The response of an Hispanic alderman to the offer of help from the President says it all. The alderman said that the President's plan just means he wants to lock up more black and brown bodies. That and the position of Preckwinkle and other progressives that the police are the problem and way too many blacks are in jail for nonsense ( she claimed cops are putting blacks and browns in county jail for a few joints and for gambling, yes, nonsense and she knows it, but I heard her say it), and the belief that " hyper-policing" is the cause of the crime wave, does not bode well for the future of Chicago. I don't see how this can get turned around anytime soon, probably not for a generation. You have a leadership in this town that is largely anti-police and has generated a cloud over the cops which will stop them from actively seeking criminals on the streets. Blatant shootings at all hours of the day and night, a violent crime arrest rate that is dismal and emboldening for criminals, cops afraid to stop people on the street for fear of their jobs and financial future, black legislatures refusing to toughen laws because it would mean more blacks and browns in prison. Why, yes you fools. Look at who is causing just about all of the violent crime in this town. Economic help for inner cities? Yes, that is also needed, but that is a long term solution. Absent an overnight change in the attitudes of way too many in the inner city, things are going to get worse, much worse.

Then maybe invest some money in the forensic unit Technology and equipment so maybe we could solve some of these murders with evidence. Then maybe purchase some proper police vehicles rather then going through enterprise and renting vehicles for the detective division. Maybe you could fund a special unit that can be used across the city where crime is being committed. You know give it some fancy name with a three character like the old SOS, TRU or MSF. I got one how about WTF? This time try using some supervisors who actually passed a test and aren't some merit hacks to run the unit properly with some accountability. You know qualified people that follow general orders know right from wrong, don't cut any corners. No that might actually work why would you do that. Just give millions to do nothing organizations that say they will train minority youth for jobs and Cease Fire to waste more tax payer money.

While I hate Rahm, and maybe this is directed at him, the Presidents comments hurt all of us. I would love to see more Federal prosecutions and IRS investigation of these gangbangers. Wouldn't it be great to Al Capone on their ass and throw them in a Federal Penitentiary, which they hate, cause thy haven't paid taxes? Wouldn't it be great to Federally prosecute these mutts? Chicago/Cook County/Illinois are too lenient on gun crimes. Front page article in the local paper had story where the judge sentenced a man to 48 years in prison for pointing a gun and then shooting at a law enforcement officer. Won't even be eligible for parole for 16 years. Florida had the old 10-20-30 rule for gun crimes and it was repealed. Since then the judges have been even tougher--making the liberals heads explode. Tried to get my parents to move here when they finally threw in the towel and left Marquette Park. I live in a county with 1/13 the population of Chicago and so far this year no shootings, no knifings etc. Tough sentencing does keep the criminals at bay.

Police are NOT required to follow any order that they know to be a violation of the law. Prohibiting police from notifying ICE is patently illegal.

Instead of speculating, let's wait and see what he means.

For a start why don't you ask for federal funds to hire more officers. You know to maybe keep up with the rate of attrition. Then maybe invest some money in the forensic unit Technology and equipment so maybe we could solve some of these murders with evidence. Then maybe purchase some proper police vehicles rather then going through enterprise and renting vehicles for the detective division. Maybe you could fund a special unit that can be used across the city where crime is being committed. You know give it some fancy name with a three character like the old SOS, TRU or MSF. I got one how about WTF? This time try using some supervisors who actually passed a test and aren't some merit hacks to run the unit properly with some accountability. You know qualified people that follow general orders know right from wrong, don't cut any corners. No that might actually work why would you do that. It was so efficient that the Cook County Jail was in a constant state of overcrowding, the inmates slept on mattresses lining the hallways of the jail and the jail was assessed a daily penalty by the courts for the overcrowding issue.
Fast forward to 2017. The Cook County Jail System has closed down 3 Divisions, releases violent offenders back to the streets via electronic monitoring, with the promise that they will stay in their homes and not engage in any further criminal activity. A promise from a criminal is good enough for our Cook County Board president Preckwinkle and our Sheriff Tom Dart who believe too many men of color are being jailed despite the direct correlation of races who are committing criminal acts to those who are being jailed. I guess in their perverted world the jail population should directly reflect the population of the city even though 1 race dominates all others in committing crimes and being victims of crimes.
Additionally Preckwinkle, Dart and Emmanuel, being BIG Sanctuary City Proponents, will not hold anyone wanted for criminal Federal Law violations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement once they are scheduled for release from the Cook County Jail even though ICE has requested they be held. These Federal Criminals, many of them Illegal Immigrants, are then released back to the streets of Chicago bolstering the numbers of the criminals to prey on the citizens of Chicago.
I really can appreciate your assessment of the left wing press who maligns anything or anyone who stands for law and order. It is this very left wing press who has done the most harm to the City of Chicago by spreading many fake and false narratives by groups like BLM as well as the Peoples Law Office and the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism's wrongful conviction movement. The books are "Justice Perverted" and "Crooked City".

The ACLU then contacts the persons stopped and ask them was the officer condescending did the officer use inappropriate language or did you feel threatened by the officer? Of course these people all responded that the officer did all of the above and now the officer are facing discipline for doing their job. You couple the above facts with the fact that the testing and promotional process for the Chicago Police Department is as corrupt as the left wing media and you have a perfect storm for the Murder Capitol of the World. You should know that there is a very large percentage of police officers here in Chicago that long to restore the crime fighting reputation Chicago once enjoyed but are no longer willing to put their family and financial well-being on the line. It should be noted that an additional contributing factor was Mayor Rahm Emmanuel's program of doing more with less where he reduced the ranks of the Chicago Police Department by at least 1000 officers and now cannot hire officers fast enough just to keep up with the officers retiring, plunging the manpower shortage even further. Please make an example of the Sanctuary City of Chicago, drain the local swamp here and restore law and order for the good God fearing people who believe in the law of the land.

Say whatever you want about Trump but he has done more to highlight the murders and carnage in Chicago in 2 weeks than nobama has in the last 8 years. Democrats have created with the media this blissful image of a tolerant melting pot of protected immigrants. Protected politicians and high ranking police officials who are never disciplined and who make up the rules as they go. This same lack of discipline and disregard for the law not only corrupts the politicians and police officials but emboldens the criminal element to live by the law of the jungle. This message is carried by the media on a daily basis to brainwash the citizens of Chicago.

Great post just wondering how soon President Trump will send in the Calvary first to clean up city hall next to the streets with whatever is necessary tanks high powered weapons attack helicopters law and order like police work is not like television it's dirty gritty but definitely necessary especially in the shithole that the elected through pandering have allowed Chicago to become!

Its simple. Chicago politicians are treasonous criminals. They appoint people who will go along with their crimes. Think about it, A POLICE DEPT. that cheats on promotional exams. Then to fuck you over even more , they institute a merit promotional system ( that violates the expired shackman decree) to elevate even more inside , worthless clouted goofs and goofs kids.
