- A man whose drug-related prison sentence was commuted in November by President Barack Obama has been fatally shot at a federal halfway house in Michigan after two men with assault-style rifles sought him out, police said.
Two men wearing masks went into Bannum Place in Saginaw on Monday night with plans to kill 31-year-old Damarlon Thomas, a former Saginaw gang member. Lt. David Kaiser said Thomas was shot several times by one of the men as some of the roughly two dozen people at the home were held at gunpoint.
“One person watched over a group of them while another subject located the victim and executed him,” Kaiser told The Saginaw News. “They were looking for this person.”
Remember, this was one of the supposedly "non-violent drug offenders" who were unjustly incarcerated due to Bill Clinton's disparate sentencing:
- Thomas had been sentenced to 19 years in prison in 2008 on a cocaine charge, but with the commutation the sentence was to expire in March. He was arrested as part of “Operation Sunset,” a federal investigation that effectively dismantled the “Sunny Side Gang” in Saginaw.
A quick google search reveals the Sunny Side Gang involved in everything from drugs to guns to murder, dozens of murders throughout Saginaw. And while the worse year in Saginaw pales to a single bad month in Englewood or Harrison, a targeted hit like this is only a hint at the mayhem to come when old scores are settled up or someone decides he's going to put the old crew back together.

Can i just say WE did discuss the healthcare plan before we Voted on the contract. I for one voted no after reading the Tiered healthcare plan. You're an idiot. You don't get 19 years for being a former member of a gang. You also don't get arrested simply for being a member of a gang, abs especially for being a former member. You can't just "do a sweep" and end up with people being sentenced to 19 years. People are arrested for crimes. He got 19 years for drug charges.

I know a lot of cops. I don't know any who have ever referred to anyone as a "non-violent" drug offender. Why are we blaming everyone else for what? Blame for the offense goes to the offenders. Blame for them being released early goes to those who release them early. Blame for their deaths goes to those responsible for their deaths. In this case, Obama is partially responsible for this dumb criminal bastard's death. He was killed because he was released and became an easy target.

Talk of suing isn't as silly once analyzed. We have a convict still under Fed DOC control in a halfway house which he is mandated to be in residence. He can not leave unless under "supervision". There are no armed staff for either "prisoner" control or (in this case) outside aggression.
If there was a need to commute the sentence as Obama believed, He should have been released directly from the prison, not kept in the system. As such the system hold responsibility (in some degree) for his actions and in turn well-being.

It outraged me when I voted against it in the last contract! Some of the people, other than myself, that bothered to vote, decided that new vehicles, retro and a raise is more important than good healthcare and duty availability for new people! Just shows what assholes the city has hired. Maybe in the new negotiations the FOP could ask for a "me too" to get the same insurance that the mayor and aldermutts have? That may not work with the, fuck you, that won't affect me, I want retro, residency lifted, a merit promotion, and a big raise crowd.
