Hey Look - Suspensions

This came out earlier this month and slipped through the cracks:
  • Fourteen Chicago Police officers have been cited for failure to record audio and video or for misuse of equipment since the first of the year.

Internal Affairs records, released to NBC5 through a public records request, detail the allegations which call for penalties ranging from reprimands and suspensions.

[...] In addition, from January until the end of June, five officers have received one-day suspensions, while seven officers have been reprimanded.
The first two officers mentioned got 15 days each and are named in the original report, but the FOP has said all the suspensions are being looked at.

this is how it starts!!! "i cant wait until we get the cameras because it will show the world how these people act up"....nope. Same with the in-car camera, only there to jam a copper not to help you. Forgot to turn it on?? you must be hiding something. Try talking back to a dope boy on the shooting scene or raising your voice on a domestic, automatic sustained verbal beef. No wonder everyone looks down on patrol, look at the bullshit we have to put up with..

Rahm Emanuel sent Law & Order out of Town. Rahm should leave Town now. He is a disgrace!!! And he surely does not know how to run a Police Department let alone a City. Rahm is a threat to our City's best interest and he cam't take the hint.

The fact is most citizens, and liberals in particular, do not realize that being the police in a tough urban environment is not a gentleman's business. There is no need to be rude to everyone or abuse everyone, but sometimes you must get tough and it does not play well on a video burst posted on youtube. People want the police to tamp down crime and put these animals away, but they do not want to know the details. It takes aggressive policing to keep the lid on things and you are only keeping the lid on not solving the problem. Aggressive policing is dead ( that is a pun) in this town for a generation at least and will be until the body count finally gets to be too much for people. Blame the democratic party, blame the black legislators who do not have the guts to do what is right. All you hear these days is the cry of police brutality and police killing black youth. The blame goes on the police instead of tackling the real problem.

Really? Try working on the south or west side of Chicago. When you on-view shots fired or man with a gun runs right in front of you, let's see how well-disciplined you are. What a little bitch. Then again, those days are done. I'll be the most professional, least effective officer, just like the city/citizens want.

You get it back when the suspension is reversed. Sometimes, it takes months, but they restore your time/money.

You cut off the head of the snake and all the way down, you have elected democratic clowns that do absolutely nothing but collect you checks! When you look in your mirrors your looking at chumps and that is what the elected have done to you!

Are we technicians/PO's now because 70% of the time these fucken in car cameras and mikes don't work or stop working before you're tour of duty is done and the camera in the squad doesn't tell you jack shit, I'm not going to go step by step but I Know how the camera system works. How many times you go out there and you test these gadgets at the start of the tour and everything is peachy, to find out at the end of the tour that either you're mike or the camera was not working properly or not working at all. Most of these fucking bosses/puppets don't have a clue as to how these in car camera systems work, hell when it comes to this type of technology bosses are clueless because they policed in another era using pen and paper anyhow I'm getting of the subject. In a perfect world these technological wonders would work flawlessly but we don't live in a perfect world, so that being said how do you hold accountable a PO for failing to record audio/video every second. All these guys unfortunately getting railroaded all they got to do is get a good lawyer and sue the shit out of the city because more than half of the technological wonders this fucking city provides doesn't work properly or don't work at all and to get them fixed or replaced good luck. Oh and don't forget to down a car just because some sort of glitch is not working, I'm sure the puppets er bosses will like that one.
Fuck this job and city stay fetal and god bless / Blue Lives Matter, didn't say white shirts......

I won't be supportive of you if you intentionally break things, but if things are broken or malfunctioned, then you need to document the hell out of it because IF something happens and you're blamed for a malfunction - if you can show that you got it this way, then it'll help in a big way. To me, this is the stuff your union should be having you document because it gives them leverage.

Many times it doesn't get reversed and come retirement time you make up for the days you were suspended.
So stop the fantasy bullshit talk.

I agree, hundreds of thousands of police officers throughout the country in smaller departments do it everyday. They have had cameras for years. They act and look professional. For some reason CPD thinks that we are special. We are all "tough street cops" who get down to business. Listen, those days are gone. The stories we all tell about hearing from cops from the 60s and 70s how things got done are gone. They are part of the reason why we are in the place we are. The knock em around attitude and tough guy beat everyone if they talk back mentality doesnt work anymore and it has all come to a head. We of the current cpd are paying for all the sins of the long retired. They caused this over decades of "policing" and now we pay for it. This wont be a popular statement I just made but its true. I respect the older retired guys, they got business done and they knew not to screw with the police but its a different age now and guys try to do what the old timers did and you cant. Its dead. Everything now has to be wanted offenders, alerts or traffic related. Act as if you are always wearing a body camera therefore it wont be such a shock when you get one.
