- Shootings have left one dead and at least 15 people wounded since Tuesday morning, more than were shot citywide over the entire weekend.
People were injured in attacks from the River North neighborhood downtown south to the Morgan Park neighborhood and as far west as Karlov Avenue.
"...as far west as Karlov Avenue"? What does that matter? Karlov is only 4100 West and the city streets run out to the 8000s in some places. Karlov runs through some of the shittiest parts of the west and south side. This is a surprise? To whom?

The city better have extra police at the Trump rally at UIC pavilion it's a shame that folks who want to disrupt this are willing to create violence...maybe keep protesters as far away like 5 miles away from all this. folks have a right to hear out who they would like as a candidate for the Republican party.

But will claim a shooting, fire, robbery, book fair, etc. on the same street but in the Austin neighborhood is the west side. How? Please explain to me How the hell is north ave or Division & pulaski the "northwest side" but North Ave or Division & Cicero or Central the west side? Its all the fucking west side!

Aw, they have some kind of geolocation software going that has divided up the city into about 800 "neighborhoods" and assigned them all names -- I was born here and never heard a lot of these names before in my life.
It is an outgrowth of marketing/demographics databases -- some of which also assign nasty little names to groups of people living in an area. "Blue Collar Boozers" and "WASP Lawn Trimmers," "Wheelchair Willies," stuff like that. Buy the mailing list you want and start your sales campaign.
We are just meat to these people.

Me too. A week or two ago, they called the Lincoln Square neighborhood the NW Side. If it's not west of Cicero, and not north of at least Armitage, it's not northwest. I'm glad there are others who get irked about this too!

In Arizona at someplaces when they know there will be protesters, they rope off an area and mark it "Free Speech" area and the protesters have to stay within that space. Good luck trying that in Chicago.

You know what you don't see? Republicans, or even conservatives in general, protesting at Hilary events or Sanders events or anything like it. As much as I hate these people, I'm not going to protest outside their stupid rallies. I'd rather not be surrounded by these morons. Trump has the interests of police better than the others he even stated when he takes office he will sign executive order "If you kill a police officer you will get federal death penalty" and that my friend is great news go Trump!
