald Society can't use these Dept resources.

Unless things have changed since I retired, Graphic Arts has been doing posters and tickets for decades for the various groups and their functions. In addition, we used to call the Crime Lab for a photographer.

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday agreed to pay nearly $6 million to a group of police officers who accused their superiors of imposing a secret traffic ticket quota system on the Westside.
The settlement, approved unanimously, brings to more than $10 million the amount of taxpayer money spent on payouts and legal fees from the ticket quota cases. But that number could grow because one more officer's case is still pending.
The ticket controversy has been a black eye for the Los Angeles Police Department. Ticket quotas are against state law. After the officers' allegations were made public, LAPD officials met with police union representatives and signed a letter emphasizing that the department prohibits quotas.
Dennis Zine, a former City Council member and career LAPD motorcycle officer, said the settlement calls into question LAPD's traffic division management. Zine is also incensed that Capt. Nancy Lauer, who ran the LAPD's West Traffic Division at the time of the allegations, has been promoted.
"This whole thing clearly shows me that management did not do what they needed to do, and taxpayers are footing the bill for that,'' said Zine, who lost a bid for city controller in this year's municipal elections.
Matthew McNicholas, one of the officers' attorneys, called the action "a very fair" resolution. "These guys had targets put on their backs and nothing happens to this captain. In fact, she's since been promoted. The message that sends from the department is, 'We do what we want, how we want.'"
These three names aren't written in stone ... or in City ordinance. Rahm can ask for three more names if he isn't happy with what they give him. When Daley was given three names after Cline left, he told the Police Board he wasn't happy with their three choices and to send him three more. Then he went and hired Jody Weis without Police Board recommendation. No one said a word about it. Could see the same in this case.

Looks like its Cedric the entertainer to the rescue. Meanwhile it will take him a year before he knows where the lake is. 2 years until he understand our capabilities, laws and constraints. 3 years before he realizes the the things he thought would work here dont. And just about 4 years before he realizes he made a career ending mistake by taking the Chicago job. And literally thousands of lives will have been lost and the moral of the Department will continue to spiral even lower during this failed experiment. This is what happens when governing turns its back on doing the right thing and instead does what looks right.
