Depends whose statistics you trust - this is the "official" Department line:
- The number of shootings in Chicago declined for the second month in a row in April, according to Chicago Police.
Forty-five people were fatally shot in Chicago during the month, which saw 313 people shot in 247 separate incidents, according to police statistics released early Monday, as well as data maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times.
Shootings are down almost 13 percent this year compared to this time last year, police said. So far, there have been about 9 percent fewer shooting victims compared to 2016.
But the Department has political spokesweasels, who answer to Rahm and his political goals.

Total Homicides: 48 (+20%)
An awful lot of + numbers there - we guess the Department is lying again. And it looks like the shooters are gaining accuracy - a much higher kill ratio this April.

It's hilarious read the times they say shootings are down. Then the Tribune says they are same as last year. Both these articles appeared on the same day.
Guess there ammo tax has not taken effect, plus I don't like their voodoo mathematics... it's so 1980

If they want to throw around 'average comparison shooting' figures to skew the results (liars figure and figures lie) then add in the 'average comparison rainfall' figures.

HAHAHA!!! CPD command staff is the biggest joke in the country. Next to our mayor and all the other political hacks in this city/county. Worst collection of bosses in history. No actual police experience anywhere, just a bunch of merit hack house mice. Newsflash media, the CPD COMMAND STAFF HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY'RE DOING!! And the nine digit midget could care less. If you don't believe me just pay close attention to the 011th district once they get their cameras. Going to be a hell of a show, and those stupid shot spotters will not save them.

Where is the UNION LEADERSHIP demanding to know just who it is besmirching the name o "Chicago Police" with outright demonstrable lies? It is GREAT to see SCC calling 'them" out on the actual substance, but where is the UNION and the PRESS RELEASES and the PRESS CONFERENCES demanding to know how media can so irresponsible as to be just blatantly lying and using the name of of the Chicago Police Department to do it.
Folks, this is EXACTLY the real battles the UNIONS are supposed to be fighting on your behalf! It is RIDICULOUS that this keeps right on happening again and again and again. Stand up to your own dang union, will ya!

Wait for tact teams throughout the city to be issued cameras. Criminals will have a field day, arrests will drop more than one could imagine, gun and drugs confiscated will drop to the point that one would think people have gone straight and the pols will blame the police for not being proactive.
Pols and SJWs wanted this. Now they will get a taste with both barrels of a society where the hands are completely tied. Welcome to hell!
