Are These the Numbers?

Remember those "new" cops, sergeants and lieutenants Rahm pulled off the street for a graduation photo op? Someone posted these numbers:
  • By the way media, 150 cops from inside spots to outside spots means nothing when 113 coppers will be official retired after they finish their 7A furlough segments in a week or two. We lost 46 sgts since may 1st and we lost about 86 P.Os in may and June. So 86 in may and june, and 113 in july equals 199 police officers lost. Add in Sgts lost and its about 245 bodies lost since may 1st. So really, those 150 just added a band aid to a gushing gunshot wound.
And those retirements are probably going to accelerate as the "55-and-out" expires this time next year.

The remaining CPD coppers just need to work harder, smarter, and more efficiently to make up for low numbers. Oh, and don't forget to stay fetal/safe.

They actually hit bare bone back when McDrinkiePoo and Emanuel "rightsized" the Dept back in 2011.

If they wanted to run a real organization, they don't have the personnel to do it any more. So now they just fake it.

I could not wait to reach 55 so I retired at 52 after 30 years, wife has same ppo plan. Wasn't going to chance losing everything acquired over the years to some shit head and his lawyers, because they sue for anything now days. Given the current conditions within the department now verses when I joined no comparison, all my heroes have either past or retired. So I thought long and hard and have no regrets. Got out in time and with sound mind and body...stay fetal fellow brothers and sisters you'll know when you've had enough...

Hard to believe the media just parrots what the CPD tells them, without question.

I'm listening to this 'news report' that says that the police will be out in force this holiday weekend with 5000 officers on the street.

LOL! When's the last time anyone saw that kind of manpower around this city?

They must have a warehouse somewhere with dozens of uniformed mannequins that can be deployed on a moments notice. That's the only possibility I can figure out.

That's ok because Eddie DOUBLED his personal staff on the 5th floor. He now has enough secretaries, door holders, admin sergeants and ghost payrollers that he can tell other people to be sick and tired for him. Because it gets real tiring being sick and tired all the time.

For those that do not read or cannot understand the contract, under articles 28.2, 25.2 and the Memorandum of Understanding the 55 and out program continues after the contract runs out until a new contract is in place.

After Jun 1 of 2017 you can still retire at 55. You will have to contribute 2% of your annuity towards healthcare until you become medicare eligible. That 2% figure cannot be raised due to a boost in the next contract if you retire under the terms of this contract. If you turn 55 after this contract expires and are at or close to being maxed out for pension purposes and want to retire before the next contract is agreed upon, the smart money says to grab the 2% for healthcare (about $1500/year or $125/month).
I know this information is for a small group but we do exist.
Anyone care to weigh in?

One of the first things Rahm said he was going to do
was "Stick it in the Cops ear."

On top of showing up at Fire Houses to purposely
shit-talk Firemen:
"You're gonna have to learn to bleed."

Meanwhile, the Chicago electorate was creaming
it's panties because Obama's "former" Chief-of-Staff
"said" he wanted to be mayor...

Bullshit...
A desperate man who overplayed his hand in the
White House and grasped at a long-shot to maintain
some semblance of political relevancy.

Rahm Emanuel would have self-destructed
S P E C T A C U L A R L Y
had he been unable to steal the mayoralty
of this city...

Daley Inc. needed a "cleaner."
Period.

Rahm needed a place to land.

"Be tough and take on those
Cops and Firemen so you
can finesse a spot on the
Democratic Ticket as a
Presidential candidate or
even veep..."

Here's a man who managed to hit his lick and
fraudulently enrich himself to the tune of what?
$18 to $22 Million?

And the best thing he can do is fuck with people,
of whom the majority, play by the rules best they can?

Every bad thing you're seeing in this city is the result
of Rahm Emanuel's feverish mismanagement and
astounding tone-deafness for a supposedly savvy
Political Operator who knows all the answers.

Problem the police don't project love and fuzzies. According to L. Lynch, AG, what we need to fight crime and terrorism is love and hugs. The CPD would be better off to hire the Swedish Bikini Team.

The city wasted little time in showing these civilians the city's true colors.
Almost from the very beginning the city has lied and misrepresented things to them.
Oh yeah they also took away $7K of their promised salary.

These civilians are starting to realize how rotten and fucked up the city, and especially this department, is.

They have bean counters with stars and guns working in offices making fancy charts and graphics in an effort to bamboozle everyone into believing they can do more with less if they only allocate the few manpower resources they have left in the right spots. Meanwhile back in the real world, calls for service are increasing along with backlogs and wait-times. Less and less people at roll calls, less time off, less training, less resources, less safety, more supervisors, more negative publicity, more scrutiny, more punishment, more injuries to officers, and more demand for activity. You cannot manage the public safety operations of a major urban municipality like a gummy-bear factory.

I am now finally filling out my retirement papers. I'm done here. I'll leave it to the millennials. They don't mind so much being on camera 24/7. I'm not sure I made a difference the way they run the Dept. But I am done as done can be. My home is up for sale. This is not the city I begun with. Too many social changes for the worse IMHO. everything is backwards. There is no common sense anymore. Get a pension before they fire you for doing your job. I saw a new recruit the other day, and it made me very sad. I wished him luck, and meant it. They told me I was in the greatest Police Dept in the country, and doing the greatest job you could have on day one at the academy. I wonder what they told him?

BTW...What are we in manpower now, around 9000? Does anybody really know?

The dirty little secret is the city is getting out of 55 and out next contract! Brother works in labor affairs if your retiring after oct 15 2017 poof it's gone! They will give old current contract approx 3 month extension for health care so don't play get paperwork in a month before date of 01Oct16 it takes 3 weeks for approval to be completed if not approved bye to health care! Rahm is getting the massive reductions in officers he wants when health care incentives are gone that's it!

Retired over four years ago, the above poster's words really choked me up.. This veteran is pushed out do the shit state of affairs of CPD and city. Guys 15 years ago use to talk and laugh about that they will be mandatory retired and staying to the last day. Now, all we hear is guys pulling the pin way before they wanted to leave and getting out of city and state.
The new democrats or this city, state and country have destroyed all common sense in governing.
This is so sad beyond words to the brother or sister above. God speed and may you live to 100 in excellent health.
This country needs a miracle.

To 7/02/2016 04:36:00 PM, the guy with the dirty little secret.

Your brother and you need to read section 28.2 of the current contract. It is called the "continuing effect". It states that the terms of the current contract until a new contract is ratified. The Memorandum of Understanding states that after June 1 2017 a person electing to retire under 55 and out will pay 2% of his annuity.
Those provisions create a window of time until a new ratfied contract takes this ones place. I agree that I would not drag my feet knowing that the city has a desire to get out of the healthcare business. With that language they are stuck in it until a new contract is ratified. That is an unknown period of time at this point. I cannot see it happening too fast with the huge changes to the contract that the city wants regarding various issues (discipline, healthcare, etc). There is a window beyon this contract. It is small but for some of the guys it gives them an opening to get out paying a reasonable amount for healthcare. After all,up until 1989, the city printed flyers stating that the city would provide FREE HEALTHCARE to retirees until they were Medicare eiligible. Good luck to everyone especially those that turn 55 after this contract expires and who some how sneak in under the wire.
