Cubs OT Tab

  • As the Cubs made history last fall, the city of Chicago paid overtime — lots of it.

The city spent more than $18.8 million on overtime for public safety, traffic management and street cleanup during the Cubs’ march to their first World Series title in 108 years, according to records released Friday afternoon by City Hall in response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed months ago by the Chicago Sun-Times.

[...] The vast majority of Cubs-related overtime also came in the police department: $17.2 million. The title run also cost the city about $840,000 in overtime for the Office of Emergency Management and Communications and $743,000 for Streets and Sanitation, which provided extra traffic management and garbage collection, records show.
And this includes shelling out a few million for non-clinching out-of-town games that shouldn't have even been on the radar, a legacy of the most incompetently run events we've ever seen.

That being said, we appreciated the check.

there are taxes associated with Cubs tickets, parking lots and businesses in the area.

Plus CTA got a lot of business from t he games as well

Those taxes MORE than pay for the expenses

I don't understand ... because I know for a fact they do!
Is that what the city billed MLB?

How many of the north side detective bosses were covered during the entire cub season. I'm sick and tired hearing how they made out better than violent side bosses during cubs playoffs and championship. They are all yellow slipping their way to a huge investigation. How can you collect when you are at Wrigley. Tag you're in I'm out....but not really till later. Updates very soon.

I thought MLB footed the bill. Wasn't that the reason the City agreed to cancel our RDO'S and force OT? The money was great, but I had plans with my family that got cancelled for mandatory OT.

IT stated overtime not total time?

all those officers standing on corner game day counted even if they were not paid in overtime.
The media except this number like gullible children at XMAS.

No break down in expenses!

How much was charged for the away game that officers were paid some hefty overtime and none of the bosses gave a crap about saving the City cash.

OH well FETAL is the FUTURE.

Cancelled plans, when you work for the police department the city becomes your family. You must be willing to give up everything including your life for the good of the citizens of Chicago. In return the city and it's people indeed treat you as a Prince of the city.

The costs involved for some to attend are just too much to bear apparently?
Tom Dart has yet to deal with his pooch and Deputy Chief who tried getting into a World Series Game along with a relative using Major League Baseball Law Enforcement credentials.
I can understand a copper asking another for a break if possible-but for this idiot trying to muscle his way in to the point he gets beefed not only by CPD but MLB on top of it?? How much of a jerkoff did this guy have to be?
And then to top it off, the I-Team does a clip on it...

They worked in their district offices. Again NO. Check their log ons. Liars about being present and then bragging about what they did. Maybe they should stop drinking and bragging. They think they are made of Teflon. Maybe they should have had more answers at compstat instead of pleading for mercy and getting Stupid Ed and his minions tickets that those fakers were not supposed to accept. Man how these guys brag that nothing will happen because they dirtied up CubfanEd with primo seats. Asshats

The $$$ went to good PO wealth distribution causes like real estate taxes for Sanctuary, medical co-pays/deductibles, water bills and the plastic bag & sodi-pop tax.

A considerable amount probably went to inside house-mouse dollies & supervisors, who gladly left their comfy cubicle confines.
There simply wasn't enough District personnel to get caught up in the spirit of giving.

Let's do it again, both North and South Sides for the Playoffs would be nice, not just coin but to show just how low the manpower is, aside from a screen shot from Midnights in 016.

It just goes to show how inapt the leadership of the police department the leadership of City Hall how totally uninvolved not respectful of text payers money typical Chicago politicians throwing money away that is just what they do. But as usual we have to wonder how much of that money went into the back pockets of the elected how much of the money was a payoff thank you though for allowing Chicago police officers to make the extra cash let's do it again that show how incompetent the leadership is.

That is correct and enjoyable places, you go to the Carolina's,and Fort Myers in Florida it is like the lost city of Chicago, the people that left are there so many coppers and firemen, they are relaxed, enjoying life not scared to even travel like we are here! Everywhere due to rahm "running policing on the cheap" Like Zach Fardon finally strapped on a set and spoke out, along with the corrupt judicial system that is nothing more than "clout inc" who are all put there after bowing to the alderman and paying whatever tax they have to, with the 50 cowards and then our 2 liberal brainless senators we are spiraling quickly down the black hole and no stopping in sight, and think the 2 dumbocrat senators want President Trump to let them appoint the replacement attorney for Fardon hope Trump says a loud "fuck you" and puts in a "law and order" type who will not listen nor tolerate their lies and bullshit!
