It's been known for awhile now that there is a big influx of shootings in 009 with the use of high powered rifles. Be careful out there.
Scenario:

With SB1657 coming out of the Senate and heading to the House, to heap on more regulations of gun stores/FFLs, it sure seems suspicious that this happened. These animals will light up a car (or van) just because they think it might contain a rival gang. In this case I'm sure they are going to say they didn't know it was the police. I work in 009 and I hate to say that I've seen this coming. The district is way too big for the manpower on 3rd watch. No 06 cars, no rapids, and constantly have 2 or more down cars. Speedy recovery for the wounded officers. It's getting too ridiculous to work in 009, your back up is miles away. HQ been neglecting 009 and letting it rot for years. We barely have enough POs working yet we have more then enough supervisors. 009 is a big district to cover for its existing manpower and HQ make it seems like 009 do not need anymore. They push the 3rd watch to the cliff while 1st watch are sitting in the station "waiting for cars". I am lucky that it wasn't me this time, but like I said, it's bound to happen. I am glad the officers are recovering. How much more blue bloods does it take for HQ to realize they been cooking the book. Sooner or later, it's going to blow.

Dear upper level supervisors, and District Commanders. When you constantly push Numbers, you put lower level supervisors in a position where they are forced to utilize officers in capacities that they are ill prepared for, doing tasks they have no experience in.
Dear Command level supervisors and headquarters staffers. You are the people that dictate the rules. For the last year, nearly every district has issued a formal notice, approved and disseminated from your offices, requesting submissions for officers working Tact. Every one of these requests states minimum time required as 3 years on the job (two with former police/military exp). During this same time, every district has accepted officers that DO NOT meet these minimum experience requirements. Are you intentionally ignoring these assignments because you need numbers (and could give a shit about the officers), or are you ignoring them simply because violating your own rules is both anticipated, and expected, from the command staff?
First of all, prayers to the cops and their families, catch the bastards and let the judges fuck it up.

I work in 009 and I hate to say that I've seen this coming. The district is way too big for the manpower on 3rd watch. No 06 cars, no rapids, and constantly have 2 or more down cars. Speedy recovery for the wounded officers. It's getting too ridiculous to work in 009, your back up is miles away. HQ been neglecting 009 and letting it rot for years. We barely have enough POs working yet we have more then enough supervisors. 009 is a big district to cover for its existing manpower and HQ make it seems like 009 do not need anymore. They push the 3rd watch to the cliff while 1st watch are sitting in the station "waiting for cars". I am lucky that it wasn't me this time, but like I said, it's bound to happen. I am glad the officers are recovering. How much more blue bloods does it take for HQ to realize they been cooking the book. Sooner or later, it's going to blow.

This is not a police ambush. Two inexperienced, under trained, unsupervised not worthy of the title police officer decide to engage in a high speed chase with gang members in a COVERT car? No blue and whites assigned as back ups. No unmarked assigned as backups. No Sgt monitoring or planning the operation? What exactly was their assignment? To chase gang members in a car that looks like a civilian? No lights? No sirens? No shots fired from the car these amateurs were chasing?

The worst part about all of this might have came form OEMC. The ambulances that were dispatched to the scene were responding to a "person down" call. So, the CFD had no idea that coppers were shot until they were on the scene. How the fuck does that happen?
Whoever made the ticket at OEMC really fucked that one up. There should definitely be a priority category for when an officer gets shot! Fricken' "person down." The guys on the ambulance probably thought that they were going to pick up some bum that was drunk on the corner.....definitely a spine-chilling surprise when they got on the scene.

Not trying to defend someone you dislike, but I have seen and been inside some "coverts" that had some really heavy tinted windows.
I have also seen Officers burn a covert by doing traffic stops and acting like they were in a blue/white with it.
There was a mission team that set up a covert as a decoy for a theft from auto mission. They actually had to scrape off the tint film in the back windows to see the empty boxes in the back seats! A covert is only as good as how you use it, or not?

Since so much of today's gang violence is sparked by social media activity, is it possible that when the Superintendent said Tuesday he was glad the Department did not have to add any names to the FOP Memorial Wall in 2016, that perhaps this (innocent) remark served as the catalyst upon which some asshole gang bangers took it upon themselves to try to add a couple of names to the Memorial at the FOP? He made these remarks at the memorial service at FOP broadcast live on Facebook just a few hours before the shooting took place. Unless it's just a coincidence, might it be worthwhile reviewing the video and run backgrounds on all those who posted negative comments during the Facebook Live coverage of this Memorial event? Maybe you'll see that some of those negative comments came from friends of those being held. I'm not an officer but just wanted to throw it out there... Be safe.

Dep Chief son has exactly 27 months on the job. Speaking as an old timer and someone who had utilized C-Cars for 10 years an officer with that time on the job has no business being involved in any type of covert operation or the use of a covert vehicle. This is a different level of policing for skilled and experienced officers, my personal opinion a big mistake was made here. I also believe this applies to an officer with his time on the job playing a role on a tact team, remember 18 months of the 27 months was in the academy and on probation. Time to re-evaluate some things.
Except for prayers and best wishes for the involved officers, I'm quite disheartened to see a lot of the post bashing them and who they be related too. I bet you are the same peoplecwho cry about there being no unity on this job too. As a veteran close to 27yrs on, I'm embarrassed.

Besides the ton of "hidden"/"special" full duty officers in 009 there's also easily 30 bodies detailed out that still reflect as 009 Dist manpower.
Put the hidden/special ones on the street where they belong and cancel most of those 30 detailed out and you could man another watch!!

Wheezie can't find them because she's a box of rocks and seldom "works" a full shift herself.
The "special" ones only "work" 4-5 hours when they remember to show up.... some of them don't even show up on a consistent basis.
