Copper confronts catalytic converter thieves, who try to hit him with their car:
- An off-duty officer fired his weapon at someone driving toward him Thursday morning after the officer found someone vandalizing his car, police said.
The officer saw the man vandalizing a parked car in the 5500 block of North Neenah Avenue in the Union Ridge neighborhood about 5:55 a.m., police said.
When the officer confronted the man, he fled to a waiting car driven by someone who accelerated toward the officer while trying to flee.
This is supposed to be a pattern up north according to e-mailers. Wishing a speedy recovery to the officer.

Years ago some shit head tried to break into a house in Norwood park owned by a Capo in the Mob,His body was found in the Desplaines River.
It's unfortunate that the offenders were not hit.
not the police but as a local resident I can tell you it's pretty much a constant thing here.several times a night.i've seriously stepped out on my deck for a smoke at 2 am and heard the wailing of a cordless sawzall nearby.even if caught,prickwinkle will just give them a slap on the hand.thank you to the officer who tried to get them though.hope for a full recovery.
Hoping the officer was not seriously injured. It just goes to show that desperate people will do desperate things when confronted.

In the Minority areas the flyers are anti-police. Bite the bullet and ask for a Democratic ballot and show Kim Foxx and Toni Perwinkle that we are a force to be reckoned with. Colleen Daly for Judge, she was a great prosecutor, as a defense attorney great for cops, and is a Sergeants wife. Yes it's all on the democratic ballot.
I know in this climate it can't be easy to get involved in shit like this. I want to say thank you to the off-duty (and all off-duty po's) that put themselves out there for the best interest of The Homeland.

It's a pattern city wide and the surrounding suburbs. Until one of our elite intelligence units gets involved to pinpoint who is buying them this will continue. They sell them to recyclers who open them up and take out the ceramic plates. The plates contain platinum but need to be smelted using a very precise method and high heat. Usually they are smelted in Indiana. A semi full of catalytic converters will get about a pound of platinum. But it's property crime so downtown doesn't care.
These thefts haven't been newsworthy for several years now until a copper is involved. More sympathy for the shit bird thieves from the media!

Hate being victimized like this? Park in your garage then. Garages were primarily designed to hold cars, not man caves or tons of xmas and holloween lawn decorations or general storage. Don't have a garage cuz you had to be a trendy hipster? Too cheap to rent one in the neighborhood cuz your condo unit didn't come with a garage? Too s*^t, that's on you. Enjoy life in the big city folks.

Some real soft-serve BS in Trib story and others on Trump riot; people attending the rally were kept safely inside the building until the streets outside had been cleared -- "otherwise we'll have a war." Bottles were thrown at police, several officers injured and taken to hospital, "protesters" got into the parking garage with hammers and bats and damaged people's vehicles, and there were numerous major fights.

A few years ago, there was a scrap dealer right off the 290 ramp at VanBuren and Washtenaw who would buy the stolen converters. He actually had a business card from a Cook County Boss hanging on the wall by his cash register. I wonder if it is still in business? Just one of the many on the west and south sides!

Unfortunately it really IS reported as a "Theft-under $300" with a secondary classification of CDTV. The cost of the old catalytic converter is the basis for the ""under $300" it's not the replacement cost nor is it the cost of the damage done to the muffler system. For example, if someone took my 10 yr old BBQ grill from the backyard it would be te value of the grill not the new $2000 model with all the gadgets that I replace it with. It's actual value, not replacement value.

OK - here is the strategy for stopping the catalytic converter bandits.
Set up a couple of bait cars. Put in a dummy catalytic converter filled with a nest of hornets and wasps. As soon as they are ripped out, the angry hornets and wasps attack.
Whether you catch them at the scene or not, you will be able to identify the criminals by all the stings they have on them. Of course, if they are still living.
To the guy pushing Democrat ballots....
1.) It's over for LE in Chicago. Alvarez will fuck you just as hard as Foxx.
2.) Judge and Sgt. Daly will not be thinking about you when they buy their vacation home, send their kids to Harvard, or retire to FL while you're stuck in this pit.

Don't forget about their grants, scholarships and student loans. If they're too ignorant to understand the Constitution and act in a lawful way, they shouldn't be in college. International students who violate our laws should be deported immediately. Enough of the stupidity and anarchy.
Was a victim myself of Cadillac converter theft, cameras are useless unless we get a plate or something, even a decent sensitive alarm might help but will still cost you money and seeing how fast it's taken might not help. More personnel is the only answer and maybe some luck some off duty will be nearby . We are losing the battle in the city and now close to our homes !!!
South of the highway in Norwood you need to keep an eye out lately. hz148025 robbery at 1230 on the 4800 block of Natoma. Always have the gun concealed on you. If your wife doesn't have a concealed carry license at least make sure she is carrying OC spray if she goes for walks. I'm getting a german shepard soon.........
Saturation team North too busy writing up ISR's to do police work. Now if we could get these hard chargers to be real policemen the rest of us could retire. But alas I don't think there are enough superman outfits to go along.

My neighbor had his stolen on north keeler in 017 last fall. Our condo had great video of the offenders. Copper on days in 17 blew off inventorying the video. Finally awesome 3rd watch cops did a supp and inventoried it. I hope the dets. Looked at the video.
