Quick Clot?

This was the subject of a citywide bulletin a few days ago. It seems that someone or some company of dubious credibility contributed a bunch of off-brand "Quick Clot" first aid supplies.

We don't know if this is actually dangerous, of dubious quality, expired or just not from the properly connected company that is getting a piece of the action (this is Chicago after all.)

Regardless, you should check the dates and data sheets on everything that you might rely on to protect yourself or other coppers' lives.

Toss and buy your own. Learn how to use it. YouTube is a wonderful thing, with many vid on one subject.

Quick Clot/similar product and tourniquets beats the hell out of having a ton of napkins in the glove box.

We don't use powder. The hospitals hate it, it makes it difficult to treat the wound. Use only dressing impregnated with the clotting material.

Something is very, very suspicious about the stuff that was dropped off at police stations.DO NOT USE IT.

Please please PLEASE understand that CPD's training on traumatic injury is inadequate. Find s qualified instructor and go take a one-day class on treating traumatic injury on your own dime. You may save another Officer's life, or your own.

Not a Cop (and not a medical instructor either)

The FOP seems as if it's worse then the city administration. They are their to protect you, but seem to be doing very little of that.
Boys and Girls, years of voting for democratic representatives both in the union and city have destroyed it all.
The glass is not half full its empty, if you don't see that I am sorry. This city will not recover. I am not sure you will be able to even contain it.
God help us.

TALE OF THREE COPPERS
Twenty years ago Terry Hillard made a video about how a colonoscopy detected early colon cancer and saved his life. He still is running around collecting those pension checks.

Two years ago I fainted and the doctor ordered blood tests. I was anemic. I had no other symptoms. I had a colonoscopy and a small cancerous tumor was found. I had it surgically removed and needed no other cancer therapy.

I just found out that a friend has been diagnosed with colon cancer. Unfortunately his tumor is large. They are trying to shrink it with radiation and chemo before doing surgery to remove it. Hopefully he will recover fully.

My message is that colon cancer is highly treatable, especially if caught early. If you are over 50 get a colonoscopy. If you haven't had one for awhile talk to your doctor about when you will need another. My tumor was found four years after a clear colonoscopy.

SCC please make this a separate topic. Lives are at stake.

You think the city would pass on a deal to save a nickel, no matter what quality a product may be, hand it out to all the police officers, smiling all the time and expecting your gratitude? Then if the product fails, you didn't use it right. The media makes the city look good and the cops look like boobs. The product itself won't have any spotlights on it.

You can get quality stuff on Amazon. Then submitted it to my flexible health spending plan. But this is for my use or a fellow coppers use only. 40 bucks to save myself or brother/sister is well worth it.

You don't need a yearly colonoscopy. Check out the FIT test. https://www.pblabs.com/collections/fit-fecal-immunochemical-test/products/second-generation-fit-fecal-immunochemical-test

It is non invasive, cheaper and most docs don't know it exists

No it's not a new company. Go to their website. A few years old and looks like a kid made the site. They use Lou Farrigno (sp) and his Hulk likeness and almost a quote of his but not really a quote or endorsement. If this company was so legit they would have donated a few dozen cases to the department the right way and then they could put on their website "Used by Chicago Police Department". The fact that these show up at the desk by some unknown person is suspect enough for me to not use it.

They know about it been using it for years. Problem is it gives a lot of false positives, then you have to take the invasive tests to show you don't have the cancer. Most patients don't complain about the false positive, because they are just happy when they find you don't have the cancer

To the colon cancer comment-maker. My sister in law waited a very long time. Finally, she was diagnosed stage 4. The hemp and radiation were brutal but she came through the surgery okay and - to be polite - is "intact"' in that department.

Don't wait. Get those checkups.

The water doesn't expire scientist, however the plastic that contains the water does. You probably have 6 months on the job and were more than likely protesting at NATO. The working police who had no choice but to go there drank water with expired dates on it. #cermak and Michigan you p$$$y. I'm sure the guys from the bulls riots had it worse and would have crushed your skull at the same time.
