I always try to help out police and their families. As long as there isn't a third party involved. It's between you and them. We still have discretion, however once they are involved in an accident and a third party is involved you lose that discretion. As long as the officers family treat me with respect, courtesy will be extended. Over the years I have looked out for coppers and their families, and the favor has been returned. Be safe.

I agree with you in principle on the illegality of it being a sticking point in my perspective. If that's the crux of most people's problems with his steroid use (it's so obvious that he has used them, I don't even bother using the "alleged" qualifier), then I suppose I can see the point. And I agree it's not good to teach kids to do things that are destructive to their bodies, much less illegal.
Just asking. What would the 10/11, 7/8 Districts citizens feel about the National Guard or U.S. Army taking over?? I bet it would stop the homicides 80%. The community would be enraged but it would show results. Post Hurricane Katrina, National Guard troops enforced law and order.

Funny story....
In a galaxy far, far away, a western suburbs lodge president was in a place he shouldn't have been, at a time he had no business being there. On leaving the residence, he was drunk and crashed head on into a citizen's car; some average joe coming home after a hard days work, totaling the guys car and injuring him. He immediately called his buddies, both from the jurisdictional agency and his home dept. He also lit up the poor Joe becoming offensive and threatening him.
By the time we came on scene, the Sgt on scene mumbled "everything's fine" and got back into his car for traffic control. At the same time we observed a van pulling away with a shoeless guy, disappearing at a high rate of speed down the street, conveniently blocked by the aforementioned Sgt. Heading back to the offenders vehicle, we found not only his shoes and open alcohol but his satchel with his name on it and all of his union books and paperwork. It was great fun pulling it out on the hood and going through it with all of PD watching. Nobody had the balls to say anything.
Moral of the story is, professional courtesy is one thing. But when you are a douche and hurt other people, nothing should protect you. Regardless of your pull.
I hope that dickhole reads this and squirms in his seat. Or at least someone who knows this k9 officer, (iirc) lodge president. The short amount of time he got off, after pushing, should have been him answering to his wife and family and losing his job....But like the above, some spineless people were in charge that day...
No surprise here. Always was a double standard with certain groups. Like it or not....ain't nothin gonna happen. I'm all for helping police officer's family as I would hope the same courtesy would be offered if my family member needed it. Ok, here's what REALLY happened.... the kids was minding his own business when he saw the police behind him. He didn't see that stop sign, and went through it. Then, he panicked, because he's afraid of the police, so he hit the gas. Those bad, bad policemen started chasing him! When they got him out of the car, they ran him, only to discover that the SOS made a mistake in suspending his license, which he took care of, last week. Those big, bad policemen then planted that weed in the car, 'cuz he "don't do that stuff". Long story short (too late!), the two coppers didn't do a blue card, were stripped for initiating a chase for traffic only, and were sent to callback, because Special Ed found this situation "concerning". The kid will be in the next recruit class and his merit sgt spot has already been approved.
Ridiculous.
Where is IAD? Who's in charge of IAD? What happen to criminal Sgt in IAD , did he get locked up yet?

Daughter of the grand crossing district called in a fake assault because she was denied entry into her school for being tardy. She decided to stop by a corner store on the way to school. Same commander comes into roll call next morning and tells everyone not to even think about putting in for merit detective. So no this story does not surprise me.
If true, the Lt. committed a felony. Official Misconduct. Now the scary part, everyone who has knowledge of this has a duty to report the Lt, as it's a crime. P.O.s better have notified a Supervisor or your taking time. Supervisors will get hit hard just like the CFD DUI and the DSS stands a chance to lose their job. It's not how many POs assigned to 016, it's the quality. Handful of good ones, the rest are lazy scared useless POS. That's why you and everyone else never sees a car, hiding in their hole doing as little as possible. Getting them to do their job would take an act of God.

Had this happen to me years ago I turned around the next day and went to traffic court and spoke to an Asa and typed up a warrant for the connected and located him and locked him up. Daddy was notified an did not udder a word. He was told he would be next by the Asa office for interfering with arrest. Sonny went to court and plead guilty. Not a word from daddy or anyother boss.

Not even a handful. Most of the cop's I've met since I moved from 19 to 16 are KMA and spend their days writing parkers up around Bryn Mawr and Cumberland or on the Neighbors that live behind the District building for stuff they have to google the ordinance number for info about.
The Firefighter that lived on Long by Foster is actually sick of the 16th District cops Trolling the passenger vehicles for compliance violations when you got a boat load of Contractor vehicles you could be nailing for 9-64-170A and B and D under the Commercial Vehicle Ban.

Why do people conflate Guard aid, back up, technology, gear and WEAPONS, with "taking over"? Why do they LIE this way? You guys are being baited into the bad PR thinking this is internal arguing, when it is VERY very public with the public watching!
Only when the gang leaders, the BUSINESSMEN, are disallowed their ability to do business of the monetary variety will they start to patrol their own, ending all the doing dirt we witness now as endless murders. Another murder? Another five blocks with bodies on all four corners. Period.

Had a former MP in the academy as an instructor and he flat out said it's not the same thing. One of my classmates got butt hurt bc he was an MP in the 82nd and he was still mumbling under his breath it is the same...lol. I don't give MPs and gate guards any problems but no...it's not the same job. I don't know one cop that's reserve or guard that thinks its the same. It aint. And them on the streets would be a mess.

Nothing is going to come of this so-called investigation into ticket fixing. Officers use discretion all the time on misdemeanor traffic offenses. If any of you have ever hauled in a copper's or fireman's kid (or even a State's attorney's), you have very likely cut breaks to those kids yourself, or had a conversation with the desk sgt. or watch commander, who then brokered the deal with your cooperation at their insistence. I know that I've seen many an officer over many years arrive at district stations and retrieve their wayward driving child (teen and adult alike). Happens all the time, and will continue to occur.
At least in this case, nothing appears to have been fabricated, as it was with the Koschman case.
