New Schedule?

We got a couple of emails about a new schedule floating around - but when you search the Directives on the Department Intranet, it doesn't exist. Here's what we got (click for larger versions):

We don't recall a single mention from the FOP about schedule alterations. What we think happened is that someone accidentally (or on purpose) let this leak out in the active system and then put it back into "draft" status.

Forty-five minute roll call? Gym time? We don't think any of this is based in reality. What has anyone heard?

Looks more like a way to tighten up the shift overlap and go back to something similar to the old way. New shift coming out as the previous shift heads in. For the spoiled millenials who have benefited from ducks and cuts, welcome to working a full tour!! I heard there is an addendum to this order where Sgt's will be required to provide milk and cookies in a special quiet room to all of the upset members of the "everyone is a winner" generation. Woohoo, I prefer oatmeal raisin cookies Sarge!! Unreal.

003 tried to have 10 and 30 sector as early and 20 and 40 sector as late for two years under the "squad" program. Due to manpower shortages, there were rarely 40 sector cars so 4 cars ended up covering the district for well over an hour. If anyone was in on an arrest, took time, or was unavailable then 2-3 cars were up. It was not uncommon for one car to be up and available covering the whole district. It was a huge officer safety issue. If this goes city wide a lot of coppers could get hurt.

So gym time has to be done in those first 45 minutes and can not be done any other time during my tour? Screw that!!! I am still going to take my travel time and my lunch at the academy and knock out my workout then. Besides, the gym at the station is crap and I don't see an opportunity to get somewhere better for a few years.

SCC:
You say you don't think any of this is based in reality?
The department, especially under Tiny Dancer, operates in fantasyland anyways so why not?
CPD is the antithesis of making sense so this would fit right in with the completely ridiculous trend CPD has been in under asshole Rahm.

Special Ed is not smart enough to compose/relese
something like that. I'd put my money on Rahm "Trial

the entire force into the boardroom. It was created to be
discovered and displayed on SCC. Rahm has been reading
our mail for a long time now. It was released to get feedback
from the rank and file, not the gangs, not the Aldercreatures.
It's a mind F, so be careful how you respond.

So the failed Squad program wants to make a comeback. Having been forced to work that in 003 with sometimes only 2 late cars up for well over an hour it was nothing but an officer safety issue. Here is what the day looks like for CAPS in 19th district. Start shift and hour late, first hour surf the internet, second hour gossip, third hour do some community work such as order a cake for the white wealthy seniors living in Lakeview, forth and fifth hour have lunch , finally they can go home with no Check off. As for the uniform inspection t shirt, shorts, and flip flop sandals will suffice.

Old Task Force Ranger here: Back in the day, the Task Force had a commander by the name of Walter Vallie. Wally was a rare bird but he was a physical fitness nut. He developed what he called the V.I.P. Team. This Team was open to anyone in the Task Force. One had to qualify for this team. There was a physical fitness test that included but not limited to how fast you could run a mile, a forty yard dash, 100 year dash, and a 220 yard dash. In addition how many sit ups, push ups, chin ups etc. you could do. The real kicker was how much one could bench press. After completing all these test, your score was evaluated. The people who did the evaluation was the then trainer for the Chicago Bear Fred Catto and the Bears STrength Coach Clid Emmeric(Emmeric was a former Olympic Gold Metal Weightlifter who in his eighties is still on the sidelines during games) What this entitled you too was if there was a special detail and members of the Task Force were asked to be assigned, then the detail would be given to a VIP Team Member first. If you were assigned to 60-E (War Wagon) you had to be a VIP member. Believe me when I tell you I got some VERY GREAT DETAILS FROM THIS. Now are you ready: If you were assigned to the VIP Team then one of the benefits was that you ORDERED TO WORK OUT THREE (3) HOURS A DAY, MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND FRIDAY AT SOLDERS FIELD (the old solders field had a workout room by the Bears Locker room) WHILE YOU WERE WORKING. If you were on your day off you could go workout and receive three hours overtime. The workout site was then changed to 35th and Normal when they made that a gym. If you for some reason did not work out on those three days, you would get a phone call from Vallie's Office and ask why. This went on during the duration of Vallie's time as the Task Force Commander. When Vallie got promoted to field deputy and the next commander took his place he stopped this practice because all of the Area Commanders where bitching and moaning about how certain PO's were getting this benefit and not others. Some Commanders wanted to put THIER GUYS in the unit. To this day I still work out 4/5 times a week. My question is, What the hell is someone going to do in fifteen minutes? NOTHING! If anyone knows anything about exercise then one would know that before any type of exercise one has to warm up. Depending a warm up could last 8 to 10 minutes depending on what type of exercise you are going to do> Ladies and Gentleman the Department has changed in more ways than one> Please Stay Safe out there and fetal Old Task Force Ranger

But having a 45 minute rollcall means you will not get jobs until 45 minutes after the start of your tour. And what's wrong with working out? Don't you want to try to be healthy for your family and when you retire and spend as many years possible collecting your pension from this city? Or would you rather die of obesity or any other hundreds of illnesses before you get your first pension check?

Quality of life??? This would kill my family life. You think it's only about weekend's, sorry pal it's about my entire week. When you have a wife that works weird city hours, baby sitters that aren't available at a drop of a hat and school for the little ones this is a disaster waiting to happen. While the 4/2 isn't perfect it works since it enables officers to pick from three watches that will suit their needs. Never ever let the city go 13 hours, less officers needed means less they will hire.

Ha, why do you think they'd let coppers work out on company time???Because they will try it to make it a requirement to pass the POWER test annually...

If they do that they better have the Lt's off this last list scoring the tests or CPD will be down 5000

So you can go on IOD when you get hurt in the gym during roll call?

I hope you haven't skimmed over all the orders, like you did with this unofficial one.

Believe it says you will have to sign a waiver if you work out during working hours No way you are getting IOD for working out in the gym
