Uptown Shooting Kills Senior
- Uptown logged its fourth homicide of the year when two people were shot in the 4500 block of N. Sheridan this afternoon.
A 58-year-old woman was shot in the chest and later died at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. A 58-year-old man also suffered at least one gunshot wound to the leg. He is expected to recover. The pair are the 22nd and 23rd persons shot in Uptown this year.
The woman listed a home address in the 4500 block of N. Broadway when she was arrested for shoplifting earlier this year, according to court records secured by CWBChicago. She is not believed to have been the intended target.
We're going to go out on a limb and agree with the CWBChicago blog assessment that a 58-year-old homeless woman and her companion weren't the intended targets. August is already averaging more than a homicide a day.

"Maybe some of us who actually live in this neighborhood ought to strongly consider exercising the legal rights provided under the Second Amendment. Trust me, after a couple of times, the word will travel like wild fire amongst all of those who otherwise think they can easily come into our neighborhood and commit the acts of crime that are regularly reported in this blog. People around here need to wake up and become proactive, or sadly, it will only get worse."
The idiot alderman cappleman does a typical democrats rant that we need to get rid of guns - how about having expectatations that people arm them selves. Better yet get rid of the fifty useless alder creatures and hire more police? Democrats create problems so they can keep their six figure salaries
Anything I attempt to write about that mentions CCW or self protection never gets posted to their site. Good blog, but limited interaction with their readers.
There are those of us in Wrigleyville who understand and follow the Second Amendment.

If you didn't submit the exact same copy/pasted comment 7 times in a row day after day, we wouldn't delete it.
It's not about the content, it's about your incessant over-submission of the exact same thing.

CWB is a good blog but is a little heavy on the moderation (sort of like here.) Give it a few more shootings and slowly introduce it. It certainly doesn't help when we don't have a gun range in the city and can't remove the "guns are bad if you want to use them to defend yourself with" stigma from people.
They'll get there, eventually.
Once again, the Wrigleyville / Lakeview/ Uptown area comes into the spotlight showing how dangerous this area has become. Someone recently had a dog taken from them late at night. You can't even walk a fucking dog ! And yes, you can be mugged near the Police station on Addison. That is now happening with regularity.

People are posting that the other victim who was shot was the intended target. Seems to be a black v hispanic gang war going on in Uptown at the moment. Uptown Update FB comments state that he was/is a documented banger. Bit old for that, but I've seen older guys who kept up their connections.
Third black v hispanic shooting in Uptown in last few weeks. The occasional black v hispanic gang shooting in Uptown isn't unusual, but three in a short period of time is. Normally it's black v black gangs as the hispanic gangs have dropped in numbers around here recently.
Also the locations are different than more recent black v hispanic stuff. Typically it's Latin Kings shooting someone around Irving Park and Broadway/Clarendon. This shooting was5 blocks north

I stopped going onto that website long ago. Certain viewpoints on certain subjects/demographics never get published. Their blog, their rules, I guess.

It all begins with the horrible leadership in that District. An all-merit everytime hack who is so worried to lose any spot he's ever been in. This coward has consistently thrown very good policemen, but even better people, under the bus because he's threatened by smarts because he has zero. Shaky had 60+ tagging incidents along a major street in the District recorded under one RD because it's still a numbers game. A completely over promoted lackey.

100% right. The gangs in Uptown are selling to folks (or people) from the various homeless shelters and SRO's. How much dope could a guy staying at Wilson Mens Hotel really buy? Half the $hit is drywall and dope fiends ripping each other off.
Commander and Captain both way over promoted in 019. Captain is. BRUTAL. He will step on every officer in his command on his way to that gold star. A true company man to the core.
While they both suck the only ones to blame are the aldermen and mayor who rubber stamped a shit sandwich to their residents by merging districts. This is the one and only reason it's out of control. There is no way to cover that big of an area with the amount of garbage in it with the manpower at hand. So crime will continue to skyrocket . Robberies and burg lies are through the roof. Shootings are doubling . The lakefront is gone completely. It's dam shame. The Tact teams are a joke monitored by sgts with 3 months with the chevrons. My as has more time on the crapper them their new chevrons have miles. If I was a citizen I'd be marching in the Aldermans office and straight down to the mayors office.
