Schools to Sue for $$$
This is one way to fun schools we suppose - sue the people running them into the ground:
- Chicago Public Schools on Thursday filed a civil complaint seeking $65 million in damages and civil penalties from former CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett and others accused in a kickback scheme involving the district.
The 10-count complaint names Byrd-Bennett, Gary Solomon, Thomas Vranas, SUPES Academy and Synesi and was filed in Cook County Circuit Court. It includes allegations of civil [conspiracy], breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and unjust enrichment, the district said.
“With scarce resources, staff furloughs and painful budget cuts, CPS is keeping a close watch on every dollar,” CPS CEO Forrest Claypool said in a statement. “Barbara Byrd-Bennett and her co-conspirators knew the District's dire straits and still concocted this scheme to divert needed resources away from classrooms and line their own pockets. So today CPS took action in Cook County court to go after the $65 million in damages and civil penalties that our children are entitled to receive. With serious budget challenges facing the district, we'll continue to fight for every dollar our children deserve.”
Byrd-Bennett resigned last year amid a federal probe into a no-bid contract awarded to one of her former employers, SUPES Academy. She pleaded guilty last year to charges that she steered the no-bid contract worth more than $23 million to two education consulting firms in exchange for cash kickbacks and a consulting job. She faces over seven years in prison.

It's called the "keep lawyers fully employed and wealthy act". Win or loose there will be lots of lawyers involved on both sides of the suit and they don't work for free.
She was bribed with 'cash ands a consulting job'. Look at the second part of that bribe, a consulting job. How many politicians and police brass have you heard taking "consulting jobs"?

Some of the things CPS does is a complete mystery. One of them is not going after the $457K stolen by a tech coordinator (Roberto Tirado) who authorities say was killed in Mexico, yet, no body was ever found, neither as the $457K, and Tirdao's wife still lives in their house which is way out of her income bracket.

Absolutely, Sue the Felon Bitch! In one article on this woman, it stated that when she gets out of prison, she will receive over $100,000 a year in pension from the various school systems she ripped off. Make her pay and cut her-off of public money, especially pension money.
It will be a wash after they deduct the lawyer fees.
Back ground check of BBB past made her a prime candidate for the job as so many others before her. Rahm knows who and how to pick these thieves much like himself.
Breach of fiduciary duty? Would that be anything like failing to shore up pension funds or to fix failing infrastructure while spending exorbitantly on projects that the city is not obligated to fund?

For the children???.. Shit do that thing that a majority of states do--- offer a voucher so you can send your kids to private school.
Maybe she can get aid and assistance for Calypso Louie and the spaceship crew. Afterall, Barbara Byrd Bennett is a MGT that received her "X" years ago as Barbara 39X. Not sure of the number but her X was in the thirties.
Claypool should be very careful with this, I think the CTA/Ventra scam he was in charge of should be looked at too
