Saw this on another post about new merit Sgt Ivan Ramos in the academy. If this nit wit loud mouth gets any kind of team in the future then it just shows how bad our department is. This moron can't even read. He has always bragged and talked up a big game since day one. Has no problems telling everyone about what his dad and connections will do for him. Terrible.

Not only airports but subway/TOSPOT special employment is supposed to make a comeback. They're getting nervous about the terrorism potential at airports and subways. Also, 2018 budget calls for 10-12 more explosive K9s for those units. Maybe a few vapor wake dogs on top of that. Looks like the city may actually be doing what the DOJ is suggesting.

We all knew this was coming. VRI is a horrible strategy. Also, the dept clamping down on OT they figure the budget will be significantly lower this year if they start OT in the warm months rather than winter.
That said city will lose a good deal of revenue since now an expired plate really isn't worth our time.
I'm sure they'll add another program but not soon. The email would of stated a new plan to suppress our hysterical and morale decline. We need to demand a higher increase in pay that's all.

VRI really made a difference. They were hard charging officers that led the city in arrests and guns recovered. The best was when they all joined together on Labor Day and showed the city how dedicated they were.

It’s over. Academy has been having a class of 100 recruits a month for awhile and plans on a class of 100 a month every month next year
We wanted more manpower and we are getting it

Wrong sock jockey! They have never suspended VRI. A few winters they decreased the manpower but never stopped it. Hopefully it comes back for the summer.

Allegedly, gang enforcement, saturation and gun teams are all being merged into one big unit out of two locations. One that will pull out of 011 downstairs and another south that will pull out of the building that area south saturation currently pulls out of st 117th and Indiana. South will be 003,004,005,002,007,008,009,006, 022 and 001. The rest will be the guys who pull out of 011. All in uniform and makes cars. VRI marked cars along with saturation marked cars are to be split up and used. Not sure I trust people to actually work in some of those VRI cars. One commander, 2 XOs and 6 LTs. A waste of you ask me. Allegedly announcement to come out January to announce the new "strategy" to combat crime in 2018. Lots of 3 year wonders gonna drink this cool aid just like those that went to MSF or the scabs who went to SOS after the scandal broke and they had the exodus.

The best the city can do is try and work with the .ASA and try to slow down or regulate the subpoena’s coming out. No more subpoenaing everyone on every report. Did it in youth a few years back where Sgta checked to see if the youth officers were necessary. Worked for awhile
