Free Houses!!!

  • A new proposal that will be introduced to the Cook County Board Monday would offer homes to City workers in what Commissioner Richard Boykin describes as "endangered communities."

Called the "Neighborhood Revitalization Act," Boykin's plan would offer a free home to first responders, police, fire fighters, teachers, and paramedics and EMTs in the communities where they work. If the worker agrees to live in the residence for five years, he or she will be given the property.

Boykin said the plan could help clean up and diversify Chicago communities in need on the South and West sides.

"These are the communities where weโ€™ve seen a lot of gun violence, weโ€™ve seen a lot unemployment and of course poverty. Weโ€™ve got to rebuild these communities," Boykin said. "If you have a policeman who lives on your block we believe that the chances for an individual dealing drugs go down, diminish greatly."
Sure, because this worked so well in the 1980's and 90's. Living on your own, no radio, no backup, your kids being pointed out as coming-and-going from "that cop's house." Your spouse, too. Not too many yard parties or barbecues on the 4th of July weekend in your future.

Why don't Cook County Commissioners or Aldercreatures ever live on these blocks?

I do not wish to live in those Gang, Drug, Crime infested communities...

Their neighborhoods will improve when their children are raised with a moral compass, and everyone begins to live by the "Rule of Law"...

So put down that chicken wing, and red pop. Get behind somebody other than a sports or rap star that really doesn't give a shit about your community. Don't make heroes out of Zero's like your local neighborhood thug who just committed a crime and took a few lumps from the police.

It's simple really...

You, your wife, kids and property are targeted and

want you to voluntarily throw you and yours into
into the social engineering stew pot that they've
took turns crapping in for the last 50 years?

Ok...
Suppose a Copper is actually stupid enough to
homestead in the "Badlands" in this current
anti-Police climate?

The only places POSSIBLY worth the aggravation
are in the 312 area code and these areas have
been locked-up/priced out of range for the last
25 years...

Anywhere else just isn't worth the headache.

And said Copper or one of their household
has cause to vigorously repel boarders
from the family ship?

>Dead/Dying/Injured assholes piled up
at the point of entry<

Your next worry is "The Community,"
the media, #wegrindtheaxeofgrievance,
the ACLU, IPRA/COPA and DOJ wanting
to lynch you and yours from the tree
on the front lawn.

They floated this stupid shit NOW
and for what reason?

Because Policemen are getting too
good at protecting themselves?

Hey assholes...
How about a healthy percentage
off our property taxes for right
where we've dropped anchor already?

Let the fictional horde of people Rahm
is always boasting are moving into
this town take up these homesteads
instead of setting up Policemen to
be targeted in these places.

Policemen are already a captive audience
in this town by design.

Protect yourselves from these bad and crazy people.
They propose NOTHING for your benefit and well being.

So the "house" or lot is free. You'll end up paying the same amount as if in a safer neighborhood if not more just to repair or rebuild on the property. Ballistic glass windows and steel doors/frames for every single room in the house (which won't stop them at all). Then you'll need a safe for everything before you go to work or out when rdo. Letting the dog out at night? Don't forget your battle buddy and the AR15, better take two bandoliers with you (home invasions are on the rise). Neighbors will hate you, get more CRs off duty than on duty. Grocery shopping? Get the bearcat. The only upshot is you'll never need to paint your fence, as long as you like the colors of the neighborhood gangs.

Free health insurance, meaning no contribution, for the life time of the First Responder living there.
Free of all property taxes for 10 years.
Free electrical and gas for 10 years.
Free water/sewer for 10 years.
Free home/garage security monitoring system tied in to 911 call center, including cameras!
Free city sticker for the life time of the First Responder living there.
Free home insulation.
Free primary and secondary tuition at the choosing of the homeowner, for the life time of the First Responder living there.
Free college tuition at any state run college, for the life time of First Responder living there.
Free smoke alarms and burglar bars on the doors and windows.

Yup with a package like that First Responders will be knocking door the doors to get a home.

Well, since the only people they seem to want to hire are from those neighborhoods- why not just make a house part of a "signing bonus" for minority alllicants.

Then there can be police on every block- and it won't even be "the man" that's been holding them down. It'll be the police the community wants!

Problem solved lol.
We should probably also give them cars while they are at it, so they can get to and from the job if we want to make it reeeeeally attractive to minority applicants!

It could work,

You would need to have about half the block, or more, all city worker houses. Surround them with a wall and limit the access to the compound, sort of like the castles and fortified towns of old. Better yet, two blocks and make the streets into a cul de sac. Think Fort Apache, Englewood.

In a few years, when Chicago gets Detroit level depopulated, it will be simple to accomplish. Detroit has blocks and blocks of empty lots, where neighborhoods used to be. It will be necessary, because you will have Detroit style response times from a depopulated police force too.

hopefully reversing the trend demographically. He is black and very good with his hands
so he planned to do all the work himself. Got the necessary permits and the first phase was
to replace the front and back doors with high quality security doors.

Spent a day replacing the front door and came back the next morning to replace the back door.

Surprise, surprise. The front door was gone, leaving a gaping hole and the back door he had left
in the kitchen had grown legs too.

WORDS; when properly used and said, and unsaid present and conceal ideas and concepts. 1. How many Billions of dollars have been spent on County Government, before some Moron came up with this Unoriginal Idea? Have we forgotten that when this was last tried it failed miserably, and some City workers actually were convicted of Fraud in Federal Court because they were not living on the properties. Instead they were profiting from the properties by renting them out to Section 8, or as it is now called affordable housing! 2. The "Concealed" issue here is RACE. All of these properties are in Black Neighborhoods, say it Clearly! So are we asking for a "Change" in these neighborhoods via Race? Remember, the word Change is used to describe a neighborhood turning Black. (Ex. It is a "Changing" neighborhood." vs."The neighborhood is being Gentrified.") 3. So, how about making the offer to a Specific North Side Resident? Rahm: move down South. Your kids won't have to be driven so far to go to Lab School. There are still a couple of synagogues near by, though now they are MB Churches, but what the hell, you'll be able to praise the Diversity of Faiths! Free Parking everywhere, because the Revenue people are afraid to work that area.
Then to Really Change the area, bring in some Sanctuary City Residents, from Central America! So when your daughters reach 17, instead of using that counselor your kid used, the one who can be reached at all hours of the day or night; your daughters can be planning what they will name their new babies. Maybe you can even deploy some of your Detail guys to try to identify "Da Baby Daddy"! Remember, Jane Byrne moved into Cabrini Green, for a couple of weeks! And she was not nearly as phony as YOU! (OT) county is broke ohh no look here more millions for politicians found:

Starting Monday, local governments and other public agencies in Cook County can apply for some of the $8.5 million available for new transportation-related projects.

The new program seeks projects that go beyond the county's traditional focus on roads to include pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and freight-related improvements, said John Yonan, county superintendent of transportation and highways. This is part of the county's new long-range transportation plan, which was announced last summer and is its first in 75 years.

Cook has the money because of a decision in 2015 to stop diverting motor fuel tax funds for other uses, which means this year it has $65 million for transportation projects, $45 million more than in 2016.

Most of the money will go to projects already in the county's five-year capital plan, but $8.5 million can be used for other ideas, Yonan said.

"This will give us a really good window on what kind of regional investments can be made to make a difference," he said.

The $8.5 million will include costs for planning, engineering, right-of-way acquisition and construction. The county also said it will provide technical and grant-writing assistance to help communities tap other funding sources, like federal grants. In addition to governments and public agencies, private for-profit or nonprofit groups can submit proposals, but they must have a public sponsor.

The deadline to apply is March 17.

A few years ago they burned down the house of a gay white couple who moved into a house around Pulaski and Wilcox in 011. They threw about 50 grand into the house, nice remodel, new windows and doors, hot tub in the yard, etc, a real yuppie modification in the heart of the ghetto. BUT! They installed security cameras. That's it, security cameras. So the rats burned them out. Literally burned the house to the ground. It was a raging inferno fueled by multiple gallons of gasoline. Funny though, the security cameras the neighbor had hidden in the windows of his house were never noticed. Great footage too. But, that didn't save the yuppie investment. Trying to pioneer a house, a block, or a community, well we aren't that society anymore. You can only tame the jungle when you eradicate the predator species.

The aldermen really believe that the city will improve with a police officer or firefighter living on every block. That is why we will NEVER see the residency requirements lifted. There is no motivation to make that decision. The union will have major issues to fight over with the new contract and residency is very low on the list. Ex-squeeze me all-knowing commissioner Boykin but That!...is problem number one. And its got nothing to do with the 'at risk children', aka: Juvenile Delinquents, so don't even start with the racism nonsense ya Leftist Trolls. The sad fact is that today's 'youth', aka Teens thru 35(LOL), don't know which end of a Screwdriver to use, let alone the tools required to build a house, or the smarts to properly read Blueprints -- you don't learn how overnight.

Not to mention they're pretty much a bunch of lazy, out-of-shape slugs who get winded playing Call Of Duty on their Play Station and who are not exactly known for FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS or TAKING ADVICE; "Do we really need to put all those nails in that piece of wood? One seems to hold it in place pretyt good. And what's with that 'big wood' over the door and window openings? A 2x4 should work just fine."

So forget about all the obvious problem issues after moving in like Burglaries, Vandalism, Auto Theft, or Assaults. Oh...and Bullet Holes in your windows. You won't be able to move into the house in the first place because after the first 30 MPH 'windstorm' the f--king house will just fall down.

So mr Boykin, you might want to rethink this stupid idea of yours.

(ps: back in the 'stone age' this wasn't an issue. Kids learned to properly use tools by helping dad, working on their car, or in Shop Classes in High School (what asshole got rid of those?))

How many that retired in 2016 reading this, retired because we would be AVOIDING the Tier 1 and Tier 2 medical coverage that was offered in writing.

When I called City of Chicago Benefits section they told me I was entitled to the same coverage the active members were entitled to. I said that's wrong! I am entitled to the same coverage that I retired under. That's what I agreed to.

I then stated.... If you don't change my coverage back, then you owe me for Vacation, Baby Furlo, and Pdays for 2017. I took the package for 2016 with the understanding that I would NOT be part of the Tier 1 and 2 insurance. So cut me a check.

If you are upset and annoyed by this call me. Greg Giuliani 773 750 6646 We need to get this changed.

I did call FOP... They stated they were unaware?

Let me just say I'm in if armed drones would be over head 24/7, satellite surveillance, AR-15 or equivalent, security service connected to CPD and private security, home built with bullet proof materials, general order exemption so your able to shoot burglary suspects and your not striped, and a 50 yard trespassing law enacted; then and maybe then I would consider.

Here's a true story, more than 20 years ago arrested a juvenile for pot, lived on the next block, was a junior in LKN at the time, warned the kid to not interfere in my life or family. Within 5 years he had moved up in gang and committed a murder of a rival about a mile from my house. Spotted him and his mother at the bank 2 days after the murder withdrawing money so he could flee to the border states and hideout. We arrested him and got him charged, he walked at trial when the witness refused to come to court and was arrested on a bench warrant.

Now the family has moved a little further away but still on the beat and the junior is now calling it for wanna be's and servers.

Time moves on and I no longer work in the home district and the punk moves up when the new "el hefe" gets released from his 6 years that I testified to on a 8oz delivery.

The "feds" indict the LKN of the southeast side & nw Indiana and the former neighbor gets his on murder conspiracy charge, along with the hefe.

So the bottom line is that you don't have to move into the ghetto, it's coming to you, right under your nose, right on your block, your Parrish, your grocery store, your kids school, even the little league field.

For me, I retired into an obscure country life, make that your plan not falling into some trap by a "wanna save my ass at your expense politician".

One copper in the district should buy the biggest house with attached garage available there, then have steel plate siding installed. Fence the lot and then put in claymore mines in instead of grass. Then turn one one room into a command and control center to activate the laser guided gun turrets. Make every other room into an additional bedroom with a storage place for the wedding gown. Then, rent out the rooms to other members of the district with the same RDOs for a nominal monthly fee. Then, you can carpool from DuPage county [where your family resides] to the district. You could take turns manning the bunker.

Sheeeeet!!!!! Even Ray Charles can see through this bad idea! Problem 1 - you want tax paying hard working officers to reside in the middle of welfare scamming drug dealing gang worshiping low lives who HATE the police. Problem 2 - you have a racially and politically motivated municipal government that demonizes law enforcement and actively seeks to destroy the policeman's credibility and reputation in any given scenario in which his hand has been forced to take action. Thanks to the last eight years of the former community organizer in chief and all the inner city dems who orchestrated the urban shit ponds that now exist across the country, this little plan would never work anyway. Because of their joyful hating and anti-law propaganda parade, the professional criminals responsible for all the urban decay do not fear police presence, off or on duty. It has been made repeatedly clear that thugs will be martyred and excused while everyone else is blamed for their problems.

This is a very dangerous thing. Obviously for the actual city people- Police, Fire and their families at face value, but on a completely different level no one has touched upon- the level of "us and them". I can think of no bigger slap in the face to the struggling public than a very well paid government employee- regardless of what department or job- a government employee who is paid much better than the average Joe on either side of them (some of which even go on strike every couple of years because their extremely high pay grade is not enough...cps)getting a free house on the tax dime people are already having a hard time coming up with without paying for some city hack house too. No mortgage, great benefits and a job that pays well at the expense of all the non-government employees? Talk about creating a divide. Lumps people together in a very bad light. Far from trust building. Just the opposite.

Not a cop, just a teacher.

I thought this sounded like a good idea. In St. Louis, police had residency requirements, and I disagree with that, but this is just an option.

I'd like a free house. Most teachers make way less money than most police, so my options for buying a house in the city of Chicago are really limited, more or less, to these same neighborhoods. I had this vision that if lots of us (teachers and police) bought in, we could take over a few blocks and really change the character of the neighborhood. Southsiders know that there are those pockets of South Shore with mini-mansions and upwardly mobile families, and it seemed like this would be a good way to make that happen. Sure, we would have to stay on the construction project and demand the best of these homes, but with the weight that the police force brings, people would take these demands seriously. I think teachers and police bring a good balance to a neighborhood. We could carve out great communities - whatever the intention of the city is -- we could make the best of this and win with this plan.

I get where you all are coming from. I guess I was just way more optimistic about it...

1/24/2017 06:42:00 AM

to Tim Allen from a citizen reader: I have an idea you may embrace. Let the police live where they want. Thats right, no more residency restriction. Rather than debate stupid and ignorant ideas like trapping THEM in those shitty neighborhoods, let them live in freedom, in civilized society where they can live with decent people.

If they spend more time among regular people who embrace advanced society, their morale will improve. Maybe they will return to being appalled at what is normal in minority neighborhoods. This may reverse the low morale which can only lead to more positive policing.

Can you imagine spending at least a third of your life where raping, robbing, cutting, shooting, stealing and all the rest of the insanity is just normal behavior? Then you have expectations that the police are going to solve those problems? No, they are going to become absorbed in those problems. Liberal thinking has really created as mess has it not?

You must do your job perfectly ever time without ever making a mistake and don't shoot at anyone until they shoot at you first. Now it's hey move your family into a gang infested neighborhood where no one takes responsibility for themselves their property or their family and teach people to be better citizens and hay we'll give you what $5,000.00. The city of Chicago cannot require car rental businesses located outside city limits to collect city taxes on rental cars leased by Chicago city residents, the Illinois Supreme Court has ruled, striking down as unconstitutional a city ordinance seeking to slap a tax on cars rented within three miles of Chicago city limits.

A few years ago a construction company hired three of us for security while rehabbing buildings on the west end of 011. After two weeks of chasing these little assholes in the hood and during the night break-ins, the contracting company packed up and abandoned the rehab. The point, three armed security officers unable to stop the thefts and harassment and the city wants me to move my family and kids into a hell hole, excuse me but fuck you.

Here's a better plan, leave chicago. Don't get stuck with this idea of only living in the same neighborhood. There are plenty of departments across the country that are well run and you can live where you want.

Like Barrack Obama said , it is time for every citizen to get involved .
FOP , PBPA Print out petitions to be distributed to reduce the number of Alderman from 50 to 12 , we almost did it about 10 years ago . we can get it done with the help of the other city unions , CFD and our neighbors . Get it done for the next election . Remember it's for the Children . Maybe the 12 Alderman that are elected will have some testicular fortitude to challenge TuTu the ballerina dancer

To do this requires an unbelievable amount of naivety or a stone death wish. Move into an area with a high concentration of urban bangers, drug dealers and the like? Even more naive is believing that a few actual citizens is the neighborhood are going to turn the shit ship around? Don't think so. Case in point, moved from Chicago 6 years ago to a mid sized city into a nice middle class neighborhood. Hoverer, in this eden of bliss a serpent occasionally appears in the form of a section 8 house rental. There are maybe, at any one time, four or five in a surrounding neighborhood of several hundred homes. So, not a very large concentration. Moreover, not all are occupied at the same time since it usually takes the brain dead owner, or owners about 6 months to a year to gut the place and shovel out the garbage, fumigate, replace walls, fixtures and whatever else is stolen. Back to the point of this discussion, every time a new "family" crawls in, petty theft, burglary and assaults in the surrounding neighborhoods goes from zero to several occurrences a week. This goes on for about 6 months until the "youths" are apprehended and enough neighbors have called the cops about the general urban rituals practiced by the inhabitants. Rituals such as car parked on the grass, rap music night and day, fighting, general disheveled condition of the property, littering and the list goes on. Then the "fambly" is kicked out, or forced out, and the landlords begin the 6 month to a year of again refurbishing the house.

The point here is that to expect a small number of actual citizens to turn the shit tide in a war zone neighborhood around is totally wrong.

So basically they're saying you have to move in whites and coppers to fix their neighborhood? That doesn't match the narrative being preached by the blm crowd. You couldn't make this shit up lmao

What...Chicago has no black or latino officers???

Where in the narrative does it say they were asking for whites. There are MANY black and latin officers out here. Many who have been here over twenty years. You are exactly the white officer the department wants to rid itself of. I have worked with men and women of all colors, and you are that ONE officer who always stands out at roll call. You are the reason the doj was here in the first place.

Reinforced brick and bridge concrete row houses on a cul de sac with
a reinforced guard shack where everybody has to take a turn for a
few hours?

Took a little trip out of state a couple months ago
to visit some in-laws, ("ROLL TIDE!") one of which is
retired CPD. They live in such a community and it is
VERY nice.

All owner occupied.
No rentals.
No section 8.
No long-term "visiting" by relatives.

You open the door for shit?
Shit will overrun you.

Take the house and do it like Rahm did. Leave a box in the closet with some items. Have some mail shipped there, and in 5yrs, house all yours. Keep it as an investment for 20yrs after the neighborhood has changed or sell it and make some money.

Your optimism is a breath of fresh air. I remember having the same attitude about life....and then I got on this job. I'd rather live in a modest home than to live in a mansion in some of these nieghborhoods. It's sad but you wouldn't stand a chance. God forbid you have children or a dog you'd want to walk.....not enough teachers, police officers, priests, firemen, etc out there to change years and years of bad upbringing. If parents and family can not better their children, trust me, you won't make a difference. We can always try our best and treat people how we want our families to be treated but we can do that from our homes in neighborhoods where people don't get killed for an iPhone. P.s. I'd send my kids to your school and I'd love you to teach them. Just wouldn't want them being naive and thinking we have some sort of influence on some of these neighborhoods.

If only you could have heard my loud obnoxious laugh. Thank you for that

It doesn't work like that. You aren't given a house that looks like it belongs in Edison park. It's a dump that you have to invest $100k in at least to make it decent and livable. You have to use contractors working with the city and tons of inspections. Then you are given the house after 5 years. And you can sell it for around $75-$100k in some shit neighborhood and break even. Great story

Very true...

These "Trick Dumb Cops Into Buying, Rehabbing
And Living In Basket-Case Funky-Town Houses"
programs are nothing but Feel-Goodery and Fuckery.

As a poster on another thread said:
"Fighting crime 24/7 but only being paid for one tour."

Fukdat...

We keep our neighbors at a comfy arm's length
and they don't know we're The Police.

It's better that way.
Less grief and aggravation
and no 3am knocking on the door
about "You're The Police! Come quick, my boyfriend
just gave me a black-eye in my hockey-dot" or some other
foolishness.
