Chicago Values
- Heated tensions between the two families spilled over after Wednesday's emotional bond hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building. After some pushing took place outside the courtroom, sheriff's deputies separated the two sides and escorted them outside. But a few minutes later, several members of both families tussled on a parkway, trading punches. One man body-slammed another before numerous deputies ran outside to stop the melee.
No one was arrested.
So a public brawl and no one arrested - par for the course. And we'd bet, directly attributable to the circumstances that led to the stabbing death of a 15-year-old by a 13-year-old, with a knife supplied by Mama.
After all, stuff like this has been going on at Jackson and Western for months (remember the firework fight?). Actually, it goes back decades if you count the old Rockwell Garden days:

Rockwell Gardens? Yes, I recall that nightmare. The robberies and murders all around the Gardens, especially on the CTA platform. In face, one day two uniformed police officers were waiting for the elevator in the lobby ( a terrible mistake), when the doors opened and there stood three armed residents of the gardens. What choice did they have? They disarmed the two police officers and fled the building. those two were very lucky that day.

What has happened to consideration for the risk to public safety? This shit erupts everywhere now. Normal people are not safe. It's wrong. If people who act this way are taken seriously and given a voice on the nightly news as if how they live and behave deserves respect, what message does that send to people who have a code of conduct for functioning in the world? If there is no distinction between decency and lawlessness in the national narrative why would anyone make the effort to behave themself? It's as if the contributors to society have been forced into a corner where they are expected to be quiet and keep paying for everything.

Two years ago I suggested the same thing, but put it on cable instead, just to avoid having hyped-up spectators leaving onto the streets afterwards. Gangs with disputes would register to use the facility and only certain types of weapons would be permitted. This gets them off the streets and limits collateral damage.
I mean, what the hell? It's happening anyway. Chicago taxes the shit out of everything already. Cage fighting is legal. Why not this?

This is called social justice. This is what the left liberal progressives protect and defend to the death. Obama, the ACLU, Jackson, Sharpton, and every other race hustling scam artist believe these people are doing nothing wrong, and for anyone to interfere with their natural violent tendencies or criminal conduct - especially law enforcement, is discriminatory and violates the right to their existence. If innocent bystanders get caught in the middle, particularly those of the fairer complexion, they are considered acceptable losses in the name of "equality". If you don't believe it, just do a search of incidents involving black on white crime and you will discover numerous reports of violent hate crimes against whites, the majority of which never receive the smallest fraction of media coverage that they give to any incident involving a police officer and a black offender. You will find no community outrage, marches or protests. You will not hear the president or any other elected officials or "community activists" address the issue, as they have done so many times before when it is a black victim of crime or black offender involved in a controversial police encounter. It is not right, but that is irrelevant for those seeking "social justice". By definition, that means any outcome is deemed fair so long as a particular group of people as a whole benefit. I was at court at 555 W Harrison with a friend and one hoodlum was constantly trying to push the complainant while the Sheriffs did nothing. After they left the courtroom, obvious shounds of fighting erupted with Sheriffs running wildly to stop something that should have been stopped in the courtroom and the aggressor should have been arrested. End of violence, it is not rocket science.

So did my parents when the neighborhood started changing in the early 1990's. - they got out. Was a GREAT neighborhood. Sorry to say - too little to late for you.

Last summer I was stopped for the light at Jackson and Western when a melee ensued in front of my car. Scared the crap out of me and I would have ran them over before letting them get into my car. I decided to seek medical care closer to home and not return to Rush. It isn't safe driving down the main thoroughfares in broad daylight in some areas of the city.
That video is why I never got a patrol rifle.

Extremely well said, and very scary because it is true. In my years of living I know the pendulum always swings back to center. The question is who or what is going to stop this increasing erosion of our social fabric because "normal" now is starting to look like anarchy and in the long run, that's never going to work.

Can't blame the Deputies for not locking the offenders up - Prickwrinkle and Dart would turn the tables and accuse the Deputies of excessive force and dramatically reveal the video to a groveling Chuck Goudie. Then Chuck can film the pizza party for inmates who refrained from masturbating in front of female staff.

Dude. I said the same thing a few years back. Check out Pivothead discreet video sunglasses (and no, I don't work for Pivothead). Secretly record your daily interactions that would make the general Joe Publics' stomach churn, but yet you see everyday (no printer paper, dirty cars, less than civil behavior, etc...).
