Leo, Fix This

  • A semi driver was shot and seriously wounded as he drove north on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 95th Street on Thursday night, the second shooting on a Chicago expressway in five days and among more than a dozen this year, state police said.

The 68-year-old driver was struck in the face around 11:45 p.m. and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in critical condition, state police said.

Early Friday, state police troopers shut down the northbound lanes of the expressway between 87th and 95th for several hours while they investigated the shooting.
So far, we've heard that Leo had instituted "boxes" on the expressways. The trouble is that the "boxes" were moving at 55 miles per hour (75 on parts of the Dan Ryan) and the troopers were being passed by the actual boxes due to the deteriorating condition of their squad cars.

It is said then that Leo decided to have the troopers only patrol that portion of the expressway that ran through Englewood, but as that only covers about one-mile, the troopers were obstructing traffic more than patrolling it.

Finally we've come across rumors that certain "high scoring" lieutenants have been directing night time traffic onto the expressways in a concerted effort to lower crime numbers and secure their ascension to exempt rank due to these so-called "strategies."

Hey it could happen.

belching out of both pipes,
shot dropping m/fer
from that day in 1962 when the
entire length was green flagged.

How about we just close off all the entrances from Chicago?
And about two thirds of the exits too.

There are plenty of prisons in Illinois waiting for criminals to be sentenced and serve their whole term behind bars. If only the politicians had the backbone and enthusiasm to change the sentencing laws that would ultimately provide safety to the citizens, as they do to criticizing the police and throwing them under the bus at every opportunity.

Leo or any other ISP person can do nothing about these shootings. What are they supposed to do? Set up roadblocks? Target vehicles which have drivers that look like bangers? (hello ACLU)

All that he ISP needs now is a second in command to compliment Leo's brilliance. Kulbida could retire, then assist Leo and the ISP in combatting crime on the xways.

So was this a "targeted" shooting (nothing for the public to worry about) or a "random" shooting (nothing for the public to worry about)?

I have a new strategy. ISP should give Chicagoland expressways back to CPD.(remember the 1985 lottery proceeds deal?)
That will reduce the increase in shootings 100 percent for ISP. What's an added 20 more shootings for CPD stats when they have so many already?
If you would have seen how the expressways were staffed and patrolled by ISP in 1986 compared to now......the old "do more with less" strategy is NOT working. 10 troopers per shift were assigned to the Dan Ryan between I290 and 95th in 80s. Now-1? Amazing.
CPD could do much better staffing I am sure with all of their extra officers? Hahaha what am I dreaming....

I haven't seen anything in the newspapers about this. Further, if you look at the report, it points out that the fund will be out of money in 10 years AT THE CURRENT RATE OF FUNDING.
Plus, Investment expense is running about 50 Basis points or $25 Mill per year. Vanguard would charge 10% of that amount.

Ha Leo and Roti. Hard to believe but you guys succeeded in making the ISP even more troubled than before. Do you realize yet the gang bangers aren't intimidated of you round brown Montana Peaks? But those various colored marked cars on the tollway sure look sweet! Bet the gang bangers are scared to drive the tollway! Let the clown show continue. About the only thing you're missing is the issuance of big red bozo noses. But I seem to remember a few years back before Leo's time all the troops marching at the Saint Jude parade were wearing some type of big buttons on their fancy blouses. Maybe they were bozo buttons. Just keep collecting your big fat salaries guys in addition to you big fat CPD pensions. Legalized theft!

Blame Leo? hardly blame the black lies movement, the revs, but most of all blame Rahm and his friend at the White House who emboldened the thugs, and rahm who keeps on the beating police up bandwagon by releasing everything to the media the police do! For example in 60 day increments videos of coppers actions even before a hearing! Nothing like getting the animals ready with a hot summer coming correct rahm? Look at corporate America, if a CEO of any company did what failed rahm does on a daily basis they would of been fired, whoh wait a minute think when Trump takes office he can send the feds in to look into rahm and Trump could tell him "your fired!"

Can't we just establish an American penal colony somewhere? Thanks to NASA's budget cuts, Jupiter is off the table, but could some remote islands be turned into prisons? The Midway to Midway Project. Convicts board a C130 just a little way south of downtown on Cicero Ave, and end up not too far from the wreck of the , instead of the Yorktown Mall.

But i like VRI a lot (thanks boss) I even bought a new DVD player and am paying monthly for the new satellite hookup to watch baseball games as i sit and relax, i got a car where the lighter socket is out, but they sell a power pack yes bought that also.

We can watch the shitshow like live theater, as long as we are safe nothing else matters! God bless CPD! blue matters back each other up!

I completely agree with you when it comes to bubblehead but LT BF is one of the best bosses I've worked for in this department. He's not a fan of the nature boy either and he was never up Leo's ass. LT BF looks out for his guys and took care of me when I had family in the hospital. I would work for LT BF again in a heartbeat. He's earned his stripes by doing well on both promotional exams and not by merit. If he has a problem with you it's because you're a dumbass. Not a rip on ISP, simply fact.

Hmmmm, you work in 012, but you you are an expert about what went on in 007. Seems might you might have an axe to grind. Might you even be a retired guy? With a stalking problem?

Well...
"Flyin'on the Ryan"
wasn't always so fraught with peril.

Our much younger self loved riding with the old man
in what was the most beastly car for several
blocks around:

1961 Plymouth Fury.
Ex ISP pursuit vehicle.

"GAWD that thing is UGLY!"
But WHOOO! That sucker could
HAUL THE MAIL!

Ya ever hear a 4 door sedan that just sounded
mad as hell?

-383-
Four Barrel with a dual snorkel intake.
Push Button Torque Flite transmission.

"Hang on kid!"

Everybody jest a-grinnin'...

One uncle admitted to racing with it and
making pretty good money.

"Man! Plymouths are SLOW!"
>Starts it up<

>Rumpety-Thumpety-Rumpety-Thumpety!<
O_o?

Apparently ISP had some real motorheads
in charge of it's fleet. They were rumored to be running
'61 Furies with 413's too so figure a top end WAY up in the 140s.

Not that we advocate such but there WAS a lot less traffic.

Talk about flames out of the tailpipes...

Fond memories.

Well...
There was a certain 5.0 Mustang some years later
but that's just an unconfirmed rumor.

>Grin!<

I worked for BF. I never worked less than a full tour. Never drank with him either. Don't know anyone who has. He is also the most intelligent person I have met on the department. He is 100% for the troops and is sorely missed in 007. If we could clone him we would be a much better department. To whoever his "stalker" is, move on with your miserable life. Nobody wanted to hear it when you were around, nobody wants to hear it now. It's all in your head. Seek help.

The one in 2015 on 294 was arrested and is pending trial. At least us troops on the tollway can get shit done, and yeah we look good in our colored cars. From the bottom of my ISP heart, GFY.

They should let CPD back on the expressways, poor Rahm hasn't figured out he could make a tone of $$$$$ in ticket revenue.
The ISP is just like CPD, undermanned and expected to save the world, yet the politicians are the ones who have let our numbers be depleted in ISP's case 30-40%. Arguing between Rauner and Madigan has ensured it's only going to get worse. I think you can't find anyone who could fix this.

Hey old man, worry about your replacement hip and where the wife hid the denture cream, let the police work to us. As for the ISP, they are down 50% from 10+ years ago. Just because you didn't see a trooper with someone curbed doesn't mean they aren't out there. I travel the tollway everyday and see several ISP out there working.
