Big Oops
- A man charged with murder for a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway in 2012 was mistakenly released from prison last week instead of being returned to custody in Cook County.
“Earlier today, the Cook County sheriff’s office was notified that inmate Garrett Glover had been released from the Illinois Department of Corrections,” a statement from the sheriff’s office said.
And of course, he hasn't been seen since. Click the link above for a picture - he's probably at home.

I thought IDOC was going to open an office at County Jail so as to avoid taking someone into custody, moving them to an IDOC facility and then immediately releasing them. Big waste of money since the sentence and immediate release is fairly common.
Idiots sit in county for years before going to trial.
Now the not returning him to county custody is an uncommon screwup.
Shit happens.

What's scary is that he was presented to Joliet and the office there considered his sentence complete. I may have heard wrong.

Problem is, the 4 year sentence for robbery, is the same sentence in Crook County as Murder. Easy to get confused.

Cara Smith, Darts mouthpiece said she couldn't say for certainty if the Sheriff supplied IDOC with the correct hold paperwork. The Sheriff by all evidence so far botched this. And it's the Sheriff, not IDOC who has a extensive history of this.
