Classy Move Chelios

Wednesday, at the Cubs game, the singer for the 7th Inning Stretch was former Blackhawk defenseman Chris Chelios.

Before he sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," he took a moment to thank "the people who keep us safe every day - The Chicago Police."

And he got a very rousing cheer from the crowd.

Thanks Cheli

I love the ass hats saying Wrigley was very quiet when he said that. Bullshit, I have it on video. What he said got a very nice applause. Not quiet at all.

Unfortunately, (Hate to be Negative/Realist) with a trip to the ball game with your one kid costing well over $100 dollars, I have a feeling that the vast majority of those cop supporting Cubs fans are White Suburbanites. When the game ends, they will "flee" back to their White burbs and thank God that they do not have a Residency Requirement, or have to use Chicago Public Schools. Some parts of Chicago are still a great place to visit; but living in Chicago, under an incompetent Mayor, City Council, etc., well that is not what most Cub fans want. And on that Incompetency Point, just consider this for a moment: Where in the United States of America, other than Chicago, would people allow a Mayor to remain in Office with over 2,400 people shot, and over 400 homicides, as of 03 August? Where is the Accountability? What is wrong with Black Leadership, since most of the enumerated victims were Black! Is it "Democracy" when we have to live through another three years of a Midget's ego trip? This would not be tolerated in Wilmette or Kenilworth, Illinois. It is time to rise up and demand Real Change and means of Impeachment. Madigan is not King and Rahm needs to be gone. At some point, White People or Folks, are going to stop shopping on Mag Mile, and visiting Cubs games. We are just a couple of shootings on Lake Shore Drive or a dead tourist on Mag Mile, away from being Detroit. When was the last time anyone visited Detroit to shop or take in a game? Stay Fetal, F&%k Rahm's "Chicago Values" Baby"G"

Most of the people are from the suburbs and the north side. But I can't keep wondering if the tide is turning in our favor.

Chris was always a great guy! He owned the restaurant and bar next door but would come into "Ira's" and sign a bunch of his photos for anyone that wanted one! He always appreciated the Police and said it many times!

It was quiet because everyone was updating their Facebook status!

It's what they do. Don't be so butt hurt.

Thank God someone in this country is still sane. But I'm still not going to financially underwrite that scumbag Ricketts, though.

I'm a Sox fan. Thank you to Chris Chelios and Cubs fans for the support. They cheered after the comments by Cheli...it was refreshing. Thank you.

It was a nice and surprising reaction in todays upside down world, but look at the crowd. Most of the police haters were outside banging on buckets and wearing watch caps in 90 degree heat. Won't someone hug these lonely young men?

Thank you Chelios and to the many citizens who have expressed their gratitude in the last few months. Many people have gone out of their way to shake our hand and say thanks. We appreciate the acknowledgement, it really does mean a lot.

Yet another reason why the only sport I watch anymore is NHL games. All other sports athletes are down with the criminals, and half of them act like criminals.

I was in the Academy in 1994, and we used to go to Chelio's joint on Madison all the time; ALL THE TIME, Chris, Rownick(sp?) and a few other Hawks were NOTHING but cool to us. He always was friendly, cordial, and a perfect gentleman...even when he went to Detroit! Thanks for the friendship Chris!.
