Marching Orders (UPDATE)

Supposedly, the World Series Order is rolling or has rolled out tonight. It's supposed to be huge and as bad an any rumor we've heard this week.

We'll get a copy from somewhere today and see what it all means. But canceling days off ALL weekend (when the Cubs can't win anything) and disrupting Halloween (when the Cubs aren't even playing and the kids have Trick-or-Treating plans), seems needlessly disruptive.

Instead of approaching this intelligently, the non-leadership seems determined to fuck-up as many plans as possible while spending, literally, millions of taxpayer dollars.

UPDATE: Just from reading the first sections, it isn't quite as bad as thought. Someone thought through the start times and went with 0800/2000 and 0900/2100. Canceling Friday though? A lot of coppers had plans, even tickets.

UPDATE: As you might suspect, posting for the duration of the World Series will be slightly off of our regular schedule. Same with comment moderation. But again, you might not notice seeing as how your reading should be off slightly - unless you're retired or just someone wandering through. We'll do our best.

I couldn't agree more. Our lives and plans mean absolutely nothing to them. Days where they can't even clinch cancelling everyone's day off and having the whole 3rd watch down there is just dumb and a total waste of money and manpower. And the start time of 12:30?? For a 7:08 game? That's pretty much just downtown fucking with us. Who thinks this stuff up?

What's the point of wasting taxpayer money just to have us sitting on buses with nothing to do for a non-clinching game? I have RDO's with a personal day and planned my out of town trip for months. 1st, the brass didn't realize how important clinching the penant would mean to cubs fans (unbelievable if you've spent anytime in this city). Then, they realized how sweet a target the world series would be to assorted terrorists. Hopefully they figure out this is Halloween weekend and a lot of people attending will try to show up in costume. And for goodness sakes, please have the red line bypass Addison as the vultures will be sweeping in

If you in DOG 63 (2nd) or 64 (1st), there's a chance of working 10 straight 12 hour days in a beat car. A crap district, 12 hours of answering domestics is bad. Now times that by 10. The city is setting itself up for increased CRs and, hopefully not, poor decisions, based on pure exhaustion. I know the city doesn't care cause the blue shirt is roadway for Rahm's bus, but still, life or death situations handled by an exhausted cop could lead to bad results. A human can only do so much but Eddie and Rahm don't care. Shows how out of touch Eddie is. Eddie hasn't been a cop in 15 years. So fellow PO's, please be careful. Enjoy your quick time at home. Yeah, I'm fairly bright. Not sure where you got 'promotions' out of my response, though.
If the city is so stupid to separate them for the camera lens not being pointed perfectly, the city is going to lose the lawsuits they are sure to file. But, we'll see who's right in about a year, sunshine.

10/25/2016 10:22:00 PM
The city can and has fired people for very bad reasons. Once you are separated, you are no longer a member of the bargaining unit and cannot file a grievance. You must file suit in circuit court and that is a very hard venue to win an employment suit in. It seems the judges give the edge to the employer. Just hope the police board has more sense, but the resulting suspension can be very long.

10/26/2016 10:14:00 AM

_______________________

Special Order SO3-05 states on the first page that officers are subject to discipline, "up to and including termination," for not properly using the camera.

On a separate page, the order states that officers will ensure that the cameras are properly positioned to to record transports and traffic stops.

Additionally, I am sure that the department has records relating to which officers received training on the camera equipment.

This is more than firing someone for "just anything."

You guys are not too bright.

I cannot comment on every police issue as a non police troll reader but before you all do the smack down on Ed, you may consider this.

It would not be surprising that any plans or manpower deployment does not necessarily originate within the command structure of the CPD. My thought is that it is a somewhat mutual decision that must include and be signed off by the brain trust in the Mayors Office.
Ed and his deputies share the command of the department with Rahm and his staff of idiots which of course is part of the problem.

I just hope every thing goes well with minimal property damage and no serious injuries to anyone including to the horses.

That I can agree with. Remember the little training we had, if something worse remember be careful of a secondary explosion, secondary shooter don't rush in, distance, observe, eyes all over, head on swivel. make sure you weapon is clean, unload and reload your clips (this is to help decompress springs should be done monthy), little oil, fresh ammo.

Observe everyone, body target look at people head to toe, as police we have an instinct to know when things don't seem correct use that instinct protect Blue. Make sure you carry an extra radio battery as we know the system is junk, don't rely on the pathetic gold star kids, rely on each other. Eric Carter and Henny Penny have proven to be terrible choices to run anything. Two more examples of promotions made to appease a voting block for the Mayor. The feds weren't even contacted. There was NO plan for clinching the pennant. NONE! That is incredible.

Georgas is being brought in to run the World Series. How embarrassing to the Superintendent and the crew that pushed him aside and then couldn't do the job. The egg is on their face now, not the brim of their hats.

Never in the history if this Department has a more inept team been assembled in the Exempt ranks. Two, three and more merit promotions are the norm in these ranks. Name an Exempt running things that has not had at least one merit bump. You cannot. They are incompetent and that is dangerous for the taxpayers.

2 things from 35th street:
ALL overtime being paid for by Major League Baseball. They advanced a check to the city.
Second, DC EC of special functions told to sit this one out. The job is over his head. DC SG was asked to come back to special functions so the job would be done correctly. SG is the only guy who has the knowledge and experience to get the job done. Even Eddie knows he can't count on his Noble buddies. They are simply in over their heads. That is why 35th Street is so messed up right now. All the entitled friends of Eddie feel they don't have to do any work because they are "Friends with the Supe." This is the truth and a very sad reflection of the Department.

People will bitch and moan. Once again cry about how poorly the city treats its police. Talk shit on how they're going to "get even" or get over on the city to make up for being fucked over. You'll show them, won'tcha?!?! You're gonna take the cash option to drive home the point of just how fiscally irresponsible this whole shindig really is.

Well guess what? Rahm doesn't give a fuck. The Bossholes don't give a fuck. And the citizens of this fair city don't give a fuck - especially Cubs fans. They're all in their own little fantasyland, living in the moment for something that has ZERO impact on 99.9999999% of their lives. And you will be there with them on what was supposed to be your days off, babysitting irresponsible fans that jumped aboard the Cubs Bandwagon and who might feel the urge to act like assholes as well as ne'er-do-wells that made the trek to Wrigleyville from the south and west sides for reasons other than jovial celebration.

And here's my prediction, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the World Series (because I couldn't care less who wins)...

You whiny little crybabies will still go out there and jump thru hoops, creating all kinds of activity/revenue generation as soon the El Tee says s/he is down _______________.

So put up or shut up. Not saying that what they do to us is in any way acceptable, but you're (at least in theory) supposed to be an adult when you're old enough to be the police. Deal with the last minute notifications. Handle your babysitting issues. Reschedule that weekend getaway or romantic dinner with the missus. And then beat the city twice as bad when the opportunity presents itself.

Finally... you folks need to start looking at the bigger pictures and the endgame: start worrying about self-preservation in this anti-law enforcement climate, the dismal state of our pension and both retiree and current employee healthcare. Oh yeah, almost forgot. There's that little election thingy happening on 08 November. One of the most pivotal elections that most of us will ever be alive for. What's that you say? The Cubs' DH is back in the lineup? Great!!! That's all that really matters!

I am hoping that there is a real reason for this apparent stupidity.

Maybe there is a possible terrorist attack planned for sometime around this weekend?
Maybe the gangs are talking up aplanned early Christmas shopping spree? A Free for Blacks Friday?
Maybe they are practicing for some riots caused by LaRaza or BLM after the election results are known?
Maybe they realized just how clueless the leadership is, and they realized they need some large scale practice, sort of like the disastrous Army Maneuvers of 1940?

Most likely it is just the stupidity of the Merit Promoted, Clouted Clowns.
Chicago Police Department's Finest (Political) Leadership.
Democrats can and will fcuk up a beer bash in a brewery.
Just look at Iraq, Yemen, and Libya! They are the Hillary Clinton SOS Success Stories.

First off the west side and south side mutts don't give a rats ass about the Cubs. Some may filter into wrigleyville but they are opportunist by nature. Yes extra manpower should be available for terrorist attacks, however, this wayyyyyy overboard. A good portion of crowd will be neighborhood residents and are not about burning their shit down. Yea, you may have a few doctors or accountants that can't handle their beer and act the fool but it's no reason for this cluster fuck. Oh, and there will be numerous arrests for public indecency because of the public fornication that'll be happening (not a bad thing).

Preventing terrorist attacks is the real reason. Lots of people will be near Wrigley and it's a good target for ISIS. Better to have more police around to deter possible attacks. Only takes a few ISIS guys with Ak's to kill potentially hundreds. Our days off have always been subject to cancellation. Enjoy the money and quit whining.

This city and country does not give 2 shits about preventing anything or public safety for that matter. If they did, we wouldn't be importing third world American-hating flag burning refugees by the thousands, manpower would not be dangerously low, these low life thug bottom feeding criminals would not be martyred and canonized into saint-hood, and law enforcement would never have become pariahs. They can keep the fucking money - I'd rather enjoy my time off with family and friends who love and appreciate me instead of playing referee/babysitter for a bunch of savages and getting dirty looks from liberal asshats who salivate in anticipation of being the next big cellphone hero capturing the latest controversial "gotcha" moment with their smartphone cams.

And, where exactly is this money coming from?? I thought the city was broke?

Good question. I predict the finance department will make an "accounting error" concerning the overtime to be paid, and shortchange everyone's paycheck. Then, when someone catches this "mistake", they will pay the correct amount after funds have been made available through some creative bookkeeping. The city is worse than a gypsy merchant in a moroccan bazar.

No. not in most districts. Problem is you have bid people on the desk on all three watches. How can you do 1st and 2nd watch desk 12 hours and throw the 3rd watch bid people on the street. If you did all three watches 12 hr that would be 36 hours or 12 hours of overlap

About the threat of an ISIS attack during the World Series or anywhere else at this time, especially in Chicago.

Possible but doubtful.

Reasons: This is still Obama's home town and they do not want to attack the turf of their greatest ally in American government. BHO may do some great things for the enemy in his last days like empty Gitmo and they would not want to jeopardize that possibility.

An ISIS attack anywhere on American soil before Election Day would cause an instant voter backlash that could put Trump over the top.

Stay Safe. As I wrote an attack is doubtful but not impossible.

I'd like to think that if the Democrats' paid Creamer Violence Squad stays in barracks, all we will need would be maybe crossing guards on 12-hour shifts, but what if there is an infantile BLM-style reaction on a larger scale? After all, they've spent so much time demonizing Trump.

Something to keep in mind -- "Room To Destroy." Any excuse to get out there and loot 30 pharmacies (as in Baltimore) is a good one.

Of course I'm sure Chicago hasn't planned for this contingency...
